Well its finally here! We leave for the airport in just under 4 hours!!! A long day of travel ahead but I'm excited!

We won't be arriving at Pop till June 5th though (spending the first week with Mom & Dad). I'll report back with our experiences when we return! I hope Pop is wonderful! It makes me nervous when I read the "never again" threads about Pop and hope I won't come home to start one of my own!!! :goodvibes

 :cool1:  :cool1: Hope to meet some others DISers this trip!!! :cheer2:

We are leaving in 20 days and checking-in in 21 days. SO EXCITED!!!! I am not worried about any of the so called downsides to this resort. No matter what, I will be at WDW in the middle of the magic. Won't you come and join me?

Let's dance   :cool1: :cool1:

One nice experience that I had, traveling from MK to POP was when the bus driver tried to keep us occupied (A crowded bus may I add) by testing our knowledge. ***If you were on the bus when this happened, please don't spoil the fun*** Can you name 11 Disney movies that have only a one word title? :rolleyes1 First one is...Cinderella. Let's see if anyone can name 10 more....have fun! Besides this, I absolutely love POP Century!!! :lovestruc

Aren't you going to tell us which ones we got right and which ones we missed? :confused3 :teeth:

This is my first post ( well second if you include my test post)
As a "newbie" I have read the boards several times/years, but decided to join in.
Have received many many helpful hints /ideas now and in the past.
Thanks to all.
I have read all of this post ( 800+ messages)- taken a few weeks, but haven't seen a question like this.
My DH & I are coming to POP in late Aug. (Haven't been to WDW since 2001) We have always driven to the parks and have never used the buses.

Which building should we request that would have easy access to our car or parking lot, but not be too far from Classic Hall?

We definitely don't want to be facing a pool but a short walk to one would be okay.

I was thinking the 50"s?
Your thoughts?

Thanks,
Nancy

Nancy,
Here is a map of the resort:

Although the resort does look big, I must say my friend and I had the farthest room in the 80s building and had no problem with walking to the parking lot.

If you can look on the map, we stayed in a corner room right near the hourglass lake. I would say if you wanted to eat in the food court, it took us about 3-5 minutes to walk from our room to the food court.

Keep in mind that the 50's building is preferred so it is about $10 more per day if you request this. However, as you can see on the map, you could get placed very far out in the 50's building - almost as far as my friend and I walked from the 80's building.

Whatever you decide, have a fabulous trip! :)

I would say 70's building nearest the playground would be the closest to parking and classic hall. but truly, the parking lots really are not very close to the rooms at all. And finding parking that's actually near the building was never very easy. The 50's parking lots seemed further than the ones on the other side to me. Either way, the resort is not that large so it's not a huge issue. Nothing is all that far from classic hall and if your number one request is not to be facing a pool, I would stress that rather than the parking issue becuase noise by the pools is kinda loud and goes on till after midnight.

When we were there 3 weeks ago only the 60's building was considered preferred? Or at least this is what we were told. :confused3

Oops...maybe it is only 60's...not sure!

I'm getting my Masters...I can't afford another $10 day! :rotfl:

We were in the 70s and we were close to the parking lot and our car. I think the parking problem comes for people who drive to the parks each day because most people, like us, drive to WDW and use the bus transportation every day. Therefore, our car never moves. I think a lot of people do this, which does mean that parking spaces rarely become available. We had a really close spot and took our car one day to go to Walgreens and get 2 more disposable cameras (a 2 mile drive to save us $20+ ;) ) and when we got back we had to park a lot further out. Our space was snatched up as soon as we pulled out.

From my reading of this thread it is also my understanding that the 60's is the "preferred" building with the higher rate.

We were in the 50's section, fourth floor facing the lobby - the pool was on the other side of the 50's section. I liked it -very quiet but close to everything - it was only a few minutes walk to the front of the lobby where you would catch the buses. Hope this helps.

We were going to stay at ASMo because we have stayed there in the past and enjoyed it BUT....everyone seems to really like Pop so we are going to book that instead! We will be me, DH and DS 9. I think my son will really enjoy it and so what if we have to squish inot the smaller room-we will be at WDW! We will hardly be in the room anyway! Thanks to all that have posted on this thread! :wave2:

Carrie-
Your avatar (sp?) cracks me up! :rotfl2: That feels like me today! :)

LOL! It is fitting- That is me pretty much everyday! That is why I so desperately need to go to WDW!!

Yes, only the 60's buildings are preferred. We stayed in the 50's lakeside Tramp building last time and it was very peaceful and quiet. Very conveinant as well. Can't wait to get back! :cool1: :flower:

Do all the building's circle the Lake? We would like to get a room near the lake.

I just returned from POP May 22nd and the 60's is definitely the "preferred" building. I stayed in the 50's (Building1-Lady) on the corner right next to the bowling pin stairwell nearest to the main building and was closer than most of the people staying in the 60's building though. Unless you get way over at the 80's or 90's buildings I don't think it would be worth paying the extra $10.00/night for the 60's. Most of the rooms in the 50's and 70's are about as close to the main building, and alot like mine were closer..

I could stand on the walkway just outside my room and see both the bowling pin pool and the Hippy Dippy pool, but was just far enough away from both for noise not to be a problem. I was only a minute or two from the main building. It was great!
