The New,New Hotel Thread-Yes, We're STILL Waiting

This is what I found on the Blog today:

We've seen a lot more questions popping up over the last 24 hours, so here are some answers!
The sale is still happening! Week two starting yesterday (February 2). During the first 6 days of The World for $1 sale, 955 reservations were made sending 2,261 people to 230 different destinations for free. We have completely limited the use of robotic or other non-manual activity on LastMinuteTravel.com as it is against the terms and conditions. However, for individuals who explore www.lastminutetravel.com, The World for $1 sale is very much available for a total of 15 minutes per day - no more than 3 sessions of no less than 5 minutes - covering the entire hotel inventory.

The purpose of this sale is to introduce people to the website – and the stand-out rates, availability, service and technology. Instead of simply refreshing, get to know the site a little better.

BYW: If you are signed up to receive hints, the last one went out Friday as a fresh new week of The World for $1 sale begins
.

I am not stalking anymore because I need to get some things done this week. But they say it's still going on????

Ok NOW I'm ANGRY!

I did the 4 adults 1 kid thing and only had house rentals so I researched 2 adults... watched video AGAIN... picked my resort and had more than 2 1/2 minutes left on the clock. I was signed in but it made me sign in again... and STILL less than 2 1/2 minutes clicking and "sorry your time is up" pops up.

I'm SHAKING

This is so aggravating. I keep getting that letter about violating the terms, and type in the code. I don't get why. Can I keep trying? If I delete cookies, do I need a new e mail address to resign up?

I just got a call from LMT.

They congratulated me on getting a room in their promotion and they wanted me to be sure I knew it was free.

I said yes. I asked if my husband could also try since it was still on (killing two birds here), she said yes, as long as my husband uses a different credit card and a different computer.

So there you go. And I have her number stored in my phone if I need to call them back.

I tried the deleting cookies thing and the video popped up. I watched it, only had 3:15. We were willing to be anywhere on property (since I had mistakenly thought my DW wanted off prop and had pricelined a hotel only to draw immense ire) so I just picked the first one to save time. I logged in, it wouldn't recognize, then I did it again. Filled out the info. and watched the second video. I had 1:15 remaining. Luckily I am a fast typist (even when nervous) and got it finished with :40 remaining. Then it refused to take the code at the bottom, three times, I finally get it in with 10 secs, answer the questions in blazing speed and confirmed just in time.

I got All Star Sports. Obviously not my first choice, but we'll have fun for free. Now I gotta get rid of this pricelined hotel.

anyone know what this is?

I got it after I did a search and book it.

ATTENTION
The session with the server has ended, please click on the continue button in order to begin your traveling.

I print the screen I got when I had 2 1/2 minutes left. I don't know how to post it here tho.

So it sounds to me like they are just randomly offering the promo whenever they want to whoever they want and they cutting most people off right at the last moment.

Yep, see my thread "So who's ready to throw in the towel?".

This is the message I had received with plenty of time still left on the clock.

For those of you that have spoken with LMT customer service and they told you the promotion was still running, may I have their email address? I would like to forward this message to them that we're all getting. It is NOT a time's up message!

Quoting myself bc this is getting lost in the shuffle.

I had plenty of time left on the clock and received this message instead of a confirmation.

Could someone please post the contact information for LMT's customer service? I SHOULD have been able to book. I had everything filled in with time remaining. I'd like to be able to forward this message to LMT.

Been at it all day off & on ... deleting cookies, surfing the site ... and no video at all.

I really would like to try it, but would be afraid of becoming to obsessive.
Also, I would like to know more about what people are posting regarding the BBB and the bank in India. What is that all about?

Lacey how'd you print that screen? That's EXACTLY what happened to me!

My letter to CS (link to contact at bottom of their site)

Dear Sirs,

I have been following this promotion since last week and have spent more than 20 hours at some times waiting for this promotion to pop up for a $1 a night hotel stay.

This afternoon I was browsing your site and looking at other options for future bookings. Suddenly a pop-up came on and said to go to the home page as the promotion was starting. I did so and went through all of the steps. I watched the video and still had more than 2 1/2 minutes left to book. I clicked "sellect" on the hotel of my choice and it said "sorry... the promotion is done" (in so many words). I still had plenty of time!

I am quite upset and angry as I"ve spent MANY hours on your site and have gotten very excited for finally having the opportunity at your promotion then it ends in the middle of my entry?

I have been following other threads about your promotion and see this isnt' the first this has happened. Now I understand why all the talk of a class action lawsuit! I'm VERY upset and offended. This isn't a game and my time IS valuable. I feel it is worth spent on your site with a chance to win this but from what I"ve just experienced, I question the "Chance" we are actually offered!

From false emails to no standard of time zone you are sticking to (therefore last week being a few times that there were NOT 15 minutes of offers in a 24 hour period)... this sounds like QUITE a fraud!

name name
phone number

I began to obsess over the whole thing but it really seems extremely sketchy.

Why do so many people get to CC screen, enter the number and suddenly have no time.
Why is it the world for a $1 if they are giving it away?
Will you receive a 1099 or are you only responsible for the hotel taxes?
In an economy like this, how is this company able to afford a promotion like this. Nearly 1,000 trips booked already - that's a ton of money itself.

I don't know - it just really seems a bit over the top for me.

Is this thread going to maz out by the end of the day? 3 or 4 of these a day? HAHA. The promo is at least getting the BUZZ for LMT

I'd like to at least get the rush of trying. I can't even get the video to come up no matter what I try. Oh well!

After staring at the screen in disbelief for a couple of minutes, I then hit print screen on my keyboard to "copy" it, then opened up a paint program to "paste" it. Then saved it to a file on my computer.

Wish I had thought to take a print screen of my countdown clock after I had all my information filled out, but I really had no idea they would hit me with this screen after clicking book/confirm.

VERY unfair and dishonest to run the promotion, then not honor it when people finish the entire booking process within the time allotted.

Shame on you, LMT.

I hate the fact that I am still on here even though I am leery at LMT's practices!!! GRRR!!

Here's my theory: I think this could be a case of good marketing gone wrong. It probably sounded like a great promo to LMT "on paper," but it sounds to me like they didn't think it through and take into consideration all the crazy people that would "promote" other sites to "help" win the World for $1...like c4c, Roboform, Chatango...etc.

LMT is now in over their heads and they are trying to swim out of it. Problem is...they don't know how.

You couldn't have.. the clock goes away when the popup comes up.. if you back space it shows the clock at 0 minutes.

I don't have a paint program but my screen looked JUST like yours.

I feel like such an idiot but I seriously feel like crying right now.

Probably lack of sleep.

I'm not kidding when I said last night my dreams were filled with button pushing and vacation planning.
