Okay - I was a little concerned about staying in the GV rooms. I had never stayed at the GF without CL (though I wasn't a big fan of SL

).
So, here it goes. The room was not renovated. It was the yellow/blue theme, but we did get the room we requested, #5431. When we arrived, we were greeted by a picture from Minnie and Mickey, a rose, bottle of champagne, and a white chocolate Mickey with white chocolate strawberries.

They were all wonderful!
Here are pics of our room -
We did still get nightly turn down service, which was nice after a long day at the park. The new chocolates,

Even in the GV rooms, H2O toiletries are used.
The room was clean, and we liked having the taller ceilings. It made the room feel larger. I can say, however, the GV rooms are smaller than the standard RPC rooms.
I liked being at the GF, but it was different having to walk to the main building for the monorail. As for the busses, it was 2 days into the trip that we found the "back way" to the busport and didn't have to walk through the lobby to outside. We were in Sago Cay, so we walked around the right side of the main building, which led to the busport on the left and the Convention Center on the right.
The GV rooms were nice, but I was hoping to see one of the renovated rooms in person. I don't personally like them in the pictures, they are a little *too* beige for me. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
I was also a little unused to not having snacks and drinks available. At one point, we tried to move to CL, but since SL was closing on Sunday, the only room we could hope for was RPC, which was unavailable.

On Friday, I contacted Private Dining to have a tray of the CL desserts sent to the room, but it took an act of God to get it done, not to mention a $76 charge...

We couldn't get them until Saturday, as the pastry chef had already left for the day on Friday. I don't know why they couldn't just get them from RPC...

I asked for the cream puffs, fruit tarts, and orange or lemon cakes. When the mgr. called on Saturday, she said that none of them were available, RPC doesn't serve those desserts anymore. I told her that anything would be fine, as long as it didn't have nuts on it. She called me back and said due to the fact that I can't have nuts, the only thing I could have would be cream puffs and fruit tarts....
All in all, the GV wasn't bad. It was much cheaper than RPC (we had an AP rate of $255), so I would say we got the most for our $$. It is quite a bit more walking from the transportation, but when you are in Disney, what is another 1/2 mile or so?
