We are planning to visit WDW July4th-July9th. We have rooms reserved at Pop Century Resort. I trying to figure out which rooms to ask for, I called disney and they were very friendly and said we could request rooms we preferred. This is the first time visit to Florida and WDW. We would like rooms with lakeside view and can see some fireworks. Which era shall I request? Thanks for the help! :earsgirl:

1. Refillable mugs: come in red, Orange and Blue and there are 2 sizes. (1 fits in drink holders and 1 is bigger on the bottom) You can not get juice or milk, with them but you can get coffee, hot chocolate, soda and frozen icee's.

In Dec. Apple juice was included in the fountain drink dispensers, has this changed?

I am almost positive I saw apple juice too. Maybe someone can confirm it.

BTW - When we were there in April they had blue raspberry (I thought they were really good, DH said gross) and frozen Cokes.

SORRY EVERYONE!!!
In May 2004, there was not any juice, because that is why I did not buy my DD3 a refillable cup, she only drinks water, juice and milk!!!
Sorry for posting something about the apple juice that has changed!!!
Julie

I was just there in March/April of 2005 and I'm almost positive there was apple juice.

Also, the link you provided does list apple juice as an option.

Edited to add: Another link and information about apple juice.

We also purchased the refillable mugs. I'd say they were worth it to us, though nearly all of us wanted hot chocolate and the machine never seemed to be working right. However, you CAN get apple juice in the mug...as I understood it before, only soda and coffee/tea were allowed (none of us are carbonation fans). Plus they are great for drinking tap water in your room, better than the regular flimsy plastic cups. We all had different colored mugs, so it saved the mix-up of the provided plastic cups, as well.

I realize there is apple juice as a choice now, that is why I said I was SORRY for posting that it was not an option!!! I did not mean to misinform anyone!!!
SORRY AGAIN,

Ah, gotcha!

Thanks ok! There is so much information to learn, isn't there?! :)

Thanks for your help. Sounds like 50's, 60's, or 70's bldg. on 4th floor sounds good. I don't know who is more excited me or the kids, just 25 days to do.

My hubby is not much on amusement parks and crowds :grouphug: , I am hoping he enjoys WDW and will want to come back again and again, thats why I trying to find a great place to stay in the Pop.

I already know I will want to go back again, so :earsgirl:

Thanks Again!

Just wanted to let you know my husband isn't much for amusement parks either but I'm starting to lose track of how many times we've been back now. :teeth: We don't even think of Disneyworld as an amusement park. I hope your husband loves it so you can go again and again.
We stayed at Pop last year and we're returning this year, so I think you'll like it.

Another laptop question....

If we bring our own laptop, I know there is a phone jack to plug into (which would be dial up) but is there a dataport which would be DSL available? Another question, if it is a phone jack is there a 75 cent local charge each time you connect to the internet or are you charged by the minute?? Any info on computer usage there would be helpful..see if it is worth bringing ours or not.... :sunny:

Bumping to see if any of the Pop Experts can help me with this question.. :sunny:

I do not know of a DSL connection. Only the dial up. There is a charge of .75 per call, not per minute. There are a few dial up access #'s listed on the first page of this thread, but be sure to ask the CM at check in if they are still local #'s.

Have a great stay! We haven't decided on taking my laptop. IF we fly we will so that we can access our reservations. If we drive I'm not sure that we will.

Hi all - I am just getting ready to book 2 rooms at the Pop and have read a lot of great info here. I am very excited. Our last stay was a business trip for DH and we splurged on Poly concierge. I still couldn't justify the cost. This is my first value resort stay but I think I will like it.

Quick question. Looking over the map, it seems there are many 50's and 70's rooms closer to everything then 60's. I really want to be close since we have my parents who aren't as quick on their toes as they used to be. Is it worth the extra $12 times 2 rooms = $125 for our 5 night stay? We have a 3 yr old dd and her grandparents w/ us

Also if we rent a car, can DH go get it and come up near the front entrance to pick us all up?

IF memory serves me correctly, there is a spot that your dh could pull up and pick everyone up. Depending on where you are headed, the dinsey transportation from Pop is great and may be easier than driving.

Some of the 50's rooms and I think 70's rooms are just as close if not closer than the 60's. I would think your parents would be fine in them. If you do decide to book the 60's I would try for the lakeside or closer to the 50's building. The main pool is right there at the 60's building and it might be too loud for your parents. HTH

Yes, just to confirm that there is a large drive where you can pull up and, then, pick up the rest of your party.

This picture is from allearsnet.com You can see a white truck in the middle. The drive continues further to the left and is fully covered.

Enjoy your stay! :)

I hate dial up. Oh well. Does anyone know of any great short term dial up (NOT AOL)?? AOL charged me over and over again and wouldn't refund money so I won't be using them. Does Disney have a provider and all you do is plug in?? HELP!!!!!!!!!!! :guilty:
