Good morning November friends

I feel like I haven't talked to everybody in forever, when in-fact it's only been a few days!! We are just back from a weekend in Hershey and Gettysburg. We had a really nice time, but are all very tired and I have a ton of laundry to do! :faint:

Congrats to all who are hitting the 3 month mark, the 99 day mark, or the day your ticker starts with a 2 !! :cool1::banana::woohoo: This is so exciting -- We are finally getting there!! :yay:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. :)

Did you and your family enjoy your trip to Gettysburg? DH and I are both major Civil War fanatics and have visited there many, many times as well as the battlefields in Maryland and Virginia. Next C.W. tour we'll be going to Franklin, Tenn., probably next Spring.

Momof2Disneyboys, hey congratulations on having a history buff in the family. It is a fascinating subject and there are so many points of view on any one period of time. Time usually sorts most of it out though.

Chocolate World would be my pick too. It is my addiction.

My DH is a big CW buff too. I can not recall the names but I know we have gone to quite a few places (can you tell I am not into History:laughing:)We spent an entire week in Gettysbury and then he and DS :littleangel: went back a couple of years later again ( I passed that time)

In fact the reason DH wants to go back to Montana next year is to visit Custer Battlefield, I told him to go there a few years back when he visited Montana with my DS :littleangel: but instead they went to Yellowstone.

All this talk about history makes me chuckle...
When I tell people I love Disney...and get the obligatory eye roll...I explain...I like Disney the way some people like the civil war. There is a history to it...and then I go on about how Walt was bankrupt so many times and that he never got to see WDW complete. And they just sit there, jaws dropped. Everyone has a story...I just like learning about Walt's better.:thumbsup2

Neither of us were interested in history at all during our school years, it's just something that evolved; luckily, we share the interest now. I've walked across the mile wide field of Pickett's Charge in the July heat, just to experience a tiny bit of what the soldiers went through. Yes, I'm insane. :rotfl: There are also some terrific restaurants in Gettysburg and we always stay at the motel that has an indoor pool. :)

Those 3 deals that came out this morning are great..but dang, I hope more people don't show up!!:lmao: Seriously, I was hoping that my hubby would let us do a bounceback anyway in Feb....this is fantastic!!! Any of you been the first full 2 weeks of FEB and have any opinions on crowds/weather? We have been in Jan and came home on the 1st of Feb...but it was a weekend, so I have no idea how the weedays are.....

I had the same thoughts :rotfl2:

Never been the start of February I went end of January but also like you for a weekend only

Adding our name to the list. November 28-December 5! Can't wait!! Our second trip this year! So excited to spend Chirstmas time in WDW!!!

None of those beat my pin for free dining. They all either have Thanksgiving week blacked out or only go half way threw my trip like my 40% pin did. But I guess that is good for those who don't get pins.

But like some of you said, I hope it doesn't bring more people in. The parks are crowded enough these days! And bigger crowds make grumpier people!

This is easy for me to say because we stay for an extended time, are not interested in ADR's or riding the big rides like ToT etc., but if it means that more folks can afford to go I am willing to share space with them.

I can understand the fear of others about crowds though as I have been one of them in the past.

I have to be honest I never use to worry about crowds in fact I rather enjoyed all the craziness during Easter Holiday and Summer, only thing that bothered me back then was the heat, but I have to tell you we visited last year during Spring Break and it was Nuts and since we did not have ADR's finding a TS place to eat was a real challenge.

That being said I am hopeing for the low crowds this visit especially for my DS and his wife who have not been back to WDW since the late 90's, I don't do the big rides anymore either so for me that is not a problem, at least this time I have my ADR's

I wish we could have stayed longer this visit but when we could not talk my Dmil to come along (she is 77) we did not want to leave her alone too long.

sjs314, I can tell that you are someone who truly deserve a special, magical vacation. Your concern over your son and family having a good time and also not wanting to leave your mil alone shows me that you are a special person. :wizard:

I hope your trip is as wonderful as you want and that the weather is not too darned hot. I cannot handle the heat anymore either. Sucks the fun right out of things. :)

I am glad people who couldn't afford to go before may get the chance now. I really am. I believe everyone should go to Disney atleast once. And if they didn't have a good time the first time, they should try it again. I made our friends go back with us after they went once and thought it was horrible. They couldn't believe how different their 2nd trip was compared to their first. And now, they are going back again next year!

With that said, if we are being honest here, WDW is NOT the same place it used to be. I have been alot! My first trip was when I was 6 weeks old. We went 2-3 times a year until I was 17! And almost annually since. I don't know one person who has went to WDW for years like myself who can disagree that the Magic just isn't the same. I don't know if it is due to crowds or just people in general anymore, but I know we didn't notice the change until the major discounts started a few years ago. Everything is suffering for it too. From the mousekeeping to the dining. The CM are not even "Disney" anymore. It is a rare find to find a CM of ole'. But when you are dealing with the horrible personalities they have to deal with from the guest these days, I am not sure I could be all "magical" either! We went every July 4th week and most Christmas' too. So, I am used to the crowds. But it was different then. Our trip last year was so bad we really thought we would never return and that was in Aug!

I personally would be happy to pay full price every trip for the magic to return to the way it used to be.

No arguement here from me about it being different than in the past, I did not visit until '89 but yes it was so different, finding the charactors in MK was something special since there were no special meet and greets, going to the Castle to eat was so special only Cinderella was there but now with all the many charactor meals and pictures etc it has just become very much more commercialized and a little of the "magic" IMO has been lost, and it was so nice before the Dining Plan to just be able to walk up to a restaurant and be seated or make a same day ressie at the entrance in Epcot, I will never stop going to WDW but I do miss the old days.

As far as the CM's I believe some of it has to do with the economy and persons having to take positions they in better times would never do, it takes a special type of person to be a CM and truely love their job which comes across in how they take care of the guest each and every day.

What a beautiful post, Angela. I am so sorry you lost your mom, but you will be together again - without pain next time.

My mom got some bad news on Friday. They have suspended her chemo infefinitely. :sad2: She's been having some symptoms that require her to get a CT of her brain this week. We'll get results on Friday. It's is very hard not to worry, but we know that whatever happens is the way it is supposed to be. We trust God's plan.

Oh, I'm so sorry TruBlu :sad2: I sent you a pm.

Exactly! And it all hit at the same time. The economy, the discounts and the personality changes. And I guess you all noticed, we are going again! ;) WDW is a hard addiction to break! lol
