HI!
Just wanted to give my two cents worth on here!! I am a former make-up artist/Esthetician and MASCARA is a BIG deal for me. I buy a couple of brands at a time just to test them out.

The BEST mascara that I have discovered is BUXOM MASCARA. It is a Bare Essential's brand BUT it is a SEPHORA exclusive and ONLY sold in SEPHORA stores NOT the Bare Essential stores, which is a pain in the rear b/c here where I live there is only 2 Sephora stores and they are really not THAT close to my home....but is is WELL worth the drive!!! It makes your lashes full AND long....not too many do both AND this stufff makes my lashes look AWESOME.....BIG, LONG, and BEAUTIFUL!!! A MUST TRY for all you ladies who LOVE lashes!!!

I might try this. But maybe after I use up the FIVE mascaras I have at the moment. I wonder if it smudges at all? That's a big no-no for me. All of us at work are supposed to get a sample of Latisse to try. I cannot wait! Then we are to wear buttons that say "Ask me about my lashes." I'm so excited. :cheer2:

Thank you for your help!

I will look into the MAC Fluidline as well. Sigh... another brush/powder deal, LOL. Wonder how it compares in price though with the 3/$12. Think I'm just going to go the cheapest right now since I'm not really sure a brush/powder will be my thing. I do remember ordering a powder eyeliner from Bare Escentuals a while back... and it's still sitting under my bathroom sink. Tried it a couple times and gave up.

Sooo.... nobody's had any success with those individual lashes? I don't think they'll look too movie-starish. They don't even sit on your lid. They attach right to your existing lashes.

I'm serious when I say I have little lashes. I've tried SO many mascaras. They don't extend, they seem to just build on what you have... and I don't have...

Welcome threeboysmom! This is a very expensive thread. If it were on the budget board, we'd all get points. I think it's a good idea to invest in some brushes. Way back was good advice on taking care of them.

OK, since I brought up brushes I'm going to count mine. This could take a while. Be right back.

TWENTY-NINE brushes and an eyelash curler! Oh, and I found a sixth mascara while I was looking for brushes. But it was old and I threw it out.

I have done false lashes. It looks really nice. I've only done it for evening and special occasions. It is a little time consuming and Too Faced Lash Injection seems to work really well, so I haven't done it for a while. But I would put on about four or five little clumps of lashes, starting on the outside of my eye and work inward, just sort of filling in where my lashes were sparse. I stopped around halfway mark of my eye.

I'd also put one clump on the very outside of my right eye, then put one clump on the very outside of my left eye, alternating while working inward. That way, if I was halfway done and had to stop and run out the door (usually because it was taking a while and I was running late), I didn't have one eye all dolled up and the other one with little skimpy lashes.

Sometimes, I could stick em on there in no time at all. Other times I couldn't get them to stick on. I used tweezers to pick them up and dip them in the glue and place them on. It took patience and practice, but you can get it and the results are really nice!

The Fluidline isn't a powder like the BE stuff. The best way to describe it, is that it is like the inside of a pencil, just in a pot instead. It is very thick and not runny at all. You can buy it at any MAC counter for $15 each. (I know Beautycrunch has the Stila Smudgepots for 3/$12, but you will have shipping on top of the price, so keep that in mind and they are often out of stock.)

Regardless of what brand you try, make sure you get a good eyeliner brush (I like the BE one like this). Just dip the edge into the pot/makeup and draw your line just like if you were using a pencil. I like to just dip the very corner and draw a little bit of the line at a time. That way I feel I have more control over how thick and how heavy I make the like.

BTW, I've also tried the BE eyeliner and didn't really care for it. I got the Wearever stuff to use also, but never could get a formula of how thick/thin to mix the two together. I often would have it flake off and then I would have no liner on at all.

Next time I'll curl mine, then apply the falsies, then mascara.
You apply mascara TOO??? Drat, was hoping to avoid mascara, lol...

Also, about lining with a "powder". I wet my brush, dry it just a bit so it's not soaking, then dab into the powder, wipe off the excess and kind of dot, dash my way across my upper lashline - really close to the lashes. I now prefer that because it really broadens my color options (I use all loose mineral type shadows).

OK, you make that sound soooooooo easy.

I was toying with getting an Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Lust... if I decide to stick with pencils...

So many decisions! :goodvibes

You're not kidding!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I really have to watch myself here. DH took a new job with a 40% pay reduction... :rolleyes1

Brushes... I can't even FATHOM why you have 29 brushes! I can count mine without even running upstairs...

