It's SO COOL to see first timers going! One of the things that I always love to see the look on people's faces (adults and children alike) when they first see Disney - well, MK specifically. I just can't help but get teary

Enjoy every second

Hi Everyone!

We are going back to the Pop on Oct 2nd with the free dining code!

We loved this Resort. The only thing we wish we could change is the bus stop at the MK, lol. We stayed in the 50's last time so we hope to be in the 70's or 80's for this trip.

I think we will rent a stroller this time, instead of doing the DIS stroller swap like last time (Tyler saved the day and found the stroller for me when it got lost). Does anyone know if there is still a multiday stroller rental discount?

We are looking forward to our first stay at the POP in October...(after the free dinning plan ends :guilty: ). 10/19/05 :goodvibes We requested the 60's building...preferred...lake side, top floor. I guess well have to wait and see what we get. I'm sure I'll come up with some questions about POP before our trip... :rotfl:

Oh...heres one...when you go to other resorts from POP do you have to transfer busses?...for example were wanting to go to Whispering Canyon for dinner our first night....how hard will that be (there's 11 of us). Some other places were wanting to go are.....Ohana's (maybe) and maybe Chef Mickey's...staying at POP with out a car rental...will this be hard or two time consuming?

I recently booked a vacation for Dec 14-21 for my family of 4 and this will be our first stay at the POP. I have a few questions, and I'm sure down the line, I will think of a few more...

For anyone who has been there in December (this will be a first for us in that month), how is the weather? I am from MA and in Dec., it is pretty cold, so I am hoping for some mild weather down South.

I have 2 children, DD7 and DS4, and was wondering which building would be a good bet for us to be as close to the amenities as possible? I don't know if it will be warm enough for pools when we will be there, but what about a playground? Also, which building is closest to the "Everything Pop" place? Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with walking and actually love a scenic, brisk walk, but with little ones who are out of the stroller stage, it can be tiring for them. Last year we did a combo cruise/vaca and stayed at the CBR for 5 nights. I had requested a building as close as possible to the main themed pool, however did not pay the extra $ for a preferred room/building. I figured I would just take a chance. On the day of check-in, we were given a room as farthest away from the food court/main pool as possible ~ as if I never requested a closer room at all. :confused3 I guess it wasn't in the stars for us to get a decent room during that trip since on the ship (Disney Magic), our cabin room was below some nightclub where we heard a piano and banging above us for 4 nights in a row! When I called guest services (on the ship) to complain about the "noise" (mind you this was on the 3rd night), I was told I could come to the guest relations desk and pick up some earplugs! And talk about not being accomidating , I had booked this trip 1 year in advance, and basically my most important request was to have the earliest seeting for dinner as my youngest was just turning 3 the week of the cruise, and was still taking naps, etc. Once we arrived, I was given the later dinner times, and was told that there nothing that could be done to help us. For every dinner, my son would pass out in either my lap, DH's lap, or the chair at the table that was supposed to be his, and his dinner would go uneaten. We ended up taking a bowl of fruit and a few cartons of milk back to room every night so he would have something to eat once he woke. I hope at least this time, I will be able to get a better room while staying at the resort.

This leads me to my next ? ~ Our flight does not arrive in Florida until 4:30 pm on a Wednesday, and we are going with the ME option. So, since we will not be checking in until later that afternoon (we will be at the mercy of Disney), do you think that my chances of getting a room on the 50's or 70's building will be nil, due to the (unavoidable) later check-in time?

And here's another on the refillable mugs...We have never bought them in the past, but figured we would try this time around. I am thinking 2 will be enough (more for the kids than us), and wonder, do they have more than 1 color so they will not get mixed up? And are there different sizes/prices? If yes, what is the difference in size/price? Also, other than carbonated drinks, can you also get milk, juice, or hot chocolate in them? What about frozen cokes? (Nothing like being prepared, hehe). :drinking1

Okay, so that is it for now and a a special THANK YOU to Tyler who I hope to meet in December.

I am so excited because I just made a deposit on my reservation. :cool1: It is not until Feb. 6 but since I have been lurking and planning since last November this is major progress. :flower: My TA said that she has been making a lot of reservations for Feb. and had made one a half hour earlier for the same dates. One of the reasons we picked early Feb. was that it was not susposed to be as crowded. Oh well, we will have a great time no matter what. :goodvibes

1. Refillable mugs: come in red, Orange and Blue and there are 2 sizes. (1 fits in drink holders and 1 is bigger on the bottom) You can not get juice or milk, with them but you can get coffee, hot chocolate, soda and frozen icee's. I am pretty sure they are the same price, please correct me if I'm wrong!!! ($12.00)

2. 50's and 70's are the closest to the Everything Pop Food Court and Bus Stop without paying the preffered rate to stay in the 60's section! I don't know about checking in on the afternoon, we checked in around noon and were put in the 50's Bowling Pin Section and loved it, even though I had requested the 70'2 section!

3. From what I've read about the weather is it just varies! Some days 70-80's in the days and 50-60's at night or as cold as 50's during the day to 30's at night, so be prepared to bring layers of clothing!

I hope this helps and enjoy your stay at POP!!!

Thanks Julie,

For being one of the first to reply. I was hoping for juice refills on the mugs as I try to discourage excess drinking of soda with the kids. Even having a little "less than magical" experience with our Disney trip last year, it in no way soured me from going again (and again, and again). The look on the children's faces is worth every second of it :goodvibes

Lori

BTW~ I'm with you on the pink ribbon (ie, me too).

With the refilable mugs....what are the icees that you can get? And is it you buy the mug then get free refills as long as your there? Can the mugs be used in the parks or other resorts?

Lori,
I know what you mean about hoping the juice and milk are included!!! 1 pint of milk and small bottle of juice everyone morning really adds up...like $2.00 each and I paid over $1.00 for a bannana, but my daughter ate and drank everything I bought her so I never complained!!! But I would suggest buying a gallon of milk and renting a refridgerator or bringing your own cooler! Also another suggestion is bring those wash and toss Dawn clothes to clean your mugs with and if your children both want them same color mugs then bring little stickers and place your child's name on the cup! Also, the drink holder cup looks like it wouldn't hold as much liquid, but someone on these boards did a comparison on the measurment and it actually holds more than the bigger bottom one!!! Don't you just LOVE these boards!!! SO HELPFUL!!!

Yes, you pay 1 price for the mug and the refills are good for your entire stay at that resort!!! They are not good in the parks! During my stay in May 2004 they had Cola and Cherry Icees, but I think they change flavors, but I don't know how often!

Julie,

Thanks again for the tips, and YES, I am so glad that I found this site! To tell the truth, I don't even know how I found it, but it sure is informative. That is too bad about the juice/milk thing, and I complain about the price of a gallon of milk here ($3.00). My son(4) drinks a lot of milk, so much so that I joke about how we should own a cow. I was thinking of brinking along a Sharpie to write their names on the mugs (perhaps on the bottom), and I like the look of the ones with the cup-like bottoms, so I hope they will have that style. Also, I love the tip on bringing along the Dawn wipes to clean them out. This trip we are not renting a car, so we will not be able to go to the market and get supplies, which kind of bums me out since I am a water drinker and find the H2O at Disney kind of gross. Last time we (DH & I) brought Brita bottles with the charcoal filters in them ~ they worked pretty good. Maybe I'll pack them again.

Nothing too dreadful, just not that great of rooms on either the cruise or the CBR.(refer to my original post on this thread). It did not ruin our vacay...and the weeks that we were there (in March 04), the weather was gorgeous! So that was most important...that and the kids had a super time in the parks, on the ship, and interacting with the characters. We have not told them about the trip that is planned for this year...I figured I would do all the packing (nothing new there), and we'll tell them once we get to the airport. That way they won't be asking, "Is it December yet???" for the next 6 months, LOL!

There are no direct bus routes from one resort to another. You can take a bus to the TTC and, then, transfer to the next resort bus.

Another idea is to take a cab. Yes, I know that Disney has free transportation, but my friend and I took a cab a couple of times when we were there and wanted to get to the parks right away. You could even call Checker Cab and request a taxi (or large van) for the next day. We made a reservation the night before we took a taxi to the airport. The taxi was right on time and it worked perfectly for us! :)

Enjoy your trip!
