The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

Ok, just caught up. Sheila & Jessica, so sorry to see that y'all have had to cancel! Many T&P that both of you will have a change of fortune soon!

Thanks to summerlady for posting the link to the change in park hours. Bummed to see that the parade at AK will not be rolling our week; DD likes parades and I was hoping to catch that one. I also just realized that we won't be catching the MSEP this trip! Our two MK days are the 9th when the park closes early, and the 11th when there's MVMCP (which we are attending). On the 9th though we're having dinner at Chef Mickey's, so I'm hoping to catch the Electric Water Parade after we eat. Anyone know how to find out what time it floats by?

----

I've got a WWYD question for everyone. All summer my parents mentioned how they would like to go down to WDW at the same time as us, partly to share in the experience, partly to help with DD so DH and I can ride the big rides w/o rider swapping, and partly so my dad could help DH on rides where I need help transferring out of my w/c. They kept saying they didn't think it would happen, though, so I didn't take it to seriously. All the sudden right at 45 days out, they decided they were def. going. I added them to as many of my ADRs as I could, but the one that I haven't been able to get them into is DD's birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's, naturally the one they'd want to be at the most. On the one hand I'm extremely happy with all our ADRs and the two on her birthday in particular (CRT breakfast and CM dinner, both at great times) and I feel like sorry I can't get you added on, should have made up your mind sooner. But on the other hand, I really hate that they'll miss her birthday dinner, and am <gulp> actually tossing around the idea of going elsewhere so we can all eat dinner together. We're not park hopping, so it would have to be a resort or DTD restaurant, and pulling up any dinners for five resort wide I'm really not finding anything appealing. The most viable option was a table at 1900 PF, but it's about an hour later than I would like, plus the three of us are already eating at the castle that morning so it would mean two princess meals in one day, three overall for the trip. So what I'm getting at is would you just say sorry you're missing out, and stick with the existing ADR, or settle for something less ideal so that we can all dine together. I did find this evening an opening for two at The Wave that's only about 15min after our Chef Mickey reservation, so my parents could at least eat at the same resort as us, then hopefully we could meet up for the EWP.

Well looks like you'll have to take my name off the list. We booked in March and I got pregnant in June. We were still going to go, but I just saw my doctor on Friday and due to complications, I am off work until the birth and can't do any physical activity.

He said Disney was too risky. As bummed as I am, I'd rather have a healthy baby.

I have a bunch of ADR's I have to cancel, but can't because of the glitch in the system. I'm going to wait until after the new upgrade and if that still doesn't work, I will call to cancel them.

Hope everyone has a good time in November. We are planning to return next November once the baby is born.

Lizzy, Here is my $.02, do with it what yo uwill. We travel every trip with my grandparents (they are like my parents.) Anyway, we don't do all our meals together, we like some just our family time and they like some meals just the 2 of them. I know it complicates that it is her b-day but CM is the best for birthdays, you don't want to cancel that. If yo ujust play up the morning as her birthday they won't know what they are missing and they will have a nice quiet meal at the Wave. What you could do is all go to CM and try at Check In to see if there is anything they can do, it is a possibility since your table for 3 is really a table for 4, maybe they could squeeze you all together. They have max #s they can have but if for example a group like us is there, an add number, they MIGHT be able to do it, then if not your parents can walk over to the Wave.

I know if it were us we would go, as much as we love my grandparents and wish they could be there because it is such a fun place for a birthday. In fact, we all went for DD16's 3rd birthday and we did CM and CP. My grandparents decided they could only afford to do one or I guess a better word would be they could only justify the cost of one, and since DD loved Pooh and friends so much they picked to go there with us and so they didn't go to her CM meal with us that year and they were fine with that.

I say go, try if you want, but still go for your DD. Just my opinion. Family and couple time for them isn't so bad. :goodvibes

Sorry you are cancelling and having some comps...but Congrats on getting a baby!!!!!!:yay: I had to cancel our first trip because I found out I was pregnant with #2--ours was due to finances. We just could NOT swing a vacation that year!! But, when he was 18 months old we went and it was fantastic!!!!!!

Also, I am at 25 days today!!!!:yay::yay: For some reason,I am not freaking out yet!!!! Well...I know why....the next two weeks are extremely busy! So, by next weekend, maybe I will start to feel the Disney pressure!!!! LOL

First Congratulations on the new baby, sorry to hear that you have to cancel your trip but at least you found out about the pregnancy problems now so you take it easy and have a happy, healthy baby. Disney will still be there and you will have a new lil one soon , a lot better than a Disney Vacation. Take Care I wish you all the best luck in the coming months.