1 Foundation Kabuki Brush
1 Eyeshadow Brush
1 Eyebrow Brush
1 Concealer Brush
3 Mini-Kabuki Brushes (came with samples I ordered)

Total of 7. All from BE. I am so not going to listen to anything you all have to say about buying MORE brushes! Lalalala! Not listening!

After I figure out eyes, gosh I hate my eyes, then I'll move onto a nice lip gloss/plumper... Sigh....

We're counting brushes too? I'll have to count and come back. Maybe Ill do my polish while I'm gone too. What an exciting Saturday night! :lmao:

That's the kind of brush you use? I use one like this:

I put some on the brush, onto the back of my hand, smoosh it around, and apply.

I'm actually surprised you're able to get it on with a brush that long. Interesting. I'll have to try it. I have 2 brushes like that - but one I use for eyebrows and the other I used to apply shadow over a liner, for smokiness.

OMG! LOL!

I read *29* and thought "gee, she has a lot.... I don't have that many"

I have 29 as well. We're brush sisters.

I didn't include that itty bitty Stila set of 3 Travel Ones I got of Beauty Crunch. I figured those didn't count.

You know, now that I sit here... I have 2 more I havent opened yet, from Everyday Minerals, put away. :sad2:

We're not sisters anymore. :guilty: :sad1:

Alright - this whole thing is sick. :headache::rotfl:

When I decided to try the BE eyeliner, I had to buy a brush and they were out of the one you have and talked me into the bigger one. I thought there is no way that is going to work. How am I going to use that big thing? :confused3 Well, I'm so used to using it now, I don't know if I could use the one like your's. Pretty much, I only dip the corner into the eyeliner, the heavier I want the line the more I put on and then use it like a pencil. The bigger edge, when using the corner, makes it stiff and not very flexible.

Yeah, I use a brush like goofy too. This one, but I would like one that is maybe half as wide so I can get into the inside corner. Other than that, I like it.

As for the mascara with the falsies. I think that for me it is necessary as my natural lashes are not as dark as the fake ones. I also line after putting them on to help it blend a little (well, I did the one time I tried them, last night :rotfl:).

And don't open the hot oven to take your cookies out after putting them on or you'll end up looking like someone wearing a phony mustache that starts to come off. I had to remove and reapply one set for that reason! :lmao:

Did I tell you guys they discontinued OPI(ate) My Private Jet?

Jerks.

BUT - I was looking online and found more people actually like this one, better:

Doesn't that look like the floor at Innoventions?? :thumbsup2

But where do you get Color Club brand??? I ended up ordering one online, but have any of you seen it?

Ooh, CathrynRose!! Did you get the Everyday Minerals retractable Kabuki yet?? It is awesome! So great for travel- I keep mine in my purse along with my Puff jar full of foundation.

I LOVE all the EM brushes- I'll have to go count and post my total number...

Oh, I really like that color. Not that I normally like black nail polish, but that really isn't black because of the sparkle to it. So, were do you get Color Club nail polish? :rolleyes1

I've been using Latisse since May...LOVE...LOVE...LOVE IT!! My lashes are soooo long and full...but I still need mascara for the black color b/c my lashes are light brown naturally.

Ha ha! CR has more brushes than I do!

Why do I have so many brushes? Because I am crazy.

(1) I started out buying a set from Too Faced. I would love some and not others. So I couldn't return the whole set, but I'd find others that I like better. I got invited to a Mary Kay party and didn't like any make-up, but I needed a contour brush, which only came in the set. I use one or two of those brushes, but I don't really care for the set. BUT...I can't return that cause I gave the plastic lash comb to a friend (I had a metal comb from Sephora that is way better than plastic). The case is really nice though and I used it for my WDW trip.

(2) I do silly stuff like buy a Lancome skunk brush because it was cheaper than a MAC 187 but I'm not happy it so I bought 187 a few months later. I still use the Lancome skunk for certain powders so I don't return that either.

(3) I have three cheap foundation brushes from Eco tools (I found one of them for $1) because I am use it and wash it every day and want to give it a chance to dry. I don't want to invest a lot of $$$ in that brush because it is washed so much that I'm afraid it will get musty. So I make up for that by having three.

(4) I'll pick up interesting looking brushes that I think are cool. My favorite eye shadow brush that I use every day (despite have many eye shadow brushes from different sets) is a NARS #16 that I picked up at a Sephora F&F sale.

So the brushes just kind of add up. Moral of the story? Don't buy brushes in sets. :teacher:
