THE LIBERAL THREAD #3- No Debate Please

Good evening, fellow libs. THought I'd share that I was reprimanded for the first time today--twice actually, for the same thread--for "minor personal attacks." I've been on the board for NINE years (actually, before then, since it was before this "disBoard" opened). This is my first "infraction." One was really very minor, commenting on negative assertion in someone's signature, something I've always found offensive. The second was against a poster who is so full of Anti-Obama venom that she needs no introduction....

I can't decide if I'm ashamed of myself or proud that I finally said what I thought to two arch neo-cons who post often. Hmmmm.

Ashamed wins but only by a bit.

Just sharing.

Knew only you all would understand. I'm going back into nice mode....

Right on, with your bad self. Don't feel guilty.

Well, you have me beat. I don't forage. My idea of foraging is heading to Wal-mart on a Saturday afternoon with the masses. O' course...when you only have Wal-mart, you have to suffer in silence.

There are times I'm more vocal about my dislike for the devil. (aka: Wal-mart)

I usually sob when I turn my cart up and down the aisles.

You sob? That's nothing. I usually bring gasoline and light myself on fire.

Confession: I had my oil changed at Walmart recently.

For penance, I forced myself to use their bathrooms.

I would not feel bad...I have had infractions before, you move on. Sometimes things are interpreted differently, and the problem with posting is you often have to guess intent. Its a debate board, or at least partly so, and things like that happen

I was in St Patricks today also! I am surprised the church stayed standing with at least two heathens there today...;)

As for the infraction? :ssst:

I spent the day decorating my house for the holidays.
We're delaying. We decided to spend this holiday season playing a slide puzzle (one of THESE) with our home.

We used to work at home, in the loft, and so we had two desks there dominating the room, one was oppressively huge for a home. We moved the small one into the corner of the guest room and spent the weekend deconstructing the huge one. (Still in pain -- every little piece of the desk was heavy. It was made out of this insanely heavy particle board, and we had to drag it down the stairs to get it out.)

Next weekend, we're going to move practically the entire living room (television, console, and 3 recliners) into the loft.

Of course, my wife points out, that leaves us with an empty living room. So the weekend after we're getting delivery of a nice living room set. (We're trying to craft a conversation pit, for church get-togethers and such, so the living room set is relatively inexpensive looking, but very comfortable for sitting and talking with each other. All told, we'll probably be able to seat 7.)

THEN, we'll be able to think about putting up the three. :)

I can't get myself in gear for Christmas decorating either. I've put up and taken down the outside decoration twice already. I make my final stand this week. It's it or me. :scared:

If it wasn't for DH, I wouldn't decorate. The whole time I'm putting the stuff up I'm thinking about when I have to take it down.

Good morning arugulaphiles! :flower3:

I'll wait for Jen's official countdown, but I think we're close to 40 days out from Jan. 20! :goodvibes I have decided against braving the inauguration. :guilty: I have some anxiety issues that would likely be tested by standing in freezing temperatures with millions of people. So I'm opting to attend an inauguration party, where I can watch the festivities on a big-screen TV whilst enjoying a tasty beverage.

We decorate with reckless abandon. I have a g-rated fetish for twinkle lights, I can't help myself. Plus, we're heading to Disney in a few days (THURSDAY!!) and I think a festively adorned house waiting for us when we return will help ease the post-Disney depression.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. princess:

You and I have been around the DIS for about the same time. I think we both have the "August, 1999" join date because that's the last time Pete had major problems with the server and everyone's account was "reset". I too received my very first points earlier this year ... and it wasn't even for a political thread . And from my favorite Mod too :guilty:. This too will pass ... but I have to admit that the infractions bar at the bottom on my UserCP is mighty annoying ... even after the points go away!

I know what a lot of the rest of you are thinking ... Slackers! :rolleyes1

Personally, I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate putting up decorations (any kind (gotta be secular on this thread yanno)). I like looking at them though.

Oh No. Rove is going to write a book (he has a lot of legal fees to pay) and will name names of people who did not consider bush to be the legitimate president of the United States. http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/nation/12/07/1207bushinside.html
Also reserved for between the covers of Rove's book is his checklist of the "great many of the political actors in this town (who) never accepted him as a legitimate president."

"I've got behind-the-scenes episodes that are going to show how unreceiving they were of this man as president of the United States," Rove said, adding: "I'm going to name names and show examples."
Just remember that rove will not be able to claim executive privilege after January 20 and the new DOJ is going to make Rove testify at some point. Rove is going to have even more legal bills to pay after 1-20-09 and needs this book to be a best seller.

No "Holiday" decorating in our Jewish/Atheist household. I get my fill of it (and endless Christmas Carols) on our annual NYE trip that is coming up. I have to say from personal experience that the only Christmas song that seems to hold up to being heard on an the same endless Christmas song loop in every single park is "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson and I think it's because of the clipity clop of the horse's hooves and their musical whinny is so cute!

As some of you know, my DH is Jewish so we do light the menorah this time of year. Hanukkah starts on the 3rd night we're at WDW and instead of bringing a big old menorah and candles I found a "window cling" menorah made GelGems. It will go on our window at ASMovies (to combat all the Christmas decorations) and then on our mirror when we move to Tampa to visit family.

I knocked out all holiday decorating yesterday, just like tearing off a band-aid. Funny, I always forget how queezy I get up on a ladder until I'm hanging on one, 20' up, in front of our house putting 22" Xmas wreaths on every one of our second story windows. I'm just glad it's over...that is, until it all has to come down...

It should be a best seller don't you think? Won't testify to a grand jury while sitting himself on Fox everyday, but he has no problems writing a book.... nice....

We finally put our tree up last night. Usually we decorate over Thanksgiving weekend, but got behind this year. Everyone is gung ho to decorate, but then they all disappear when it's time to take everything down.

We have some friends who really and truly leave their tree up every year until sometime in March when it can't stay inside another day due to it being a fire hazard! I was shocked the first year I knew them and went to their house in early March and saw the Christmas tree and holiday decorations still up!

Morning libs!

My power went down last night and we didn't get power back until 5:00 this morning. I froze my little tush off all night long.

And in more important news:

43 days!!!!
