The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

Hi! We stayed at the Pop for two wonderful weeks in November and can't wait to go back! We live overseas and when we got to the Pop and climbed out of the car in from of the resort two things struck us. One was the lovely warm weather and the other was the music! There was music playing outside while we unloaded our bags and we have been trying to remember what songs were playing but can't! If anyone remembers I'd sure love to know, thanks

Great thread :cheer2:!

We have 37 hours of music... the luggage loop is only 2-4 hours though. Although I cannot remember the songs, I can however probably tell you whatever the next song is! lol

Awww :) well I can imagine what the music outside the luggage area was like when we arrived, because I was so happy :goodvibes! Although I guess it had more with having my dream finally coming true than the exact songs. I remember going into the lobby to look for a luggage trolly, because we arrived late late! I was so taken aback by the reception area, I just loved everything about it. Beautiful! Plus there was music playing in there too!
We are going back all right!

I have a preferred room booked for my upcoming trip. I would love a view of Illuminations. I have looked at the map, and don't understand exactly why a lake view room in the 50's or 70's would have a view of Illuminations, but the 60's wouldn't... Can anyone help me understand?? :earsboy:

"Preferred" has nothing to do with the view. Some of the preferred rooms are closer to the Food Court, but not all of the rooms. The ones down at the end or the back could be the same or farther than the walk from some of the 50's or 70's rooms. And the parking lot is definitely further.

I stayed in the 50's twice, both times with a view of the lake and IllumiNations. Our walk was, at most, 4 minutes to the Food Court and our view was more like a moderate. Would not book a preferred room unless I wanted to be right next to or have a view of the Hippy Dippy pool. Even then the actual room location would only be a request.
Hope this helps! :flower:

My DD and I are going back to POP in March. I can't remember - what hours are the food court open??? Also, what hours are the pools open???

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

anyone have pics of the rooms?it looks soooo fun on the outside,,,,sooo colorful..yeah a lil cheesy buy I like it lol......i just wanna see INSIDE the rooms,,etc,,thanks sooo much for the pics!!!!

One thing I was disappointed with, that there were no Pop Century postcards I could buy like at other hotels! The Pop is so cool looking, so over the top and wonderful, that when we were there we wanted to show our friends and relatives what they were missing. The Pop deserves it's own postcards!

allisonwonderland, there are pic's of the rooms all over the net and certainly on this site. Be careful though, I did a google image search and came up with images of people in the rooms as well, and even though I know it's a resort it was wierd seeing strangers lounging in "my" bed :earseek: if you know what I mean!

We are booked in the Jungle Book bldg for June. (At $59!) That is in the 60's right? I haven't really heard anything good about the 60's though, everyone seems to be saying 50s or 70s. Anyone really like 60s?? :confused3

How did you get that rate? It is so frustrating to hear people paying such low rates when I am paying 99 a night for the same month. Not to take it out on you, I'm happy for you to get it, I just wish they would "spread the love" : )

The 60's is the preferred location - so be thrilled that you got it for so cheap!!! I stayed in the 50's last year and going back in March but I don't know which building we will be in. All the buildings are close to the main one though!!! Have fun!

I'm also paying $59 a night for POP next week. Mine is the Passholders rate.

I am staying at the Pop this May. How deep are the pools? Do they have the pool toys (i.e. mat) for rent. I was thinking about bringing my own float, but it would be too much of a hassle to blow up, de-compress, re-pack it etc.

Also, I have read that the CMs sometimes perform the hussle and the twist. Is this done in the cafeteria? Is it usually in the evenings?

Thanks in advance!

The rooms are understated ( I was very relieved!) and nicely done. I found them much nicer than All Stars.

I don't think they have pool toys and such that you can rent but I don't see why you couldn't bring your own. I didn't notice anyone with floats or anything but then again, when I was there 3 weeks ago, there were not a lot of people swimming!

As for the Hustle and the Twist, I did not witness this myself but they DO perform both. I think the Hustle is at 8a in the Food Court and the Twist is at 6p in the Food Court. I may have these reversed. I'm sure someone on here remembers!

If you miss these, there are always (well at least in the daytime) CMs out front with hula hoops and sidewalk chalk!

Have fun!

I got an email with a PIN. Took us 5 different calls to get it, and it cut our bill almost in half, because I was originally booked at $111. yeah!

I received a post card with the $59 rate about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I had already made my reservations, but I was able to get the lower rate applied. If you belong to AAA, there is a 15% discount for the rooms (I originally had a $85/night rate). It might be worth a call to see if they have a AAA rate available.

ebarj1098 (or anyone else with the info)

How did you know which building you are booked for in advance? Did someone give you this info? Or is this just what you requested?

Thanks!

MinnieMommy, ebarj1098 must have a reservation for the preferred building (60's) which is $10 more per night. That would be the only way she would know for sure she's getting that location.

Have fun!
