The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Had you not posted that link to hucifer's installment you were referring to, I'd have been totally and completely (in case you needed some redundancy this morning) lost. Thanks! Our teammates struggled (still do) with infertility, and it was horrible, awful and excruciating to tell them we were pregnant with our 5th, 6 months after arriving on the field.

What a post!!! Thanks for sharing it. And since I'm not in WDW right now, I did cry. :goodvibes

Poor James! I totally feel for the little guy. My family used to take me to our local theme park (Canada's Wonderland) and they had a flume log ride similar to Splash Mountain as well. I hated it... but for some reason kept going on it? :confused3 Anyways, one time I went on and I was so scared going up the big hill that I actually climbed over the seats in front of me to sit with my sister. They had to stop the ride because of me

Amazing how kids change so much over such a short time frame.

We got up the next morning and headed to Sea World. We’d be meeting up with Judy’s sister (DSiL from my $5 TR), her son (DN from my $5 TR) and daughter (didn’t come with them when they visited us during the $5 TR

Glad you gave us another run down on the cast. I"m ready to roll!

so I guess I’ll call her DNiece, not to be confused with “Denise” who I don’t know because that’s not her name). We all found each other in the parking lot and made our way into the park.

That was guuuud. I'm not very punny like that- so it's always a big hit with this Peep.

I have a receipt that says we bought some child sunglasses at 9:05 am inside the park. I have no idea which kid we needed them for, but I'd guess James, who has trouble keeping track of his possessions and probably couldn't find his sunglasses when we were packing for the trip.

I think you'd have a receipt for a cup of coffee at 7-11 10 years ago. :rolleyes1

And what is it with kids and their stuff?? I swear i'm going to start carrying duct tape with me! Shades are spendy!

Our group, except me of course, taking the picture. DNiece, DSiL, Lauren, Marlene, James, Judy, and DN. Aren’t the kids cute, four years younger than in my $5 TR?! And look at James, with his shorts hiked-up like somebody’s grampa.

I can't believe how much they changed in between this, the $5 and the most recent ones I've seen- (ie. PWD)!

Some flamingos are escorted in front of us. Those are the girls up there near the flamingos. Their legs aren't much bigger than the birds'.

The Flamingo Escort Service. I like the sound of that. Heidi Fleiss would be proud.

I hadn’t prepared for touring Sea World like I would a Disney park

Obviously this important in the story...see below

We figured the girls could handle it, but weren’t really sure about James. We decided to give it a shot.

When in doubt, bail out.

James grabbed my arm with a death grip and started crying. At one point I thought he was going to try to climb out of the boat and I literally had to hold him in.

Red Alert! bwu-bwoooo, bwu- bwooo!!

And that right there, says it all.

don't feel bad, I did the same thing with Bek on Snow White at DLR 1,000 years ago. She lived.

Later in the trip we met up with one of Judy's PChef friends and found out that they were at Sea World on the same day and made the same mistake we did, taking their youngest child on Journey to Atlantis.

See, it's a common mistake. And look how far he's come! EE last trip!! :woohoo:

Umm....okaaayyyyy.
I see you got your revenge. How did that feel?

Today I read the "There's no crying in DisneyWorld" installment of your old TR. I'm not in DisneyWorld, so I guess I am allowed to well-up here. Wow, that was a tear-jerker. But it was so cool that you were able to correspond with the mother after you got back home. And, I'm kind of glad I'm coming into the story a little later on so that I don't have to wait to see the happy outcome that is in your signature.
Yep, you cheated and already know the outcome. ;)

It was wonderful to be able to contact Hannah's mom and tell her what happened...and to see more pictures of that adorable little girl again.

That's a riot, right?
Yes, James' shorts are pretty dang funny.

I think everyone in that whole section of the park was fixated on this screaming kid, so we didn't notice much of the ride. He's so skinny, I think he could have gotten out from the lap-bar if I hadn't held him in, so I was concentrating on making sure he didn't get out and really get hurt.
Need to say it again...poor James!

Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it. And yes...infertility is a painful, awful, heart-wrenching experience.

Oh poor James!

We did the same thing with Eric in '04 on TOT. He didn't trust us for the rest of the trip.

His shorts are a riot though.

I think that experience is why we had to resort to a plush toy to get him on EE.

