OMG I just love this thread. You guys are some informative. We are staying at the CR Theme Park view in June 2010 for 2 nights as a surprise for our DS. He is going to be so excited. He won't know until we pull up to the CR. I just read krbq's post and our DS will really love the fact that the 12th floor is open to the concourse. Very exciting.

We have stayed on both 12th & 14th floor and prefer the 12th floor Atrium Club The new lounge that they added is terrific (roomy too) and the new rrfurbed rooms are so nice too...The balconies are bigger on the 14th floor...but on the 12th you can sit outside very nicely to watch Wishes or just enjoy that beautiful view..

What a nice surprise for your DS...enjoy!!

We always stay on either the 12th or the 14th. The redo on the 12th is wonderful but I also enjoy the wider, larger balconies on the 14th. Either way you are going to love staying on the CL. The concierges are fantastic! They really make your trip hassle free.

 

[CR Resort Fan 4 Life]

Atrium is on the 12th floor and had a total rehab, with new furniture, sinks and closets. The 12th floor is open to the Concourse.

Tower Club is on the 14th floor and had a soft rehab, keeping the old furniture, sinks, and closets, but getting new drapes, bedspreads, carpets, lamps, TV's, and adding the computers. The artwork in the rooms is original art. They are the same size as standard rooms on other floors, but they have much larger balconies. The 14th floor is NOT open to the Concourse and is therefore much quieter.

Don't forget that the 14th floor also has a grand total of 16 rooms, where as the 12th floor has the same amount of rooms as the other Tower floors, with the exception of 2 or 3 rooms because the lounge was built where they use to be.

Anyway here is the floor plan of the 14th floor if anyone is intrested in seeing what it looks like.

Thanks BlueSkies. Our DS has talked about staying at the CR for about 5 years now. So we figured since he will be 14 then he would appreciate it more. Just as long as we are able to sit on our balcony and watch Wishes is good for us. Looking forward to booking the reservation now.

Not only is this our first stay on the monorail, it is our first stay in a deluxe resort. We are so excited to be so central the the parks, have such great transportation options and stay in such a lovely atmosphere. We got a great deal on our stay too, only 2,800 for 5 nights plus 6 days of park passes for
our family of 4!

I'll be staying with my mother (49), father (58), and brother (20). My dad and brother are excited for the water sports, and my mom and I can't wait to take the monorail over to the GF for tea. We're just planning our ADRs now, and trying to figure out if we're getting tickets for MVMCP.

Just a few quick questions-

We are staying in a garden view standard room... are there any particular rooms we can request so we can ensure we don't have a view of the parking lot?

I've read that the 3 monorail deluxe resorts are lenient about pool hopping, but I'm not sure if this is really the case? I doubt we will have much time for swimming anyway, but I'm curious!

Also, do you think it is worth it to make an ADR at the Cali Grill for their flatbreads? We are not doing the DDP and would like to eat at the restaurant, but I don't know if that's considered a "faux pas" not to order any main dishes?

Pool hopping is not allowed, even if you are at a monorail resort.

California Grill has great food, but I have never just ordered an appetizer there, so I'm not sure if I would do that. If you decide to eat an actual meal there, the filet is awesome!

I was also hoping to get up to the CG just for a flat bread and a drink. I was going to try to get into the lounge though, versus making a table reservation. I don't believe there's anything wrong with just ordering an appetizer (I do this all the time at local restaurants), but I figured it's such a hard ressie to get, I'd let someone who wants the full meal have a chance to get it.

Ooh, I just checked our reservation and it says "Garden Tower, Garden View Room".

Does this mean I am guaranteed to not look out over the parking lot?

Standard view looks out over the parking lot. Garden View is a view of the pool, lawns or Bay Lake.

I have a dinner reservation on Sunday at the Wave for 6:55pm. Wishes is scheduled for 8:00pm that evening. Assuming for a moment (maybe it's not a reasonable assumption?) that we will be finished with dinner by 8, is there a place somewhere in/just outside the Contemporary that we can reasonably view Wishes? If not I may try and change my ressie. Thanks!

You can view Wishes from the fourth floor observation deck (just go to the elevators and go to the fourth floor. The deck is past the store.) Or you can go outside and see them from the front of the hotel.

I am currently typing in my room. I have been blown away by the CR!!!!!! I love the patio view I have here at the South Wing. We can watch the Water Pagent Parade from the room.

I just walked from the Magic Kingdom. And the construction is not bad when you are in the tower.

My little family has fallen in love with this resort. It was a last minute resort change that landed us here and at first I was reluctant to go, but since we got here, WOW!!!!!

The lowest possible floor you can get is the 6th floor and the highest one is the 11th floor. I should also mention there are no Magic Kingdom Views on the 5th floor because of the Monorail station, so they will only have the Bay Lake View. Anyway a few years ago my family and I had the Magic Kingdom View on the 6th floor and we thought the view from there looked great and found nothing wrong with it.

thanks for the quick response! my husband figured we could do the fireworks from our balcony as we missed them last trip (too late for the small kids), so I guess any MK view room is great