I am doing the same thing about my ADR's I have to cancel, when I called to cancel the vacation and my HDDR I held off until I can post them here and on the cancellation thread so hopefully someone who needs them will be able to grab them. I hope this shutdown tonight fixes the problems with the reservation system.

:cool1::cool1:31 DAYS:yay::woohoo:

Super excited!!! Going to see Wicked tonight for my 3rd time..Love love love it!!!! I'm taking my sister for her birthday and I hope she loves it as much as I do. Hope you all have a great day today!!!!

I was worried when we had to cancel this years trip since DH had already expressed he wanted to go back to Montana next year anyway yesterday after I called and cancelled everything, Resort, HDDR, Jet Blue, Garden Grocer,Best Friends Kennel, La Quinta(Airport) and pm the person we were shareing the Illuminations Cruise with I was feeling quite down so I started looking at dates and then priceing out various resorts for next year.
Now at the moment there are of course no discounts out there so keeping fingers crossed something will come out.
After I had a few senarios to show DH(who did not go into work yesterday, he felt sick, I think it was more he was upset too about having to cancel) I made my proposal
I told him I was leaning towards after Thanksgiving next year, explained the crowds will be a little bigger 3-5 instead of 1-2 but we will be able to do all the "Christmas" things Disney has to offer, not just some, the CP, Santas around the World, see the Resorts fully decorated etc etc etc.
We are planning to do things a bit differently this time, going the all inclusive route this time. We will try the DxDP for the first time, stay at the Beach Club and get Park Hoppers so we can try out all the Restaurants over in Epcot which we have missed and return to our favorites too. Oh did I mention we plan on booking 10 days this time? :yay:
So as soon as our Money is refunded I will call and book our Christmas 2011 Trip and I can not wait.
I was a little upset over having to lose $100 pp when I cancelled our flights but now I have a credit of almost $600, we are going to give DS & Ddil their Money back in cash and just keep their credits to use next year which should pay for our flights :)
I have something to look forward to and I am excited and my ticker tomorrow will read 1111

To my freinds here who also had to cancel their trips this year, I hope you can begin to focus on planning your rescheduled trip for 2011 too, it is really helping me get over not going this year.

Oh I forgot to mention, going after Thanksgiving we will miss the F & W Festival but we will also have a year to pay off our Going Deluxe all the way Trip should anymore "bad luck" comes our way

31 days!!! One month from today!!!
I am actually really, really excited since I cahnged resorts over the weekend to POFQ and starting to get motivated about packing and organizing! 4 more weekends to get it all together!

Sheila,

It's nice to see that you have a ticker set for next year already. Glad to see the planning has begun again.

AWESOME on the going deluxe all the way idea as well. Me thinks it'll be some time before my family and I can do that one.

But I am happy for y'all.

Water Pageant: (general times, they can vary)
Polynesian Resort -- 9 p.m.
Grand Floridian -- 9:15 p.m.
Wilderness Lodge -- 9:35 p.m.
Fort Wilderness -- 9:45 p.m.
Contemporary Resort -- 10:05 p.m.
Magic Kingdom -- 10:20 p.m. (only during extended MK park
hours)

As far as the meal goes, maybe ask your daughter if she wants to eat with Mickey or her grandparents. I know she's only two, but she probably will have an opinion one way or another. I also don't think switching to Park Fare would be that bad. Those stepsisters are a hoot!

I LOVE Wicked! I've only seen it once though.

your trip plans sound lovely!

We added a day so now we are leaving the 4th. No studio available for that day so we have a room at Pop and then transfer over to AKL.

Sheila,

It's nice to see that you have a ticker set for next year already. Glad to see the planning has begun again.

AWESOME on the going deluxe all the way idea as well. Me thinks it'll be some time before my family and I can do that one.

But I am happy for y'all.

I have to tell you we did one really big Vacation back when DH and I were both working the year we stayed at YC with both our DS's but now that I am retired and on disability and DH will be retireing at the end of this year, getting older and living on a fixed income is going to be a challenge so this trip next year may be the last "Big One', especially since we are both getting older I am 57 and he is 58, in actuality by missing our trip this year we are just rolling two shorter vacations(we were only going for 5 nights this year) into one and although money wise as I told DH it looks like a lot now if you added up what we were spending for two small vacations it comes out about the same.
I should have been a sales rep for DVC :rotfl:

Don't fret You will have a fantastic time this year, when we were looking at downgradeing our resort and still going this year, I think if CSR had been available we might have gone for it , since we truely liked CSR the year we stayed there, but of course they were booked.

I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip and I hope everything is okay with you and the baby.

We are at 23 days today:banana: Still haven't received our ME package, is it time to be concerned and contact my TA?

We use a TA as well and we always get all of our Disney stuff about 2 weeks before the trip because they are sent to her first and then she ships them to us. Hope this helps ease your mind a little..
