How far in advance should I put in my request for Jamaica in order to get a refurbed room for our CBR stay from December 12-20? I'm assuming that Aruba will also be finished by then, but want to be 100% sure that I request a refurbed area.

We just got back last week. I requested Jamaica . At check in they had us in Barbados. I nicely asked for Jamaica because my boys are bigger than me and I really wanted the bigger beds.

And they said no problem and gave me Jamaica 45! It was the best location!

Refurb rooms are great. Love the long shelf in the bathroom and the wood doors instead of a curtain.

So if you don't get your request ASK you still might get it:)

Thanks for the response to my question, just changed my profile. I've stayed at POFQ Jan 2011, POR Jan 2013, and was hesitant to go to another resort (even though we spend very little time in our room). This trip will be a little longer and we'll probably spend more time at the resort. I don't want to be too far from the main pool or the buses so I figured Jamaica would be good especially since the refurb.

Just returned last night from CBR, stayed from 8/19-8/26.We stayed in sec 46 in Jamica. The refurbished rooms are Fantastic.@ Queen size beds ,New carpeting, new showers. They look like there very buzy doing work in other sections. Any Questions just ask.

Did you find that Jamaica was a good location for the buses?

While I am not the person that you asked the question of, I can provide our opinion of the buses in Jamaica. Oftentimes, Jamaica is the first to pick up and the first to drop off. Other times, they are in the middle of the bus route. We have stayed when the resort was at capacity, during Star Wars Weekends, Memorial Day, 24 hour celebration, all during the month of May, early June and early to mid-August. Each time, we have had great bus "mojo" as we like to call it. They ran efficiently the entire time.

Excellent! Thanks for your input, the more info the better

Do they have the Cuisenart large pod coffee makers in the new rooms?

WOOT finally made it to my 60 day mark and did my on-line check-in! Requested 2nd floor Jamaica since i really want a refurbished room!! Not for the queen beds since we're getting a king-bed (screams holiday to the wife of a kicker!) but just because we think the new rooms look so fresh and comfy! FP+ are all done -- even snagged a time with A & E to get an autograph for our 25 yr old daughter (SERIOUSLY??)

Question for those who have been in the new rooms about the coffee pots. Will we be able to simply heat water in them?? I'm married to a true coffee snob and he'll be bringing his own blend with a Bodum French Press.

They do have the Cuisinart coffee makers in the rooms. I have no idea if they can be used to just heat water, but maybe these photos will provide some guidance?

Do the rooms have DVD players?

No DVD players.

Haha I'm bringing my French press too! I was thinking of either getting boiling water from the food court or buying a small cheap kettle to bring in my suitcase. Lol

Heck we'll be even one stop further along the stupid train! Hubby has some serious gut issues so we need to buy bottled water!! Even for brushing teeth, so perhaps buying a cheapo kettle somewhere when we get there might be a better plan! Thanks for mentioning that idea :thumbsup2 Wanna know what turned him onto the French press?? Dinner for our 15th anniversary at Victoria's and Albert's ... my goodness that has become the meal that keeps on giving!! Fool, buys beans and uses his Burr grinder every morning :rolleyes1

You are welcome! Feel free to post any questions. Lots of CBR lovers here.

I called reservations and requested buildings 44 or 45. Will make the request again during online check in. I had a long and wonderful chat with the agent, love it when they're excited about my trip! Will definitely keep looking at updates on this thread, great way to connect with people in the know :)

when I went to do online check in there was no where to put in specific buildings. only specific villages?

Looking at the instructions for the coffee maker, I'd think you could heat water in it by just not putting a coffee pod in and running the water through the cycle to heat it. I do that with my Keurig sometimes to make tea and it works fine.

Do you think it's likely if they're able to remain on their current pace that by Marathon Weekend (mid-January) they will be pretty much done with the refurbs in the non-preferred locations?

Hi there. We just returned from a week at CBR with Free Dining. We were a little hesitant on changing our reservation to CBR from POR as we had stayed there in the past and really enjoyed it. However, after experiencing CBR, I have to say we really enjoyed it, and would not hesitate to book again. We had a great location in Jamaica building 45 which was probably a huge reason why we had such a great stay. It was very close to both a bus stop and Old Port Royale as well as being recently refurbished (the queen beds are nice as well). We all really enjoyed the pool area with the two waterslides. The bus transportation was very good for our stay. We did not wait very long at all for busses either at the parks or the resort (except for DTD). We did book a bounce back offer, but are going to try Wilderness Lodge this time for a new experience. We will likely come back to moderate resorts (primarily due to price) and we will not hesitate to stay at CBR in the future and will certainly recommend it to friends as well. Feel free to ask questions, and I will do my best to answer.

Going to be staying there solo in November for a few days for a conference and then the Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon...is there a location I can possibly request that would be a little more ' adult' and less small kids (mine are grown now and I would prefer a quieter stay)....

We just got back last week. We had a new room in the Jamaica section. I had paid for a preferred room but was able to switch to a new room with queen beds at check in. It wasn't a problem at all. I just asked. They actually have me a credit because I was going from the preferred room to water view room. I got a new room and saved some money. I would love to post pics of our room but can't figure out how. The new rooms really are beautiful and worth asking for. Parts of Aruba are new and being used as well . Just ask at check in. Have a magical time!!! °o°

I am 17 days away from arrival at CBR, also paid for prefferred, considering Jamaica refurb...so far on the phone they tell me the resort is booked completely. But I will definitly chance asking upon check-in just in case...MY QUESTION IS HOW DID THEY REFUND YOU THE MONEY,WAS IT IMMEDIATE BACK ON YOUR CARD, OR DID THEY OFFER A GIFTCARD OF BALANCE? I was hoping if they do accomodate, maybe I can just use that difference right back in the parks during my stay...Thanks.
