The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Heck yeah! What's the list of ingredients for a "Pear Bacon Crip"? I'm almost afraid to ask! :scared: :lmao:

Well this is so weird, it says page 666 (no I'm not kidding!) and I go to page 666 and it has the recipe for Sherried Pears. I can't find the Pear Bacon Crisp anywhere!:rotfl2: Perhaps it's an EVIL recipe not to be disclosed to angelic hyenas such as ourselves.:rotfl2:

OMG, that is the funniest part!!! It's been TAKEN OUT! Taken down, rubbed out... Burned, clipped, done, whacked, popped.

Dang, you really CAN find anything on the web... :rotfl:

I think I'm just getting some of the scar tissue starting to grow, plus I think some of the nerves are starting to regenerate. It's nothing really bad, just gets a bit tiring after a couple of weeks.

oh the joys of healing, hubby has issues with one of his scars. He has a yucky one on his back running along his shoulder blade (they bundled the tissues under it making for a ridge ropey scar) .. which I get asked to scratch on a weekly basis since he can't quite reach it.

The good thing about yours -- reachable to ease the itchiness.

ohhhh we are watching the Exorcist, no puking or head twisting yet.

I'm always sitting at my desk scratching that area. I have to be careful since my office has windows and everyone in the parking lot can see me. :rotfl: It's really itchy a few inches under the armpit. Plus my cleavage area is itchy and the area where it's attached to the radiated area is peeling skin where it got stretched. But I'm happy to report the Ibuprofen has kicked in and my back and abdomen are no longer hurting. However I can't take Ibuprofen and Prozac at the same time...so I had a choice tonight and I guess the hot flashes are going to win.:lmao:

I do have an area on my back that got radiated that always itches. I've found the remote control works quite nicely for that.:thumbsup2

I've heard that pears make good apple pies.. yes really. Something about the sugar content and the crispness of the pear is actually better than most apples for a pie. It will taste like apple.

Ooooo, look at this one (http://www.calpear.com/cns_rec.cfm#:

Bartlett Pear and Almond Croustade

Pastry for Single Pie Crust

4 ripe, but firm, Bartlett Pears, peeled, cored and sliced
1/4 cup apricot preserves
2 tbsps brown sugar
2 tbsps cornstarch
3/4 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Topping

2 tbsps flour
1 1/2 tbsps butter
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsps sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 400° F. Lay pastry flat on a large parchment-lined baking sheet and set aside. Place pears in a medium bowl and add preserves, brown sugar, cornstarch, extract and cinnamon; toss well to coat pears with mixture. Mound pears in the center of the pastry and gather up the edges up to form a 2-inch rim of pastry around the outside. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, butter and brown sugar until crumbly; sprinkle over the opening of the pie and top with almonds. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool for at least 30 minutes to firm up the filling before cutting.

Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 20 to 25 minutes

Mmmm Hubby and I were talking about that. He got these pears from a guy he works with that has a pear tree.. Obviously.. :lmao: But they LOOK like apples, and taste like really crisp pears. They are just yummy!

I've made cranberry pies, they taste like cherry but not as naueatingly sweet.

I was sad when MIL stopped working at the cranberry marsh-- boohoo, lost my supplier of jumbo ziploc bags full of cranberries. :sad1:

Dang.. why do we always end up talking about food? Im starving now. :guilty:

Really???

I love cherry pie, but it's way too sweet. And cranberries are so good for us! I'll have to see if I can find a recipe! :thumbsup2

Oh gosh, I saw that when I was a pre-teen or early teen!!! :scared:

I can remember watching it...it was on a Friday night, November 1979. I was a freshman in high school. My older stepsister and I were allowed to stay up and watch it. We slept together stuffed into one little twin bed for the next week.:lmao:

:lmao:

I will have to give that tip to hubby.:rotfl:

And if anyone ever has a full arm cast...I gave DD the Hoover Steam Vac plastic cleaner tool, it bends and works nicely for those itches under the cast.:thumbsup2

Oh Yummy! My in-laws almost bought a cranberry bog once. But then shortly after they started looking my MIL was diagnosed with MS. So they wisely decided that wasn't such a good idea.

Let's see how did we start talking about food? Oh yeah, now I remember. Megan was stealing her DS's candy bar. Does that ring a bell?:lmao:

Oh, sorry!

:lmao: You should be. I blame YOU. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Kidding! I remembered Half of Mikalahs dinner was n the fridge. Reheated it, and she she looked at me. Thanks mom! I was hungry!!:lmao: Brat. So was I.

Soooo... Did I tell you about going to walmart yesterday? Yeah. I walked past a full length mirror. It was SCARY! :lmao: Im going to have to do another picture.. So you can see how Ive grown. :lmao: :lmao:
