The New,New Hotel Thread-Yes, We're STILL Waiting

I hate the fact that I am still on here even though I am leery at LMT's practices!!! GRRR!!

Here's my theory: I think this could be a case of good marketing gone wrong. It probably sounded like a great promo to LMT "on paper," but it sounds to me like they didn't think it through and take into consideration all the crazy people that would "promote" other sites to "help" win the World for $1...like c4c, Roboform, Chatango...etc.

LMT is now in over their heads and they are trying to swim out of it. Problem is...they don't know how.

that's the only reason I'm still here - I think it was a case of them getting in over their heads, and if I do happen to get booked, I think they will honor it.

all I need is one shot - 5 minutes. Oh, and nothing to go wrong. :rotfl2:

i think now you just gotta hope they don't go bankrupt before you take that trip if you win it!!!

I got through this morning about 10:20 cst. Got a room for Nashville in June during the CMA Music Festival. Pretty exciting. I was just skipping around on different pages and the video came up. I had plenty of time.

They say you could have to pay income taxes, but I'm wondering when they would collect your SSN? If it's advertised as a sale and not a giveaway, I'm not sure how you'd have to pay taxes.

Well, just fired off a message to LMT customer service with a screen shot of that pop-up I received telling me the promotion was over when I still had over 2 minutes on the clock.

We'll see if anything comes of it. I highly doubt it. They don't seem to be a company that follows through on their word, unfortunately.

The same thing happened to me last week. I sent them an email about it. I got the "form reply" saying someone would get back with me in 4 hours. Yeah ummm it has been 4 DAYS:rotfl: and I have not heard anything from them.

I hope you hear from them soon.

I don't plan to let this go.

Got my response which does NOT address why it timed out on me BEFORE my time was out! Seems to be another form letter.

Dear valued client,

I can confirm the promotion is absolutely still running – with week two starting on Monday and continuing through Friday. During the first 6 days of The World for $1 sale, 955 reservations were made sending 2,261 people to 230 different destinations for free. We have massively reduced the use of robotic or other non-manual activity on LastMinuteTravel .com as it is against the terms and conditions. However, for individuals who explore www.lastminutetravel.com, The World for $1 sale is still available for a total of 15 minutes per day - no more than 3 sessions of no less than 5 minutes - covering the entire hotel inventory. The purpose of this sale was to introduce people to our website – and the stand-out rates, availability, service and technology. I suggest instead of simply refreshing, get to know the site a little better.

Note that if you are signed up to receive hints, the last one went out on Friday as we start a fresh new week to The World for $1 sale.

I hope I was able to give you some additional insight.

If you have any further questions, please let us know

Thank You

I got through and booked at a time different from when the SD thread says the windows were open. So it appears to be random.

My response

This does not address my question. I WAS exploring the site. I was looking up your different destinations and price comparing. I was NOT hitting "refresh". I explained that in my first email. I'm assuming with the number of complaints you are receiving, this is a form letter but I do hope you answer *my* concerns.

As I stated in my original email my entry was halted and a popup said the promotion had ended when I still had 2 1/2 minutes on the clock. I had plenty of time to complete the form I was filling out.

You state we will be given NO LESS than 5 minute intervals however you timed me out LESS than 5 minutes in for NO reason.

I await your response addressing my specific concerns.

This exact response has been posted all over the place today...their blog, Facebook, Janice has sent out emails to people.....

Oh yeah.... we were all introduced alright... not the sort of introduction I'm sure they were looking for ;)

Sorry they didn't address your issue. For crying out loud, we're not looking for affirmation that the promotion is still running. We know that, LMT. We want to know WHY we got a pop-up that says the promotion is OFF when we still had time on the clock after filling out all the required fields!

I just got a call from LMT.

They congratulated me on getting a room in their promotion and they wanted me to be sure I knew it was free.

I said yes. I asked if my husband could also try since it was still on (killing two birds here), she said yes, as long as my husband uses a different credit card and a different computer.

So there you go. And I have her number stored in my phone if I need to call them back.

When did you get in? I got in on Friday morning and still haven't received a phone call. I'm wondering if I should call them. Thanks

I'm by NO means a sue happy girl and I recognize it has been MY choice to sit by my computer WAY too long playing "Desmond".. however, I did so believing I had a fair chance at a deal.

Knowing now I had NO chance as I wasn't even given the allotted time, I feel my time was basically mocked.

If there IS a class action lawsuit COUNT ME IN.

Ok I got in and I went through everything with 5 seconds to spare when I pressed the confirm button. When the confirmation came up it was for $974.44 for 2 nights in NYC at the Shelbourne Hotel. Talked to a Suzanne and they are going to call me back on whether I got in in time. My issue is that if I didn't get in on time they will have to credit me fast as I do not havr that amount of credit on my credit card!
