The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

:thumbsup2 You know.. I was telling my sister that when DH was on unemployment we could file online, and she said that they couldnt. It all had to be mailed in. Isnt that kind of odd? I would think that California would have a better system then that!

The weekly filing is easy. But I swear they are complete idiots when it comes to anything else. We had to send in all of his paperwork after he completed school. We faxed it and mailed it twice and still they couldn't seem to locate it.:confused3 Finally DH had to make an appointment and hand deliver it to his caseworker, along with proof of prior faxing. Then they still kept sending him notes that he was going to be ineligible for benefits because he didn't return the paperwork. It took numerous calls to get that straightened out. I can see them losing things once, but losing things 3 times!

my sister is having some ISSUES with his too. They have to mail in the weekly stuff, and almost every dang time, there is something wrong with it. Something is inst checked, or checked wrong..

:thumbsup2 :cool1: Awesome!! Ill keep my fingers crossed for him!

The job market is not that great right now. He's been applying for production supervisor, heavy equipment and anything else he might be even halfway qualified to do. A lot of the guys that were laid off when Panasonic closed still haven't found jobs, so he's not alone.

Several of his old co-workers & friends have stopped by the house lately and see the new car. DH just tells them that unemployment pays really well!:rotfl: Of course we joke and say if the economy gets much worse we could have a hard time at the welfare office trying to convince them that we really do need food stamps while driving a brand new Mercedes.:rotfl:

You would really think that the unemployment offices would have access to hiring some of the best people. But no, they seem to hire total idiots.

My DH thought it was rather ironic that he lost his job due to foreign competition and when he had to go to the meeting for the Trade Adjustment Act information they assigned him a caseworker. The man barely speaks English and DH has to ask him several times to repeat what he is saying. DH said that several of his old co-workers were also assigned to this man and asked to be changed. Some of them were downright angry about losing their job due to foreign competion and then being assigned a caseworker that barely speaks understandable English.

Unless they come up with something unknown on his physical we really thing they are going to offer him a position. He will be stuck with crappy hours and working holidays and weekends for the first few years. But they said they have a lot of people retiring so he would end up with fairly good senority within 2-3 years.

I can't imagine they would be spending this much money on tests, physical's, drug tests, vision & hearing tests if they weren't seriously considering hiring him. We're trying not to get our hopes up too high, but so far it seems to be a good sign.

I know.. It totally sucks right now. My sister is BROKE now. They have gone through their savings, which did last about 5 months.. and now, they are out of money.

I know it.. That whole thing just BLOWS.

Thats great! I always had the crappy hours when I was working. More pay, for working the holidays... and I didnt have kids, so I didnt care about that.

That does sound promising!

my kids are watching Star Wars.. Episode 1, with Jar-Jar Binks.. Mikalah is rolling on the floor laughing at him.

The only thing that it would really interfere with is mx racing with the kids. But even if he has to work on weekends, then my brother always goes to the races and several of our friends do as well. So they can help me with loading and unloading the bikes. Even though motocross is not really my thing, I would be there for the kids if DH can't be.

If the kids were younger it really wouldn't work. With both parents working, it really does take 2 to make things run smoothly and we also need time for just us. But now that the kids are getting older it would be easier to work odd hours.

I have no idea what DS is watching. They just got back from racing and he will probably fall asleep on the couch here in a few minutes. DD just had to run over to her friends house for a little bit. DH is out unloading the truck and cleaning motorcycles. I'm sitting around doing nothing. I got a bit of a headache on Friday and have had an upset tummy this afternoon.

I need to get off the computer so DD can finish up her homework. TTYL!

Aww.. Im sorry you dont feel well. I have pretty much gotten the house in order... I gave the fellas their haircuts today. I havent done that in YEARS. So they both look a little wonky. :scared:

I've been working on it but the dog's still can't figure out how to talk back to me, the cats well they just have their own agenda and wouldn't speak to me even if they could.

really? You must not have the kitties trained well yet-- Poly talks to me everyday. We have a whole conversation when I get up in the morning-- telling me all the evil things the boys did to her before I was awake.

Hubby was dialyzing, I was reading some interesting websites and contemplating my spritual life.

During this self study.. My cell phone rings, all of the cells had been dead and turned off until the day before when J decided to charge them all. No particular reason, he just decided to have them charged up on the off chance we would need it.

Glad they were on... J answers and notices on the screen that it's DNTheMarine, totally unexpected call. We had said our "best wishes" and fierce hugs a few weeks ago, when he was here on leave.

He had a very short layover before winding his way across the globe. Just a few minutes of time to call family and friends, with a low battery and a cell phone that will soon be worthless out of the country.

Out of all the people he could call, he is a social butterfly -- tons of friends, girlfriend, my parents and his own parents/siblings...

He called us.. awwwwwww :lovestruc

I feel honored.

I made a point of saying "We love you." before we hung up. The family I grew up in did not say the words "love you", yes we hugged, we talked, we showed caring for each other..

but those simple words--
"I love you"
are not said.

Give your kids a big hug and say those words today.

Apparently the smell travels faster than the speed of internet.:thumbsup2 How are you this evening?

I started gettting a bit of a headache on Friday, still had it yesterday. Finally I took a Tylenol today and that got rid of it. DH said that I tossed and turned last night and was snoring horribly. This afternoon my tummy started feeling horrible and I spent a bit of time in the bathroom. Luckily the Imodium seemed to work.

Don't really know if it's something I ate, or if I'm trying to come down with something. That's the only problem with the sinus rinse, you can't really tell if you are sick or not.:confused3

Well that was interesting. I ask how you are this evening and then I answer my question.:rotfl2:

Sorry you're feeling punky, too. It stinks! :(

Hopefully whatever it is, it will move along quickly.
