Does anyone know if the "Fast and Casual" Meal Ticket's cover the 10% surcharge at the PM and if they cover breakfast?

Leaving in two days and can't wait!

Shawn,

All of the areas are beautiful. It just depends on what you prefer. I like the Ranchos best .The Cabanas are very laid back and tropical and the Casitas are more "formal" with courtyards and fountains. CSR is my favorite resort and I did not think I would like it at all. My DH and I went for our anniversary and here are some things you can do at the resort that are fun:

-The breakfast buffet at Maya Grill was wonderful! I am sure the dinner is just as good.

-Rent a surrey bike and ride all around the resort
-rent the boats!
-walk around the resort at night-breathtaking!
-lay in hammock
-hang out in the hot tub
-hang out in your quiet pool
-go down the slide a million times (we had a blast!)
-check out the spa
-buy matching shirts in the gift shop to commemorate your honeymoon- beach towels are also a great honeymoon souvenier. Dh and I collect magnets fom every resort we stay at . It an inexpensive way to remember all your trips together. We really need them for all of our son's art work!

This is a great resort for couples!!! Lots to do for kids, too. We can't wait to take our son there!

Thanks so much everyone for the great answers! We are really excited about the summer trip we have planned. :)

One more quick question--does CSR designate a particular casita, cabana or rancho as N/S or Smoking? I know they did this with other resorts and wanted to see if this is the case at CSR as well. I am getting ready to make our ressie and was going to "request" the following:
1-Non-Smoking
2-Casitas 1 or 3
3-Top Floor
4-Nice View

I realize that they are all requests but am wondering if Casitas 1 or 3 are designated smoking--that way I can ask for something else.

TIA!!

Hi My Passporter shows Casitas 3, 4 and Cabanas building 9A as smoking. If this is wrong please someone let me know!:bounce:

Kjustice,
Hi! What is the "fast and casual" meal ticket? I don't think I've ever heard of it. Is this something you could use on all Disney property?

Thanks,
Krispe:confused:

There is a great thread about the meal vouchers & here's the link:
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=367309

It explains it far better than I ever could-lol!

As far as the Pepper Market 10%, I have never seen that question before so I'm not sure. You might want to post it over on the Budget Board (where there are lots of voucher experts) and perhaps they would have the answer?

Good Luck!

Looking at the map in my Passporter, smoking sections appear to be Casitas bldg 1 floors 3 and 4 and Cabanas bldg 9A .

We are requesting a top floor room in Casitas 3. I would like Casitas 1, but we want a top floor room and the top floors in Casitas 1 are smoking. My DH has asthma that is triggered by cigarette smoke, so a nonsmoking section is very important for us.

This will be our first time at CSR (we usually stay at POFQ as it's smaller but due to the refurb work we're opting for CSR). Can anyone suggest the 'perfect' location for us? We've booked a waterview room and our priority is to be near the restaurants and a bus stop, we're not going to be making use of the pool so don't need to be near it. Thanks.

Time for another long awaited UPDATE!! I'm soooo sorry it's taken me so long! I adore CSR and want to try my best to upkeep this thread.

.Just an added side note, I booked CSR under the Fairytale Package for my stay from Aug 20 - 27!!! I'm extremely happy! And I'm under 100 days until that trip!!! Woohoo!

Anyways, right now I'm going to post some Important Info from epcotfan's site! (Hope you don't mind epcotfan, if you do i will delete the post immediately)

Check Out Time is 11:00am

Check In Time is 3:00pm

Postage Machine, Mailbox and ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) are located in the main lobby of El Centro (near the washrooms/phone room beside the registration counter) Be aware they charge heavier withdraw fees than your regular bank may.

Internet Kiosk is located in the phone room adjacent to the entrance to the Convention Center. Walk down the hallway between Francisco's and the Pepper Market and enter the Convention Center. The phone room will be on your left near the washrooms. The Internet Kiosk costs $1.00 for 4 minutes of time. The Machine accepts cash (bills- 1, 5, 10, 20) and credit cards for internet use. I had an easy time using dollar bills. You could put the bills in either way and they were always easily accepted.

Sundries can be purchased at Panchito's Gifts & Sundries. They carry a good selection of travel essentials from medication to toiletries. They had pretty much everything you could possibly need if you forgot something. Flu medication, Dramamine, Q-tips, Contacts supplies, shampoo, first aid essentials, over the counter drugs, etc...you name it. Next time I will not bring so much stuff. I can purchase it there if necessary ;) Here is a picture of the snack and sundries area.

Snack Foods are available at Panchito's Gifts & Sundries. There were the standard Enteman's Doughnuts, mini muffins, and brownies. They had a vast array of Pringles potato chips and Cape Cod Kettle Potato Chips. It seems they don't carry Wise Potato chips anymore :( They did however have Wise Popcorn (cheese and regular) There are lots of beverages including milk, chocolate milk, bottled beer, canned beer, wine, spirits, juice and fruit drinks. I did not see any sandwich fixings such as sliced meat or cheese. If you plan on getting a fridge and eating in your room to save on meals, visit a grocery store. They also carry quite a bit of Disney Mickey Mouse snack foods such as cookies (like the Pepperidge Farm type) crackers, pretzels, chocolate snacks and a gazzilion lollipops!

La Tienda Sells packaged sandwiches, cold drinks, snacks, whole fruit, alcohol, beverages and salads. Newspapers can be purchased here as well.

Ice & Vending Machines are located near the elevators. They tend to alternate beverage and snack machines between floors. The snack machines contains chips, chocolate bars and cookies. The beverages machines have water, coke, sprite, iced tea, and other assorted sodas. An ice machine can be found where the soda machines are. Ice is free. Ice buckets can be found in your room. TIP: We brought some clean garbage bags and filled the recycling bin with ice. It was large enough to hold big bottles of water and soda.

Quiet Pools are open from 8 am until 10pm.

The Digsite Theme Pool is open until 12am. Hours may vary due to inclement weather. The pool features the "Pyramid Of The Sun" which has a waterfall that flows down the front. There are steps at the bottom for sitting on and relaxing. I loved sitting there and letting the flow of water relax my back. This is also a great spot for a photo! The pool does have a lifeguard during the day. Lifeguard hours vary. The pool is has a section with a water basketball hoop. You can get a ball from the Siesta Grill. There is also a water slide that features a Jaguar which spits water as you pass under it. I found this slide to be one of the faster ones at a Disney Hotel. A Towel Cart can be found at the Dig Site. There is also a merchandise cart that sells sunscreen, pool toys, bathing suits, towels, and other fun in the sun items.

Arcades There are two game arcades at Coronado Springs. The Jumping Bean Arcade is located in the main hall (the one that leads to the Pepper Market from the Registration Area) in El Centro. The Iguana Arcade can be found at the Dig Site. It is adjacent to the Playground and Washrooms. Coin machines are available for making change.

Whirlpool/Jacuzzi is open from 8am to Midnight. Hours can vary. The Spa holds 22 people. The maximum use is 15minutes and the temperature is 104°F. The nice thing about this spa is that is away from the main pool area and is a bit secluded. There are pool lounge chairs surrounding it.

Volleyball There is a volleyball court opposite Siesta's. Volleyballs are availabe for use at Siesta's. You must show resort ID to use one

Hi there Clare!!

Welcome to the thread! CSR is a great choice for a resort I'm sure you'll love it. If you'd like to be close to the restaurants and a bus stop I would suggest a room in Casitas 4. That way you'll get a waterview of either they very well kept quiet pool of the Casitas and right by Bus Stop 2. You will also be within a few minute walk of El Centro where the Pepper Market is.

You could also go for Casitas 1 or 3 and use the main bus stop at the entrance to El Centro and be right beside the Pepper Market.

I wanted to start by thanking everyone for all the info in this thread. After reading the whole thing, I'm so excited about staying here. This was the one moderate that we've been afraid to try, but now since we can't get into POR with AP rates, we're going to try it and hopefully love it as much as many of you do! Buzz2001 your website is awesome- Disney should employ you to advertise CSR! You sold us! :teeth:

Just a couple of quick questions that may or may not have already been asked (Sorry if I missed the answers :o )
1) Are there any hammocks?
2) If we request Rancheros how far is that from El Centro (this is where the Pepper Market is right?)
3) Could someone please explain Pepper Market for takeout and to get drink refills in your mugs?

Hi weluvpluto!

Thanks for checking out the thread. Trust me, there's nothing to be scared about in staying at CSR! I know you'll love it!

Ok I'm gonna try to answer you're questions.

1) Yes I believe there are hammocks. They are located on the beach that stretches in front of the Casitas. I've never used one myself, but they look extremely tempting to curl up in and read a book, take a nap or relax.

2) The Ranchos are a section that I personally haven't stayed at. I would recommend that you request Ranchos 7B as it is the closest of the Ranchos to El Centro (yes the pepper market is in El Centro) I would estimate the walk being about 7 - 10 minutes. But I'm not really sure.

3) Again, personally I've never refilled my mugs at the Pepper Market. Might I suggest, if you are intending to stay in the Rancho that you use Siestas pool bar as the way you most often refill your mugs. It would be much less of a walk. From what I've heard, to refill your mug in the pepper market, if you intend to just refill & leave, they will stamp a card indicating you refilled then you have to line up at the cashier at the exit and they must check your stamped ticket before you leave.

TinkerBelle -
I just want to say thank you for starting this thread! We are going to Disney in August and were thinking about staying at POR or CBR, both of which we have stayed at before. Thanks to your thread we made the decision to try out CSR!
Thanks again!!:Pinkbounc

TinkerKel,

I'm glad you've enjoyed the thread. I fell i love with CSR the first time I stayed there and have returned numerous times. When in August are you going? I'm at CSR from Aug 19 - 27th!! I can't wait! I know you'll love it there!

Thanks everyone for the helpful info! I have booked CSR for our July trip. I actually called and made the ressies the same day the AP rates came out. So later that day (after the better rates) I called back and they adjusted the rate--we're paying about $93.xx per night w/tax for mid-July-standard room-yeah!

I requested the following for our trip:
N/S (guaranteed for medical reasons), Casitas 3, top floor w/nice view. I felt a little awkward requesting all that but the CM I spoke with was very nice and thought the requests were not unusual or "asking too much". Of course, nothing but the NS is guaranteed so we'll see what happens.

Thanks again to everyone who contributes to this thread--can't wait to report back!

Hi! I just wanted to jump in here and answer a few questions and share my experience. We just got back yesterday from a very very hot stay at CSR. The weather was 95 every day! It was dreadful ..... so much that we flat out refuse to go any other time than November or December. It wouldn't have been so bad had there been a breeze and no humidity.

First off, whoever was doing the room assignments for our stay did us right! We stayed in Cabanas 9B room 9546. The room was located right after you cross the bridge to get to the Cabanas and in the back facing the small pond. Beautiful, quiet, and a GREAT location. It was also on the first floor. We did hear the people above us when they dropped something on the floor, but that was it. Plus, the bridge to go to the dig site was right when we came out. We really didn't care about a water view since we didn't spend anytime looking out our window.

Pepper Market: We went there every pretty much every day for breakfast and never had a bad experience. We only ate a full breakfast one day and it was the egg, hashbrown, bacon, and biscuit skillet. Not a home cooked meal, but very good just the same. The other days we just got some pastries to go. When you are getting things to go you have to stop at the hostess stand and pick up your card to get it stamped. When you are going just for a refill they give you a laminated card that says "Refill ONLY" which you just showed on your way out the door. As for the 10% that is included in your meal.....I didn't have a problem paying it because each time someone helped us it meant less that I would have to do. Giving someone $2 for getting all of our sodas and anything else we needed was nothing. Yesterday we used a voucher that we got for doing the DVC tour and it included our 10% .... I think that was a question someone had asked.

The Dig Site: we went to the pool almost every day including yeterday before we left. The pool could have been colder (like the baby pool), but anything was better than the heat outside of the pool. I took my refillable mug to the pool every day also and was able to get something to drink at Siesta's. You can also buy the mugs there also for $10.95.

I think that's about it for now.

I wanted to thank everyone for all the great information on this thread. I also just returned Sunday. My experience was pretty good as well, but thought I would share a few negatives.

1) Our room was filthy. The carpet was crushed and so dirty that my 10 month old's legs and feet had to be washed everytime we left the room. There were spiderwebs coming out of the vents and on the wall under the vent.

2) We requested a port-a-crib at reservation (4 weeks ago) that was confirmed at checkin at 1pm. We left for Epcot and returned at 9:30pm, still no crib. I called Housekeeping at 9:30pm and still no crib by 10:15pm. I called again and it showed up at 10:50pm.

Just for information - the bus sometimes goes to Blizzard Beach as well (I have read it only services CSR).

kjustice, Just wondering what room you guys had? Sorry to hear about the filthy room! Did you try to complain about it?

We stayed at the CSR a couple weeks ago and we stayed in Cabanas 9b room 9650! I have to agree it was a great location. Probably the best there is. Close to the Dig site and close to Bus stop #1 and El Centro.
