The early one is from 9:15am to 1:45pm. We are booked on the early time. I do not remember when the afternoon time is. I hope this helps.

Jet lagg having travelled a lot.

My suggestion:-

Nothnig not natural, no drugs etc,

Water, lots of it, no coffee/tea/ anything stronger.
Set your clocks watch's to the distination time as soon as you get on the plane.
Eat according to that.

If you want a sleep do it asap, not end of flight unless dark on arrival.
If you arrive in daylight, stay up do not go to bed until it goes dark.

Kids adjust the best, mine have been up 24 hours going to Vegas.

And mention it again Water, nothing else.

Andrew I totally agree.

Water , water water is a must. Also about staying up, its hard but worth it. Dont know if its just us, but the worst day for Dave and myself is the 2nd day after weve landed. We tend to feel groggy. After that we are fine.

True,

Can I ask ALL on this thread,

Has any other cruise other than the July 28th 11 night booked the private area of Palo's for a Dis-meet and if so your response from DCL?

Thanks

So the basics are....turn your clock ahead to the future time zone and follow in line with that... then don't go to bed until it's bedtime. No naps right? Lots of water and no cafeinne on the flight or all day?

For our flight...we leave at 4:30pm our time which is 1:30am spain time. So we should try to go right to sleep? Or just push through and stay awake 24 hours. We don't land in spain until 5:30pm so it's pretty close to bed time anyways.

What do you seasoned travellers recommend? Adding in my 9 year old to the mix.

Opinons please...
Steph

Andrew - there is a group on our cruise who are trying to book the private room and they basically got the same information you did. They would find out about 30 days out. That was the same response we got when it was booked for the 10 day Christmas cruise. I think DCL tends to hold Palo just in case they get a VIP cruising at the last minute that might want to use it. Christy Carlson Ramono(sp?) and her family were on the Christmas cruise and they ate in the private dinning room every evening. We did get it for brunch one day so that was nice.

Going back will be the more easy one for you, if I go to the USA its always better, I stay up do not sleep, rest in the chair or walk about and stay up to the time it gets dark in USA.

Coming to us you loose between 5/8 hours to the UK, more for Europe.

So and the airlines do not help on this as they serve meals etc late, but

Try to get ahead a little, foodwise, my kids are better with a small meal at airport whilst waiting rather , a wait for it ot be served on the plane.

I say small as you do not wish to have misshaps. This also happens if you stay awake on the plane eat and then fall aslepp the food lies on your stomach, kids are worse.

So small food before flight, try to get to sleep as soon as possible set your watch to Europe time, and try to get a seat in a quite area, not near Restrooms etc.

Sleeping on a plane is difficult, if you can on this leg have premium economy or business class its so worth it, I slept well on a night flight before and was so good the next day.

Small food, they offer you a lot but do not have it, fruit water, not sodas, the pressure of the plane doesnt help, if you know what I mean.

Booze just causes so many problems.

Close windows if its light and try to sleep.

When you get to Europe try your best to go with the daylight, so if you arrive and its day, try not to sleep during the day, you will stay in USA time.

Then you will not sleep that night and be bad the next day.

If you arrive very very early, and know you really will not last the whole day, have a shower and a power nap for a couple of hours and get out in the sunshine all afternoon, worn out you will sleep that night.

Kids adjust well.

Thank you. It does - will try for the early (and maybe a spa treatment in the afternoon before dinner).

Thank you I thought that was the case, hope I do not have any VIP's on ours, apart form our 'team' of Dissers.

Thats what I would do, say on yours 4.30pm is early so hard to sleep but try to get everyone to set watch to Spainish time and try to get sleep a few hours later, hit the Caffine in Spain if you have to, but try to work on their time asap.

I'm a flight attendant an we are always changing time zone .It plays havoc with our inner clock. Just avoid alcohol and drink lots of fluids peferable water and juice.Take catnaps they help a lot.
When you get to Barcelona just stay on Barcelona time and go to sleep when you normally do. Get up at you normal time. This should help you adjust. It does for me. I change time zones from 3hrs back to sometimes 10 hrs forward. An don't sleeping pills they just make you feel out of wack the whole day.

Has anyone been able to book the Chocolate Museum in Barcelona on Embarkation day ? I see where you meet at 1:30, is that after you've checked in and given them your luggage ? So when you get back you just board the ship like you were in any other port ?:confused3

Are you a first time cruiser, or can you book at the 90 day mark? If you can book at 90 day mark you stand a good chance of getting it. I'll cross my fingers for you!

If you cant get booked onthe excursion you could go yourself.

Its open 10am - 7 and the cost of a single ticket is 3.90 Euros.

You can also contact them directly to see if they'll add you to the workshops.
