What do you guys think of french manicures?

(Hope I don't offend...) I hate them. I think they're so passe', so predictable, so blahhhhhh!

I often will be eyeballing women's hands while we're on a bus at WDW and see nothing but french. French, french, french. It's like an unwritten rule that you go get a french before WDW.

I hate acrylics too. My nails are short, not even to the tips of my fingers....BUT when I got to WDW I get acrylics -SHORT- tip-o-nail short...and they're not allowed to dremmel them, cuz I need them to soak off easy when I get back. I only do it so they don't chip.

This year, I think I'll be using OPI's My Private Jet...fingers and toes.

Long post just to ask about french manicures....lol

I have french. I'm not offended. I do them because they match everything and I don't have to think about it. I save color for my toes. I have paper thin nails that are also very moist. My mom and my Nana have/had great nails, probably like Hedy. But I broke the family trend in that area. Mine are some of the worst I have ever seen. So I get them done every two weeks and I do french 90% of the time. When I do color I have him cut them way shorter and it is usually fall and Christmas time.

Oh and BTW my kids think they're so cool because they glow in the dark on Peter Pan and Splash Mountain!!!

Girls who are counting stuff: I have 18 lip glosses.

I have 18 lipglosses too! puckerup: Including the Stila pearl shimmer gloss in "ocean currant" that I got today at Sephora.

I also have two Nivea tinted lip balms, two Hwaiian tropic spf45 lip balms, a chapstick, and an Aveeno lip balm. Oh and one lipstick.

Is anyone else hopelessly bad at nail art? I picked up the brush thing polish at Sally's, and tried it to do these tiger stripes I saw on youtube...it looked like HotTopic vomited in a Tiffany's box (my base was China Glaze "For Audrey").

:lmao: Kudos to you though for trying. I just do one plain color at a time.

(I know you know, cuz you sit and do it, too! :lmao: Watching "Friends" or "Nancy Grace" doing my nails while everyone else gets to konk out!)

I think I've found my long lost twin. I love Nancy Grace! :lmao:

To stay on topic, I went to Macy's the other day and was going to the different make up counters. I found a foundation that I really love- DiorSkin Nude. It is really light and looks sooo pretty on! The sales lady gave me a huge sample that I've been using. I wanted to buy alot of stuff, but they are pricey. I wonder if I could find anything for a discount online? I've been using Bare Minerals for quite a while but my skin is alittle on the dry side, so I think a liquid foundation would be good for me.

This was also really pretty too!: http://beauty.dior.com/usa/en/base....skin-poudre-shimmer-ultra-shimmering-004.html

OT dH and I are going to be in extras in a movie tomorrow. The Fighter with christain Bale and Mark Whalberg. We are part of the crowd scene but it will be fun ....one of the 1oo things to do before you die. They are making slew of movies in Mass lately. Right now under production are 6 different movies and two were just up the street from me and I did not know it. A casting director wanted my son for a paid extra part but he would not do it>>>jeesh I would have paid them.

Man - I forgot to count. I'll do it tomorrow. Xena (Dec5) can attest to the fact I have the memory of a gnat. I'd forget my head,if it wasn't attached.

I like Nancy! :thumbsup2

Fun!!! :dance3:

I came here to admit to spending money tonight. It started innocently enough. 2 sundresses, 4 t-shirts (2 for each of my boys)

I almost left the mall, but said 'Why not stop in Marshalls?' (yeah, sure - why not )

$85 later - I own Escada Sunset Heat perfume, Incanto Charms perfume (don't get just one, Cat...get both! ) 2 candles, a linen spray and a doggie toy shaped like a ladybug.

:upsidedow

Fun! My mom was an extra in a TV show once. The funny thing was it happened to air while we were in WDW together so we had to go back to the room to watch it. She's like "There goes the back of my head." "There goes my feet walking up there."

They do glow. That is one fun aspect. :)

Yeah, Cat has no memory. But I don't either most of the time so it's all even!

Noel has a ladybug toy too! It isn't her favorite though. Her fav is a fuzzy purple dog called Loofah!!!

I have....over 100 shadows I stopped counted at 100 HOPEFULLY this little exercise will make me more aware of what I have and cause me to stop buying make up. I will also admit that some of them are in multi sets one of which was a set with 40 colors. This does not include the Mac Pigments or Paints.

OH, BTW the Strivectin Neck Cream(Turkey Neck) works really well. I know someone asked earlier in this thread for a good neck cream. I do not really have Turkey neck but I do have the beginning of some lines and it seems to me they are gone!!!

So I got the BM skin care set. It was 4 products for about $65 on Sephora.com. I was looking for something new so I tried it. I have had it a couple of days, but already a few things come to mind.

The cleanser is a powder. At first I thought I was hate it, but now I like the way it feels. The only thing is I can't leave that bottle in the shower, so I still need an additional cleanser for in there.

The moisturizer doesn't have an SPF, which I really like because then I don't have to think about that for my face. Also I always use my skin care down my neck and chest every morning so I have SPF there too if it's in the moisturizer. Bummer on that. I miss the SPF already.

It came with a spritzer stuff. Not even sure if I will ever remember to use that. And also a powder SPF 30 that is just kind of weird for me.

Anyway, if you haven't used it, there are some of my thoughts.

Any reviews on Laura Geller Spackle?

I just bought one as well as her eye primer. Can't wait to try it!

OMG you guys!! LOL! I'm embarrassed!!!!!

Shadows (and I counted how I think we were supposed to, if it was a quad, it was 4, right??) - 91

Lipstick - 16

Lipgloss - 42

Blush - 14
(this is including bronzers and highlighters)

I did not do my pigments or my polish. I was too disturbed.

WTH am I going to do with 91 shadows and 42 lipglosses??? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

AND - and and and - what is super sick, I just went 'through' my makeup in the spring. Getting rid of anything old, or no longer 'needed' (yeah, but 42 liglosses were still needed)

I just recently (remembering me raving about the Lip Fusion glosses?) a total of 6 of those. 6 at $25 a piece. **faint**

And - the last disgusting part of this all, is I'm a makeup snob. My 91 eye shadows aren't Wet & Wild - at a $1 a pieve (which is still awful!!!)

I think I need to re-evaluate life now. :upsidedow

OH THANK GOD!!!

I'm not so bad. :rolleyes1

Man. We should live closer. ;)

You all are cracking me up with counting your makeup. :lmao: And here I was starting to feel bad that I have about 10 eye shadows from Everyday Minerals, 5 or 6 lip glosses and 3 MAC Fluidline eye liners. Well, actually I'm not feeling bad about having only that many, what I was feeling bad about was wanting to buy more and different kinds/brands to try. :rolleyes1 I can see I have a long way to go before I need to worry to much.

But, just think of how much we are helping the economy when we buy makeup. If we didn't buy it, stores like Sephora and Ulta might not survive. ;)

You do know that Sephora is having a weekly special on Lip Fusion? I saw it at the bottom of one of my emails. Buy one get one 50% off. :rolleyes1

OK, I have 7 blush/highlighter/bronzer type things  4 NARS blushes (at $25 a pop) 2 Smashbox Softlights (at $30 a pop) and a FREE mini Smashbox bronzer in "Dusk" that I got with a Softlights purchase.

Ummm, hi. :o This is a little embarrasing since I've only been wearing makeup other than my clinique foundation and blush since March, but (now mind you many of these are samples from various indie mineral makeup companies) I have 389 eyeshadows, 20 full size blushes and loads of samples, 45 full size lip products (glosses, some MAC lipglasses and other lippies), several face powders and only 8 nail polishes. And, um, I keep a spreadsheet of my eye colors sorted by color family. :snooty:

I do NOT even want to think of what I've spent over the past 4 months! LOL And I still have more on the way as I'm discovering new companies everyday. there are some really great ones on Etsy that have awesome vibrant shadows!!

Nobody tell my DH!!

YES!!! See what I mean...this was a good exercise for us. We truly are addicts. BTW you did count correctly. OMG I only have two eyes( which BTW again I think somehow have conjunctivitis...they were gunky TMI when I woke up today or could be from late nite at the movie shoot lol) Now I need to find what I used yesterday and dump it. I too am a make up snob but I will say 5 of my eye shadows were ULTA which I just got into. I did not count blush and I did not seperate lipstick and lipgloss but still!!!! Do you think we will think twice next time when we are out and see make up we like? .........I think if it is within maybe the next two weeks but then what if they Mac warehouse sale were right down the street from you ....could you resist? What if Beauty Crunch has a huge sale with free shipping? What if Sephora has a 25% off sale...could you resisist??? I do not know if I can. I meed to join MUAA. Could be worse at least make up is not a controlled substance.:rotfl::rotfl:

See that is how it starts....first you have a few....then you want to experiment and you get a few more and before you know it you are a full fledged hard core ADDICT!! I get a rush when I walk in Sephora it is all the colors....I love color. Then the make up videos on You Tube don't help either!
When I am there I rarely look at the price of the items and yet if it came to a choice between eating and make up for me I would forego lunch and buy an eyeshadow.

LOL I was thinking my DH never goes on here so hopefully I am safe.

OMG you are hardcore! We have corrupted you! Samples? That is how they lure you in.
"C'mon kid try this you are going to love it! It is the same make up Angelina uses and look she had Brad. Nothin' bad about that is there? NAAH it's GOOD for your skin"

Before you know it you will be buying Mac in a dark alley from some broad named Mitzi or hanging around a Maggiano's after a Mac professional development (probably only CR will get that part) just to get their leftovers.

You will get a job in Sephora and then the resident make up artist will make you up each day to look like Dame Edna or Tammy Faye (that is what the MUA does in the Sephora near me) and you will not care just as long as you get your daily make up fix. Your family will stage an intervention with make up remover and cotton balls and then have you use the cheap stuff like NYX to try and let you down slowly. YOu will think you kicked the habit but in the end you will innocently walk by an ULTA ,the door will be open and the smell of the eyeshadow will pull you in again. YOu will need more, more, more to get the "pigment high".
Finally, we might see you holding a sign on the street corner "Will work for make up! " All from that innocent little sample you got.