In fact that's how I know he's a very smart kid.... I was all the opposite and never got a prize for riding scary rides at the local fair :rotfl:

I remember my mother trying to discouraging me every time, but I was (was or am?) very stubborn and always got my way :cool1:

Once, me and my older brother had a good scare in one ride, and we returned to our parents laughing hysterically and we couldn't stop for a long while... it was until she said we were leaving the fair we managed to get a hold of ourselves and stop laughing... and went to ride again  Oh kids!

that stinks about james on the ride, im hoping that parker is big enough for goofys barnstormer this year, and and can ride, and hoping that he likes it.

I was hoping she wouldn't mind me posting a link to it. :)

Yikes! That's what I was afraid James would do, only he was going to get out of the boat not climb to another seat. I was seriously afraid he was gonna make a run for it.

That was guuuud. I'm not very punny like that- so it's always a big hit with this Peep.

That's just what came to me when I was writing.

I think you'd have a receipt for a cup of coffee at 7-11 10 years ago. :rolleyes1

I can see I'm going to take a lot of heat for my receipts. Maybe I won't mention how I knew where we were and when. I just have a great memory.

And what is it with kids and their stuff?? I swear i'm going to start carrying duct tape with me! Shades are spendy!

Oooo duct tape'd be good.

I can't believe how much they changed in between this, the $5 and the most recent ones I've seen- (ie. PWD)!

The Flamingo Escort Service. I like the sound of that. Heidi Fleiss would be proud.

You're probably too late! :rotfl:

Obviously this important in the story...see below

Yes, I'm trying to line-up my excuse as to why I didn't know that it was too scary a ride for a 5 year-old. I can't admit I'm wrong. There, you made me say it.

When in doubt, bail out.

Except when the ride is in motion!

Red Alert! bwu-bwoooo, bwu- bwooo!!

I would say something, but I don't want to make fun of your speech impediment.

And that right there, says it all.

That was a little admission of guilt there too.

don't feel bad, I did the same thing with Bek on Snow White at DLR 1,000 years ago. She lived.

Yeah, we're not the first, and he's worked-up to some thrill rides now.

I see you got your revenge. How did that feel?

Probably not as good as the one I wanted to post, which was a little more suggestive. I thought better of it.

Yep, you cheated and already know the outcome. ;)

That's why I like movies better than books -- you don't have to wait as long.

It was wonderful to be able to contact Hannah's mom and tell her what happened...and to see more pictures of that adorable little girl again.

I'm sure it was very cathartic.

Yes, James' shorts are pretty dang funny.

I know! :rotfl2:

Need to say it again...poor James!

He's okay.....finally.

Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it. And yes...infertility is a painful, awful, heart-wrenching experience.

I'm sure a lot of people can identify with that post.

Oh poor James!

We did the same thing with Eric in '04 on TOT. He didn't trust us for the rest of the trip.

I'm glad we're not the only ones! And even the wise Cynthia made this mistake!

His shorts are a riot though.

I agree! :lmao:

I loved it!!

Me too.

He does work it. If only he could use that power for good.

Sounds like a fun time!

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of that. How old will Parker be during the trip? 2? I don't have any advice for how to work him up to it. As you just read, I threw a five-year-old smack into the terror of Journey to Atlantis. But I hope Parker likes Goofy's.

I'm glad we're not the only ones! And even the wise Cynthia made this mistake!

:rotfl:

I blame it on Jeff...the what doesn't kill you makes you stronger approach.

Never mind the fact that we could not, for the LIFE of us, get K&T on any kind of rollercoaster until 2008 (K) and T until 2009. He was 15! But no...we made Eric go on everything.

Wise Cynthia, I mean Jeff, didn't even let the poor kid off the hook for the rest of the trip unless he was too short.

Funny thing about it? He is the biggest thrill junkie of them all now.

Dinosaur scares him, that's about it. He was the only one who wanted to go on TOT last year. Go figure. Go Jeff.

:rotfl:

Huh. Good to hear that that approach works sometimes. Poor Eric!

Well it wasn't as bad as poor James, he never tried to climb out of anything or actually refused to go on..shell shocked is probably more accurate. There was some screaming on TOT and he was pretty dubious about BTMRR but got over it enough that he was mad Evan was tall enough for SM and he wasn't.

I was hoping she wouldn't mind me posting a link to it. :)

I think having written it in the first place- it was meant to be read. ;)

Yikes! That's what I was afraid James would do, only he was going to get out of the boat not climb to another seat. I was seriously afraid he was gonna make a run for it.

That would be a bad scene. Glad he didn't! I hate when they have to stop a ride for that kind of stuff.

That's just what came to me when I was writing.

Funny the odd things that pop into the thought process while writing!

I can see I'm going to take a lot of heat for my receipts. Maybe I won't mention how I knew where we were and when. I just have a great memory.

All is fair in love, war, and PTR!

You DO have a great memory by the way! ;)

Oooo duct tape'd be good.

Works for all kinds of wonderful fixes- from car repairs to keeping children in their high chair.

What's PWD?

Pinewood Derby

Yes, I'm trying to line-up my excuse as to why I didn't know that it was too scary a ride for a 5 year-old. I can't admit I'm wrong. There, you made me say it.

Wet, Dark, and Scary might have been your first clues.... :confused3:lmao:

Someone had to wrench it from you!

Except when the ride is in motion!

I would say something, but I don't want to make fun of your speech impediment.

apweorihawoghasdvopiwenf

That means "Wet, Dark, and Scary". i was the one making that announcement. Too bad you couldn't understand me.

That was a little admission of guilt there too.

I caught that. :rolleyes1

Probably not as good as the one I wanted to post, which was a little more suggestive. I thought better of it.

Did you still have the sunscreen non-smearing picture in your mind?

Sorry I got behind...

Ummm...who are those kids in the pix? They KIND OF look like the kids in your pix, but they look so small...WOW. they have grown in the last 4-5 years!!!!!

Poor James! This could have absolutely happened to me as a kid as well. I was only getting more adventurous on rides when my little sister did not mind going on the wildest roller coasters and I was too embarassed, to say that I did not dare to do what she wanted to go on... :rolleyes1

Sounds like he was quite the trooper!

I'm not BIG or brave enuff to ever ride Barnstormer again:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I forgot about that! :rotfl2: Yes, Goofy's is too much even for some adults. If Parker can handle it, he will leapfrog over Rosie in the thrill-ride department.

I think having written it in the first place- it was meant to be read. ;)

That's where I ended up in the "should I or shouldn't I" debate that was going on in my mind. (It must have been quite the intra-cranial tennis match.)

Funny the odd things that pop into the thought process while writing!

Yes, and some of them are even fit to print.

You DO have a great memory by the way! ;)

Thanks. I was just saying the other day....er, ah, what was it we were talking about?

Pinewood Derby

Oooooooh.

Wet, Dark, and Scary might have been your first clues.... :confused3:lmao:

Someone had to wrench it from you!

Okay, okay.

apweorihawoghasdvopiwenf

You could easily find work at a fast food drive-through. You're perfect for the job.

Did you still have the sunscreen non-smearing picture in your mind?

Something like that. Fortunately I hadn't seen that picture of the "clothing optional" section of Sci-Fi yet.

Sorry I got behind...

No problem! I know you've got your hands full just replying to posts on your thread.

Ummm...who are those kids in the pix? They KIND OF look like the kids in your pix, but they look so small...WOW. they have grown in the last 4-5 years!!!!!

They're growing too fast. I still see them as the kids in these pictures sometimes.

Tell me about it....I didn't dare to go on ToT until last year, when my oldest daughter was determined to go on. I couldn't let her show me up. It turned out to be waaaay less scary than what I had imagined.

You could easily find work at a fast food drive-through. You're perfect for the job.

Been there. Done that. At Taco Bell in Flagstaff, AZ in college. When I quick without giving notice to be a nanny, the manager told me to go get hit by a bus. :scared1::scared1:

Something like that. Fortunately I hadn't seen that picture of the "clothing optional" section of Sci-Fi yet.

I thought not...;)

well he turns 2 on the 16th of april...he is almost 36 inches without shoes so he will be at least 36 when we go, i did the height thing and it does not show that goofys is on it, so i think he should be good.

he is also big enough to ride the chair lift at blizzard beach, but not sure if he would like that.

most of the rides are at the 40 inch mark, so unless he has a 4 inch growth in 2 months he wont go on any of those, but i think the little man will have plenty to do while there.

I'm not BIG or brave enuff to ever ride Barnstormer again:rotfl2::rotfl2:

bad experiences?
