I'm sorry to just now update. I'm just copying some of my post from the thread about my Mom...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37654095#post37654095

We are so thankful for your prayers. My sweet Mom went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Aug.1st. Our family was so blessed to be able to visit with Mom & tell her how much we loved her. We all (about 15 of us) went in individually to talk to her. She was so ready to go see Jesus face-to-face! She kept us up until 3:30 Sat morning cracking jokes & making all of us laugh. It was probably the funniest night of my life. We never knew she was such a comedian!

We prayed for God's Will & it was hard to not pray "Fix her! Heal her!" I miss my Mom SO much, but I cannot describe how wonderful it feels to know that she is praising Jesus face-to-face!! God answered our prayers & relieved Mom of her pain---even though the Hospice doctor & nurses suspected she'd make it several more days. God is SO good

She requested that her funeral would be a happy celebration & it was! We've had TONS of people call & write to us saying that was the best, happiest funeral they've ever attended. I'm just SO thankful we made it to see the whales. Love to you all, Angela

I'm so very sorry for your loss but glad for you all that you were able to be with her.

I never sing where anyone else can hear me.

Your post made me laugh since the year we stayed at YC while DH and DS went to the heath club to work out I took a walk about the grounds it was dusk the sun was just rising and videoed as I walked singing Memories LOL Boy did everyone get a good laugh over that when we watched it later.
Note to self never sing where anyone can hear you
With our trips now coming up soon, have any of you thought about reporting live from the parks? I was considering it. I don't twitter. But I thought maybe I would check in here via my iphone. And I always do a small Facebook live report. Atleast you can steal them. I am so un-crafty that I can't even copy a craft! LOL

This year I am not taking my computer like in years past and I do not own a iphone so no live trip report for me

I am here if you need to talk

That is SO funny! Love it. :)

At POFQ, they play music continually, all over, including songs by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. I bought the CD with the same music on it and sing along when I'm alone in the car. One night when we were coming back on the boat from DTD and POFQ came into view, they played "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans" by Louis Armstrong on the boat and it took every thing I had to keep from bawling out loud in front of everyone.

Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans
And miss it each night and day
I know I'm not wrong, the feeling's getting stronger
The longer I stay away

Miss the moss-covered vines, tall sugar pines
Where mockingbirds used to sing
I'd love to see that old lazy Mississippi
Hurrying into Spring

The moonlight on the bayou
A Creole tune that fills the air
I dream about magnolias in bloom
And I'm wishin I was there

Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans
When that's where you left your heart
And there's one thing more, I miss the one I care for
More than I miss New Orleans

Waaaa...I'm getting all misty-eyed again!

a cool scavenger hunt I found for Tom Sawyer Island discussions

Can you share this one? I haven't seen one of these yet.

I love your countdown with gifts.

I'm in the process of making and getting gifts, too, but we give the gifts out in the car, after passing a bigger city (we have about 12 along the way). If I gave to my kids now, they'd play with them already or pester me to do so!

I didn't know about your mom but thank you for sharing your uplifting story about your courageous mom. What a blessing she was to your family! I pray that God continues to give you and your family comfort -- know that she is singing with the angels and praising Jesus our Saviour! :thumbsup2:cool1: Maybe even doing a little of this::dance3:

Angela,

So sorry about your mom. What a wonderful tribute to her life to have a "homecoming celebration" at her funeral. You and your family are in my prayers.

QOTD:
What do you use to carry all your stuff around at the parks?
(keeping in mind on full park days, you have to carry sweats)

We carry a clear backpack, makes going through security very easy :dance3:. My mom has a hard time walking (bad hip), so she rents a scooter and we put the backpack in the basket.

I carry a very small purse (which only holds my cellphone and our KTTW cards). It is called a Golla Mobile/Cellphone bag and I bought it at Target. The strap was too short to wear across my body, so I went to JoAnn Fabrics and bought a new cord for less than $2.00. I always go through the security line of "No bags" and just open it to show my phone.

My prayers go out to you on the loss of your mother. I can't relate to losing a parent, but in my pre-disability days I worked on the pediatric oncology unit at our local hospital (a St. Jude affiliate). One of the things that got us through so many losses was knowing that they were no longer suffering, and that we had done everything we could to make their last days as good as possible. So glad you were able to make some lasting memories in her final days, and were able to celebrate her life instead of mourning her death.

That is SO funny! Love it. :)

Waaaa...I'm getting all misty-eyed again!

LOOOVE this song! Used to sing it to myself all the time when I lived in Pittsburgh for five years. I'm from an hour away in Baton Rouge, so the atmosphere is very similar, and we go to N.O. often. I also liked watching Steel Magnolias b/c it reminded me of home, and my parents would always ship me a king cake during mardi gras. Good stuff!

ETA: Hey, has anyone paid off yet? I had been holding out to see if I could catch any deals, but with both the Monster pin and Free Dining blocked out that week I don't think it's gonna happen. I've got the money sitting in savings, so I guess there's really no reason not to. Just haven't done it yet.

Hi Everyone!! only 85 more days!!! :cool1: and 18 more days until school starts!! :lmao:

Oh - I got a clean bill of health. With limited mobility. The dr describes my belly as a superficial wound. Like a cut. But the fact that it is a incision site, it needs to heal properly. So I have been given 2 weeks to get it to healed or they are going to restitch it. She said I can swim now! Yeah! She just doesn't want me doing anything that requires me to do serious streching of my tummy muscles and no heavy lifting. Otherwise, she said I was fine to return to my typical wigglewort self!

:thumbsup2 awesome news.. hope you continue to heal!

Excellent, thank you! I love seeing all those crowd level 2s. :)
me too! My whole week is a 2! :thumbsup2

we almost always avoid parks with EMH becuase of heavier crowds... we try to go to the parks that had them the day before because most people were there the day before...
Same here.. we don't go to EMH parks.. it works for us too since our kids are still young (7 & 3), they can't handle the late late nights anyway.

I have a QOTD for you:
What do you use to carry all your stuff around at the parks?
(keeping in mind on full park days, you have to carry sweats)
I'm bringing 2 strollers for my boys.. small umbrella type.. they get tired and honestly its easier to put them in it and push them around than to listen to them whine that they are tired! :rotfl: But we usually park them in one location and then go retrieve them when we are going to another area.. it works for us.

So my kids get to pull the 1st number off our 100 day countdown calendar today and I added a little suprise last night. I randomly stuck gold stars on the back of ten of the numbers and when they pull those they'll get a present for our trip. I put one on for tomorrow so they don't have to wait too long. Most of the gifts will actually be things I am going to make. I found the designs on the DIS. For tomorrow I printed out a scavenger hunt for the car ride that I laminated and will ring together with a pack of dry erase markers. Some of the other things will be a car bingo game, an epcot passport, a cool scavenger hunt I found for Tom Sawyer Island, also some cute coupons for Mickey ears, a trading pin and a Mickey shaped ice cream. The coupons i'll attach to a small gift (disney kooky pens to take for autographs, disney pez). I also plan on giving them our yearly disney hallmark ornament towards the end. I think it will make the countdown even more fun (I know most of you are really anxious, but this is my favorite part- the anticipation and family discussions of what we'll do and how much fun we'll have!)

such a cool idea!! I need to do something like that for them.. I was thinking of a calendar of sorts and they call pull off the mickey head or something like that.. I'll wait until we get down to like 45 days or they will tire of it easily.

We have been paid off for a bit. If you get a better deal after you have paid your balance, they just reimburse the difference. It has to be reimbursed the way it was paid, like in our case, my bank card.

To prepare for our Disney vaca, tomorrow we are doing "Splash Mountain Day" (each family member gets to pick a special 'Disney' day, so we'll have 4 of them, one each month).

So we are turning our backyard slides into the hills for Splash Mountain. We got a water ball and a water slide mat that we'll hook up to hoses. My DD5 has made the sign for Splash Mountain, Laughing Place and of course the Fast Passes to get on the ride. We'll take a picture at the top of the big hill, sing the songs and have our Brer Rabbit, Bear and Fox stuffed animals, too.

For a snack we're making Brer' Patches -- chow mein noodle briar patches with cinnamon graham cracker bunnies, gummi bears and a gummi fox (well, we have to create this ourselves...I couldn't find an edible fox).

It should be fun!

Angela....many prayers and hugs as you go through this time of your Mother's passsing....I am so thnkful that you know she went home to be w/ her Father and has no more pain...

QOTD:
What do you use to carry all your stuff around at the parks?
(keeping in mind on full park days, you have to carry sweats)

We have yet to go w/ out muliple bags and a stroller when we travel as a family....DH & I went 3 times before kids...but I know I still carried ponchos ;)

this trip we will still use a stroller for our youngest who will be turing 4 on Day 2 of our trip. We are taking a larger umbrella style stroller for the first time...it will be easier on and off the buses but I'm concerned about what it can hold underneath in it's tiny basket...plus no cup holders anymore...I may change my mind and re-borrow our orginal stroller back from friends that I gave it too...need to do a dry run at home w/our loot.

But basically I'll have my VB hipster (first time too) w/ my personal things, cameras, and all the tickets, room keys etc....

In the stroller, we'll have one bag hopefully that will have ponchos, spare clothes for our 4 yr old, her snacks/food (she has food intolerances) a few busy itmes for her and her autograph book. At night we'll carry glow bracelets and our light up Mickey head wands.

My older 2 children both will be 11 1/2 in Nov. will carry their own bags...w/ a few personal things, autograph books, lanyards (if not wearing), pressed penny money....

this yr we don't need diapers...but since I have to carry food for my daughter w/ a small cooler bag...we still have not elimated much. We'll carry sweatshirts as needed in mornings and possibly utilize a locker if needed for the 2 days I don't plan on retunring to the resort before evening for long pants...

For those wondering how Easywdw compares to UG (touring plans) -- overall, they are using somewhat different approaches so are coming to somewhat different results.

I just checked my dates and wanted to share just some of the info:

Nov 21 both say 5's but Easy says to avoid MK and UG says to go to MK. Easy says to go to AK and UG says to avoid it.

Nov 22 Easy says 7 and UG says 6. One says to go to one park where the other says to avoid it.

Nov 23 Both have 8 and park recommendations are the same.

Nov 24 One says a 9 and the other says an 8. Both recommend the same park but differ on park to avoid.

THANKS...

I was hesitant to believe the crowd numbers for Thanksgiving week...but my choices of which parks to go to seem to still fit w/in the easy's best choice options...we are doing DHS on an EMH night...but only will be there till 1pm at latest...so I'm not that worried and we will be trying the EMH evening at MK...so that is red for everyone...we can bail and walk back to BLT if needed too...

Before the days of cell phones I always had a "meet Place" picked out anytime we went anywhere in case one of my DS became "lost"

One time at a boy scout jamboree my youngest DS(8) "disappeared" into a sea of scouts all dressed alike , all about the same size :scared1:
When we had arrived I pointed out to my DS the Gazabo and told him if we became separated to go there to meet. Yes I went to the Gazabo and there he was sitting waiting for me.:)

that is great! :thumbsup2 all are kids wear or have little id tags w/ their names, our resort and mine and DH's cell numbers...plus any importnat info like DS is autistic and my youngest DD's food issues....but I still love a meeting emergency spot...

So my kids get to pull the 1st number off our 100 day countdown calendar today and I added a little suprise last night. GREAT Calendar and I love the gifts too....I am making things too for my kids and also have some otherspecial bought items for the trip but count as early Christmas too...so we'll be having our own MVMCP before we go :santa:

weHEARTmickey, while I am so sorry for your loss, and I can tell it is a large one, what a lovely way to say farewell. What a wonderful gift you gave your mother and what a wonderful gift she gave you all. Such wonderful memories. I wish that everyone could have such an end to life. I wish I could for sure.

Hugs, Slightly Goofy:hug:
