The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Been there. Done that. At Taco Bell in Flagstaff, AZ in college. When I quick without giving notice to be a nanny, the manager told me to go get hit by a bus. :scared1::scared1:

What a nice guy -- I have no idea why you didn't want to stay on.

well he turns 2 on the 16th of april...he is almost 36 inches without shoes so he will be at least 36 when we go, i did the height thing and it does not show that goofys is on it, so i think he should be good.

It'll be interesting to hear how adventurous he is when you try him on some of these rides.

he is also big enough to ride the chair lift at blizzard beach, but not sure if he would like that.

I've never been to Blizzard Beach so I don't know about the chair lift, but I think I'd have nightmares of taking a little tyke on something where falling is a potential hazard.

most of the rides are at the 40 inch mark, so unless he has a 4 inch growth in 2 months he wont go on any of those, but i think the little man will have plenty to do while there.

Yeah, I think he's going to come up a little short of the 40 inch mark.

I thought you might like that one. I sat there thinking "how am I going to reply to this?" And when it came to me I thought it was very Huciferesque.

Well, perhaps in the lingo of Fast Food business that meant the same like that phrase of "break a leg" for actors. :confused3

I think it meant something more like, "Go break your neck!"

Somehow I don't think that's how he meant it.

Sounds like a joy to work with/for.

Hey glennbo, wanted to post something to your PTR so you don't feel jealous about me spending so much time commenting in Hucifer's. Hard to pry myself away though; she DOES have less hair on her back (unless that scarf thingy is hiding it all).

Your story about James and the Journey to Atlantis ride reminded me of Matthew. When he was 2-1/2 we took him to the MK for the day. Back then in Toon Town you went through Mickey's House, then watched a stage show with lots of Disney characters (Rescue Rangers, Scrooge McDuck and other popular Disney Channel characters of the day), and finally got to go in Mickey Mouse's dressing room after the show in small groups and get autographs and pictures.

We enter the show and sit on the front row, towards the right side of the stage, thinking Matthew will be thrilled sitting so close to the action where he can soak it all in. After all, he has done great standing in line and getting pictures with the characters all day so far.

There is a small sliding board right in front of us coming out of the scenery and at the perfect moment in the show, they release a CO2 cloud which allows Chip and Dale to slide down the slide and be standing there when the cloud lifts. Well, this very cool cloud of smoke starts to envelope us when Matthew climbs out of his seat, up my arm, and literally on top of my head as he begins to loudly say "I ready to go Daddy.....let's go....I ready to go!!!"

It took everything we had to get him down off of my head, and calmed down enough to get through the rest of the show. He was still very wary the rest of the time we sat there that another cloud was going to jump out and try to eat him at any time.

The good news is that we actually went back and saw the show again later, but he didn't want to sit up front again. We had to sit all the way in the back in the middle. Getting to meet Mickey himself in his very own dressing room helped ease the pain for the most part.

I think there might have been a plush toy sale out of that incident too.......

That's a great story Marvin. I can see you struggling to get your son off of your head.

Beware the cloud! :cloud9:

I have pictures of my kids on vacation that they're going to hate me for someday. Much worse than James and the shorts! :rotfl:

My DS was almost five the last time we went to Disney, and he wasn't interested in riding anything. Peter Pan was too dark (Winnie the Pooh was, too, but we made him ride it because he'd loved it the year before), freaked out during Philharmagic, and he told me that he might ride Big Thunder Mountain "when I'm your age, Mommy.". :sad2: When my daughter was that age, on our first trip, she wouldn't participate in any of the shows or kid-interactive-type things, and hated Philharmagic. Maybe it's the 4/5 year old thing to do....:confused3:confused3

Great Story!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Isn't it funny how your perspective of age changes as you get older. :rotfl2:

Yes, maybe it's a 4/5 year old thing. They're a little more aware of the "danger" the ride poses.

Hey Glenn - sorry I've been out of the loop for a while, but I'm back and catching up. Love the Sonic story. I've done that before. My car doesn't have an alarm, per say, but I accidentally hit the panic button on the key fob - that I didn't know it had. Yeah, a little embarrassing. Took me five minutes to figure out how to turn that thing off. I was in a Target parking lot. You know, nobody did come up and see if I needed any help. What if I really was panic-ing?

The pic of James and his shorts is adorable. We have so many pics of my brothers when they were little with their shorts like that. Its so funny - can't they feel that they're all twisted around?

We made the mistake of taking the girls on Splash Mountain a few years too early and got the same response from them. And, of course its been tough to get them on anything wilder than Goofy's Barnstormer ever since.:confused3

Happy Easter, Glennbo!! Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with family! He is Risen!

No problem Rebecca....glad you're back on a little bit and getting caught up!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to 1) have "issues" with the car-alarm I didn't know I had, and 2) took my kids on thrill rides a little prematurely. Thanks for sharing that!

And regarding the shorts...yeah, wouldn'tcha think it'd just plain feel weird?

Happy Easter, Glennbo!! Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with family! He is Risen!

Happy Easter Liesa! He is risen indeed! We've had a very nice day here.

So, any special traditions you did/had with the family??

So, any special traditions you did/had with the family??

We dyed eggs on Saturday and had a little egg hunt in the backyard yesterday afternoon. We always have a hard time finding the last one or two eggs. Even though we hid them we have trouble remembering where.

Other than that, it was a weekend of getting chores and projects done....first mowing of the season (at least it's better than shoveling snow), put up a new ceiling fan in our family room, worked a little in my woodshop, moved a pile of dirt after we had some septic work done, etc. etc.

Sounds wonderful! I'd trade grass mowing for snow shovelling ANYDAY!

Yeah, this year the older girls hid the eggs, and the parents, them AND the little kids ALL searched an extra 15 minutes for the last egg. :sad2:

when parker was hunting eggs at candis parents, i started to help him open his eggs, thought he was done, well he gets up and looks around and goes finds 3 more eggs, that none of us adults found.

little guy has the eye.

i need to mow also, but dont want to start it, have to change the oil in themower first and dreading that.

We didn't dye any eggs at our house. My little devils like theirs angel-ed so no need to dye them. (Wait, did I say that backwards...:) )

The plastic ones get used for the hiding. We don't have to worry about the smell later on if we can't find that last one or two. First mowing this weekend also, and string trimming the flower beds to get them ready for some new mulch. Actually found an easter egg from last year when we did that.......again, no smell to worry about. Started tilling the garden for planting also. Between all of that yardwork in the hot sun, and baseball practices, plus an early morning call in to work, I was pretty worn out by my weekend off.

Oh yes, and spring cleaning has begun in earnest. With school out for spring break this week, I'm glad I still have to go to work at least until Wednesday!!! :thumbsup2 Not sure I could survive any more time off... :lmao:

:rotfl2: Definitely, with the older girls hiding them you're going to be searching extra long. I tried not to hide them too difficultly this year and one of mine was still the last one to be found. It was a green one in the middle of the yard, not hidden behind anything. It just blended in.

That's funny. You'd better count how many you put out next year.

I was bad and didn't change the oil. Hopefully it'll be okay for a while.

Sounds like you had a very productive, but tiring weekend. Yes, it's good to get back to work so you can rest up after some time-off like that.

We hide both plastic eggs and hard-boiled. We like to live on the edge.

Now that our first (and potentially James’ last) ride was out of the way, we decided to take in a show, so we went to the seal show. I think the name of the show is the seal’s names, but I don’t remember. (edited to add: It was "Clyde and Seamore") One of the funniest moments actually occurred before the show. There was a mime down at the front, between the seats and the stage, and as people would enter he’d follow them and mimic them. I know it’s pretty juvenile humor, but it was hilarious. People would come in and take a few steps and shade their eyes to look for an empty seat and he’d be right behind them doing the same, and they had no idea. The show itself was great too. One “trick” the kids and I liked was that the trainer and one of the seals were standing on stage looking straight ahead. Then the trainer would look at the seal, who was still looking straight ahead. Then the trainer would turn his head back, straight ahead, and the seal would look at him. Then as soon as the trainer turned to catch the seal looking at him, the seal would turn his head straight ahead again. This went on for a little while and was pretty funny. Sometimes the kids and I would do it at the dinner table, after we got home from the trip. I liked to think that I played the part of the trainer and the kids were the seal, but it might have been the other way around.

Here’s my gang enjoying the show.

Apparently we went to the dolphin show next, because those are my next pictures.

100_0175.jpg

Then we went to the killer whale show. We walked in and sat down several rows up, in order to be out of the “splash zone”. Marlene wanted to sit close and get splashed, so I volunteered to accompany her. I figured it'd look good on my "Dad of the Year" application. I handed the camera off to Judy so it wouldn’t want it to get damaged, and Marlene and I went to sit where we could potentially get wet. Judy took the following photos and did a nice job. It was kind of tough with this camera because there was about a second delay from the time you pushed the button until it actually took the picture.

100_0177.jpg

100_0178.jpg

100_0179.jpg

At one point during the show they had a killer whale go around the edge of the pool and splash the first several rows. The whale went along and soaked the majority of the first several rows of the auditorium. I say “majority” because it skipped us. I was glad….Marlene was not.

100_0180.jpg

I remember that this next picture killed me because we were sitting just to the left of this little stage area where the whale plopped himself. If I had had the camera I could have taken a great shot. I could’ve probably filled the photo frame with the whale’s eyeball alone.

100_0183.jpg

Then we went to an aquarium that had a big tube going through it that you could walk through and it seemed like you were in among the sharks.

100_0189.jpg

100_0190.jpg

100_0191.jpg

After that we went through the clydesdale’s barn and the kids got their picture taken with the Budweiser donkey.

100_0193.jpg

Then we found the dolphin petting area. The kids really loved this.

100_0195.jpg

100_0199.jpg

100_0202.jpg

I think the only problem we had with the dolphins was that James couldn’t really reach out far enough to touch them. I think I ended up holding him out so he could reach. For those of you with kids, you know that we couldn’t leave until each kid had touched a dolphin.

I don’t remember where it fit in chronologically with the shows we saw, but the only other ride I remember us going on was Wild Arctic. Judy and James bypassed the motion-simulator helicopter ride and met us at the “arctic research station”, where we got to see some beluga whales and walruses. The rest of us took the “helicopter” ride (motion simulation) to the research station. I don’t usually have a problem with motion rides, but I remember thinking that that ride didn’t end any too soon.

After that we’d had our fill of the park and went and had dinner with DSiL and family at a Cheesecake Factory. Then we went back to the resort and I took the kids to the pool for a while before bedtime.
