does anyone know if, the double beds are like a full size bed or smaller?
just confused with the terms :)

I'm just speaking from sleeping in one, I don't have any official confirmation, but the double bed felt to be about the same size as a full bed. Maybe Tyler knows for sure... Tyler, are you out there???

I'm no expert, but I was always under the impression that double and full were the same thing.

I believe double and full size are synonomous. They seem to be exactly the same size as the full-size bed we have in our guest bedroom.

I would like to know if the jets will be fixed by our June trip, my son will be heartbroken, it was his favorite part of the hotel last year we spent so much time there. It was great to stop there on our way back to the room for our afternoon breaks during that 90 degree weather.

We have just returned (Feb. 8-16). It was a little disappointing that the jets were being rehabed. But on our last day, it looked like they were all finished and just had to clear away some building materials. It looked as though it could open any day! :flower:

First of all... THANKS! to everyone who offered such great info in this thread. All of the questions and replies were great help!

Our stay: Feb. 8-16, 2005
Our crew: myself(32), dh(33), dd(6) and ds(4)

We arrived around 1pm on Feb. 8th and were able to get a room right away! We were shown the map and shown a few areas that we could choose from.
I asked for 4th floor (to avoid extra noise for my early to bed kids).

We were given a room in the 70's (6400's) on the top floor of the building with the Mickey phone. We were on the side facing the pop jet/twister/fuseball(sp) area, not the lakeside. This location was perfect for us! We were probably closer to classic hall than a lot of the 60's rooms. Which also meant closer to the bus stops. We were also close to the hippy dippy pool. We usually used the 8-track stairs, but relied on the elevator a few times when we were carrying sleeping kids home.

The rooms are the size of regular hotel rooms. We were fine for the 8 nights, but we didn't "hang out" in the room... it was used for sleeping.

We requested a hair dryer and extra towels when we first got into our room and it was brought up right away. (We wanted to hit the pool immediately!)

I brought a small jug kettle with us to make coffee and oatmeal in the room. There was room to store it under the sink. It could be plugged in by the sink or over by the small table.

Our first stop on the way to the room was to pick up some refillable mugs and some frozen coke!! We enjoyed those ALOT during the trip.

Mousekeeping entertained us some of the days with some towel characters, arranging the kids toys etc.

The transportation was great! The only time we complained was when the cheerleaders were in town, the crowds at MK were crazy! (either because the cheerleaders and/or their families were there, or because everyone was avoiding MGM where their competitions were) On two evenings (long before park closing) we had to wait for an hour or so. Buses would come, fill up and leave, so we waited for 3 or 4 buses.

We dined at most of the deluxe resorts, but the kids were still most impressed with POP. They thought we were staying at the most fun resort at WDW! So I think it will be our choice for the next trip. :flower:

Glad to hear you had a good time, Minnie Mommy! We've requested the 70's too, in hopes of being as close as possible to Classic Hall :)

Can't remember; does the pool rent noodles or other items? I know they have lifevests for little kids. I do water aerobics at home, and I am trying to figure out how to get all my exercise in since there is no fitness equipment at Pop. I know I will do a lot of walking and can do the cardio portion of my water aerobics in the pool, but I hate to miss the strength portion (such as it is) for 5 days. Oh, and what are the depths of each of the pools? Thanks!

Anyone know why if you put the address of POP (1050 Century Dr., Lake Buena Vista) in Mapquest it says it doesn't exist?

Mapquest isn't up-to-date.

Use the Budget rent-a-car site. They have good directions.

When we were there, we went to Everything POP and bought a soft football and tossed it back and forth in the Hippie Dippy pool (there were only about 8 other people in there besides us.) We asked the lifeguard first if it was ok and he said sure. The football was only $5 and had all the sporty characters. We loved it and it gave us something to do besides just swim :)

Well, at least it tells you it doesn't exist. Usually, it will direct guests to Century Drive in Downtown Orlando.

Tyler, Mapquest did come back and say "we found Century Drive in Orlando, did you mean that one?"

I'll try the Budget website for directions. Thanks!

I have requested to be in the big wheel building facing the Mickey phone. Has anyone made such a request and had it granted? Also, we will be checking in around 5 in the evening on a Saturday. Will that be a hard time to check in and get a room that we have requested since a lot of people check out on Sunday?

Hi,
Somebody mentioned in an earlier post that you can go to the beach at the Polynesian if you are not a guest of that hotel. Does that mean you can just tour the grounds or can you take advantage of the facilitles if you are staying at another Disney resort. WE will be staying at the pop.
Thanks :flower:

I think it is OK to visit the grounds and stuff, but can't use amenities, such as pools. Big no-no!

That's great news (sorry they weren't open for you though). Thanks for sharing.

We requested the 70's section and ended up with the perfect view. As soon as we opened our door, there was the Mickey phone, if we looked to the right, there was the big wheel, and if we looked to the left, there was the lake. We were on the top floor. Here is a link to my page with pictures from our trip:

http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=viewall&albumID=195359879

The first picture is the view from our room to the right.
The twelfth picture is the view from our room as soon as we opened the door.
The last picture is the view from our room to the left.

Also- I think I remember earlier on this thread that someone wanted to know what the POP Jet area looked like. On the link above I have a picture of it. It's the 1st picture in the twelfth row down.

One night I was at the Polynesian beach... it was empty. My friend had just lost a loved one, and I was consoling her. We were then approached by security, and were told that the beaches were for the exclusive use of the Polynesian Guests, and that we needed to leave.

:teeth: When we were at Pop, we walked down to the furthest 50's bldg, walked to the top floor and enjoyed the fireworks. I might add that at most there might have been 2 other people there on any night. We would not have interfered with somebody who was staying on that floor, but it was never a problem.

We stayed in the 60's, ground floor, with a pool view and this worked well for us. We are staying in July in the same bldg. :Pinkbounc The the 90's and the 50's can involve a bit of a walk to the food court, especially relevant at the end of the day...and depending on the location of the room. But having said that, I would still rather be there than the POR resort where walking to the food court was a real pain! I could never get this rate at POR.

I noticed that the Pop removed the Vanilla Coke and replaced it with apple juice, I am wondering why? as vanilla coke was the favorite drink with my sons. The frozen cokes are awesome!
:cheer2:
