Can you see any fireworks from the resort poolside or is it just lakeside?
By the way Elaine, Thank you for the wonderful report. Just 30 more days and we will be enjoying POP for ourselves and we cant wait!

Looking at the map, 50's is closer to parking. Is that correct? We had requested 70's to be closer to the main bldg, and the bus stop, but now are planning on renting a car.

My DD, likes the look of the bowling pin pool, so I'm thinking of changing my preferences to the 50's area. I know nothing is a guarantee, but, will they get sick of me changing my preferences?

Alright, another best room question -- I've got a 2 year old who we think will be obsessed with the Goofy fountains...what bldgs would be best to request for this?

As of Feb 5, the day I checked out, the Pop Jets were being rehabbed. They were all torn up and there was a small wall around the area. Does anybody know when they'll be fixed, if they're not already.

I would like to know if the jets will be fixed by our June trip, my son will be heartbroken, it was his favorite part of the hotel last year we spent so much time there. It was great to stop there on our way back to the room for our afternoon breaks during that 90 degree weather.

We were in the 1100's in the 50's bldg. (I don't know the building number, I can't find a map with them numbered?!?!?) and we had very quick access to the parking lot as well as easy access ot the bowling pin pool. We were a bit further from the petal pool and the other side of the resort, but for us, it was fine. Loading and unloading our van was easier and when we wanted to go to a different pool or to the food court, etc. it was a quick walk. I'd say if vehicle access is a major factor you might want to ask for the 1100-1400 rooms in the 50's bldg. We did however move our vehicle from the area in the parking lot marked 50's to the 60's area which was closer to our room. The lots were not packed full so I didn't feel bad about doing it. I don't think I prevented anyone in the 60's bldg. from having a spot in that lot if they wanted it.

Believe it or not, I never even saw the Goofy water jets!!! I don't know if they were under rehab or not. I kept meaning to walk over that way, but since I had to go to UCF two days of our trip and we went to the Magic Kindgom the other day we were on property, I just didn't get much of a chance to walk around and look at everything. I had thought hubby and the kids would check out the playground and the water jets, but apparently they were satisfied with the bowling pin pool, the petal pool and the kiddie pool water jets and never ventured over to the Goofy jets either. I saw the giant goofy from the parking lot as we were driving around the building when we were leaving and there was no water shooting out of him ... so if he's supposed to be a part of the water system, then most likely it was closed ... but I'd bet it'll be back up and in full working order failry quickly. I can't imagine Disney leaving a water feature closed very far into the spring and definitely not into summer.

We were never at the POP at fireworks time so I can't offer anything first hand. I've read lots of posts that do say you can see them lakeside from the higher level rooms. However the CM that I asked about it at check-in seemed to think it was impossible to see anything other than maybe the tip top of a very few of the highest fireworks. But then again, he did mention that he wasn't usually stationed at POP so maybe he just didn't know?

:earsgirl: Geez, I'm ready to go back! *LOL*

I have not stayed her yet (come on December!), but if I'm reading the maps right, the lakeside is toward Epcot, so you can see some of their fireworks (just the high stuff). Poolside rooms face away from all of the parks, so I doubt you could see anything there. In that case, I would just wlak around and hang out by the lake to see what I could see.

ummm I dont imagine there is anything to stop people from walking over to those 2nd floor "public" walkways so they can see EpCot even if their room isnt on that floor - I mean the ppl in those rooms didnt pay for those balconies any more than the rest of the ppl
I would stay off the 60s bldg however

Building numbers are easy. Exit everything Pop turn right towards Lady. The buildings are numbered sequentially counter clockwise. 50's 1,2,3 60s 4,5 70's 6 (mickey phone) and 10 "0" (bigwheel) see below.

Pool – The 10th bowling pin
Building 1 – Lady
Building 2 – Jukebox
Building 3 – Tramp

60s:

Has there been any estimated time on when the Legendary Years will be completed. I think staying in the 20's building would be a hoot! I really thought, with the increase in the amount of guests expected in the next year and a half for the 50th Anniversary celebration that they would want to have those extra rooms completed.

Anyone know???? :confused3

eeyore:

I asked a question about the Legendary Years to a CM during our stay and in the process of answering my question he made the comment " ... if it ever gets finished, they keep changing the dates and having delays ..." I'm guessing at least part of the problem has been last years hurricanes?!?!?

I know that doesn't answer your question, but at least the one CM I talked to had no clue and offered no projected dates. FWIW, I didn't see ANY construction work going on during our visit. Of course we were there over a weekend, but I would have thought at least on Monday something would have been going on?!?!?

:confused3 Elaine

Pop Century 50's - 90's was delayed for years as well. THey will finish them when they need the resort space. If the resorts aren't filling, why spend the money on a new one?

Guess I did not make my message clear. I meant to walk out to the lake on the ground, not on the walkways in front of people's rooms. If anyone can go to the beach at the Poly, I assume that same thing applies to the public lake at Pop, too. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Im sorry Lisa, I didnt mean it that way

I was talking from personal thinking - If we cant see the fireworks from our room Im thinking of walking over to a public hallway where I can

Great thread, it's so nice to hear good reviews on Pop! DH and I are taking my cousins (9 and 11) to WDW for their first visit in May!
I requested non-smoking, 70's on my ressie, but I got the confirm and it just says non-smoking. Should I call CRO to get another confirm with the 70's request on it?
You guys are great, thanks a bunch! :)

From what I recall from our trip in September, the only rquest they list on your reservation is the smoking/non smoking one. We requested non smoking, king room, 70's section, and when we got our ressie it only said non smoking. I called a few times to make sure they had our other requests, I even had them put in a note that we wanted a king room b/c the BF is 6' 4" and I am 5' 10". The couple times I called, the person would say they were typing in the requests, and then the next time I called, they weren't there again and the person had to type them in again. I called about 3 times in a 4 month time period, once being the night before we checked in. When we checked in, I asked again, and we were told that we could not have a king room unless we wanted to switch rooms half way through our stay...no thanks :) We were ok without the king for the most part, just had to sleep in separate beds and he had to sleep at an angle sort of. We did, however, get our non smoking and our 70's section and we got a GREAT room view, so we were SOO happy :) Good Luck and have a great time- I LOVE POP!

When I made our ressie back in November, I requested 70's, lakeside, smoking and double beds. My ressie doesnt say any of those things but I called this week just to make sure everything is all set and they had all my requests in the computer. She read them right off to me and was so pleasant. I wouldnt be worried about not seeing them in writing but you can always call and check. They are the nicest people to talk to over the phone.

does anyone know if, the double beds are like a full size bed or smaller?
just confused with the terms :)

I'll call CRO tomorrow to make sure they have the 70's request. :) Should I call Pop Century directly before I leave for WDW to make sure they've got our requests, just in case?
