The NEW Disney's Contemporary Resort FAQ with PICTURES! (Feb 2008)

We just ate there at the end of August. My family and I dressed "business casual" as we always had when dining there. We were quite surprised to see people in shorts, t-shirts, and yes, even tank tops.

Disney defines business casual differently than the corporate world. Shorts, jeans, tees are completely appropriate, as are sneakers. And generally the tank top restriction seems to apply to men or to traditional tank tops, not the cami tops (not sure what tank tops you saw, but people get concerned about wearing dressy camis or sleeveless tops which are fine).

I am not 100% sure but I think it's business casual, so hopefully someone can confirm that.

Thanks for the clarification! :) It just seemed that people were more casual than they had been in the past. My twelve year old son would have been thrilled not to have put on a collared shirt! LOL

The dress code used to stricter (but not always enforced) and required a collared shirt for men. I don't know exactly when it changed since it didn't affect us -DH wears polos or button down shirts even to the parks. I'm guessing, rather than not enforce the dress code they had, they just relaxed it a bit.

Hi, I am new to this site and just wanted some info. on a few things. I am trying to book CR for next spring and wanted a MK view room, but I've been told that all MK view rooms are now club level, does anybody know is this is true for 2009?

On a second separate note, how are the day beds at the contemporary? comfy? hard? lumpy? thanks

CR Resort Fan 4 Life, you always seem to have an answer to my questions!

Thanks so much to everyone for posting all this wonderful info!

Whoever told you that was wrong.

The change for 2009 is that IF you book a club level room, you can also book a MK view. Before January 1, 2009, if you booked a club level room you could not guarantee the view ... it could be MK, it could be Bay Lake.

So for 2009 they are allowing club level guests to guarantee (and pay for) the view they want.

The club level rooms are on floors 12 and 14 (there is no 13). The "regular" tower - MK view rooms are still on floors 6 through 11.

So like I said, whoever told you that all MK view rooms in 2009 are club level was confusing the fact that club level rooms will now be available with the a guarantee of an MK view OR the guarantee of a Bay Lake view.

If this doesn't make sense to you, please ask for clarification.

And also ... :welcome: :disrocks:

CleveRocks is correct. There are at least as I divide them 2 main categories: Standard and Concierge (Tower Club and Atrium Club). Within those, you can book either a MK view or a Bay Lake view. So who ever told you that is incorrect.

And also :welcome: To The DIS :welcome:

By the way, CR Resort Fan 4 Life, it sounds like our families were both staying at the Atrium Club at the same time. We always go down the last two weeks in August and stay at the CR, either Atrium or Tower Club. It was wonderful as always but I miss Janet. We were lucky enough to see her at the front desk a few times though. :)
I agree that it was weird not seeing Janet working on the 12th floor since she was there for so many years, however we also did speak with her a few times while she was in the lobby.

You are 100% correct about and the way you described it makes perfect senese to me.

Does the Atrium have water bottles to take back with you?

Not that I can remember seeing. They do have chilled Evian water in glass bottles. A couple of years ago my son got sick while we were there and they brought a few of them to our room so we wouldn't have to keep running back and forth. I'm sure if you asked they'd give you a bottle or two to keep in your room.

That's exactly what they did for us and other guests in the past.

What are the physical differences between standard club rooms and standard? I notice some from the photos. Did the club not get updated? Are the rooms larger?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Atrium is on the 12th floor and had a total rehab, with new furniture, sinks and closets. The 12th floor is open to the Concourse.

Tower Club is on the 14th floor and had a soft rehab, keeping the old furniture, sinks, and closets, but getting new drapes, bedspreads, carpets, lamps, TV's, and adding the computers. The artwork in the rooms is original art. They are the same size as standard rooms on other floors, but they have much larger balconies. The 14th floor is NOT open to the Concourse and is therefore much quieter.
