It is official. During the campaign, President Elect Obama made some comments about what a bad justice Clarence Thomas has turned out to be and so in spite, Thomas put one case on the SCOTUS docket for consideration that was voted on Friday, December 5. The SCOTUS did not grant cert last Friday on this Obama birth certificate case and so there was a remote chance that somehow the SCOTUS may do something today. Today the official cert denied list is out and at least one of these cases is dead. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/08/obama-birth-certificate-c_n_149229.html This means that the Electoral College will meat in December 15 and President Elect Obama will become Presdient Obama.

These cases were really stupid in that the state of Hawaii (with a republican governor) has vouched for the birth certificate filed by the Obama campaign.

It should be a best seller don't you think? Won't testify to a grand jury while sitting himself on Fox everyday, but he has no problems writing a book.... nice....

Frightening that any ONE person would buy his book. :scared:

Democratic officials: Obama has chosen retired Gen. Eric K. Shinseki to be VA secretary

Staff--AP News

Dec 06, 2008 17:37 EST

Democratic officials say President-elect Barack Obama has selected retired Gen. Eric K. Shinseki to be the next Veterans Affairs secretary.

The officials said Obama will announce his selection Sunday. They spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting the official announcement.

Shinseki is the former Army chief of staff who upset his civilian bosses in 2003 when he testified to Congress that it might take several hundred thousand U.S. troops to control Iraq after the U.S. invasion. He was forced out of his job within months for being "wildly off the mark." But his words proved prophetic after President George W. Bush in early 2007 announced a "surge" of additional troops to Iraq after miscalculating.

Thomas is such a tool. It's no secret that his own colleagues dislike him.

Good morning arugulaphiles! :flower3:

I'll wait for Jen's official countdown, but I think we're close to 40 days out from Jan. 20! :goodvibes I have decided against braving the inauguration. :guilty: I have some anxiety issues that would likely be tested by standing in freezing temperatures with millions of people. So I'm opting to attend an inauguration party, where I can watch the festivities on a big-screen TV whilst enjoying a tasty beverage.

We decorate with reckless abandon. I have a g-rated fetish for twinkle lights, I can't help myself. Plus, we're heading to Disney in a few days (THURSDAY!!) and I think a festively adorned house waiting for us when we return will help ease the post-Disney depression.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. princess:

I don't think I would brave DC that week at all.

I'm so looking forward to Disney--I can't wait! Have you seen the weather? I hope that rain forecast goes away!

Okay, I just looked at the Orlando forecast--only a 10 percent chance of rain on the day I was worried about it, down from 60%.

Morning libs!

My power went down last night and we didn't get power back until 5:00 this morning. I froze my little tush off all night long.

And in more important news:

43 days!!!!

It was a conspiracy. Rest assured, there were republicans involved. They may be stealing your arugula right now.

I am super excited about Disney. I have already checked out of work mentally, which sucks because I still have tomorrow and Wednesday to get through. :scared:

I've been too scared to check the forecast. :scared: We have tickets for MVMCP Thursday, I will be shaking my fist at the skies and cursing loudly if it rains. :sad2:

No "Holiday" decorating in our Jewish/Atheist household. I get my fill of it (and endless Christmas Carols) on our annual NYE trip that is coming up. I have to say from personal experience that the only Christmas song that seems to hold up to being heard on an the same endless Christmas song loop in every single park is "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson and I think it's because of the clipity clop of the horse's hooves and their musical whinny is so cute!

As some of you know, my DH is Jewish so we do light the menorah this time of year. Hanukkah starts on the 3rd night we're at WDW and instead of bringing a big old menorah and candles I found a "window cling" menorah made GelGems. It will go on our window at ASMovies (to combat all the Christmas decorations) and then on our mirror when we move to Tampa to visit family.

Good idea.

Of course, now we know how to find you. Bwaaa haaaaa haaaaaa.

If this isn't a kick in the head to Bush Co., I don't know what is. Imagine having the one guy who knew what he was talking about with Iraq, got fired for it, and now will be running the VA.

Oh how sweet it is. :woohoo:

I actually think it's kinda ironic. If Bush had listened to him then maybe there wouldn't be as many injured vets to take care of properly.

Well, it could be better. He could have been running the Defense Dept. That would get their knickers all twisted.
Speaking of twisted, notice how the FTs close threads then blame us for being hateful? Ha. HaHa.

Did you notice that too? What a shame.

Differing opinions are always hateful.

I think it's a rule or somethin'. ;)

:wave2: Hola libs. What's shaking?

I'll tell you what I learned at school...and this is apparently a sign of respect...

'Sup foo?

:confused3

Apparently...that's the new "How are you doing on this fine day, ma'am?"
