How is this resort for adults? Any areas to request? Any areas to avoid? Comments from anyone who has stayed there without kids?
Thanks!

Dodie: I was there in January and had a 4th floor lakeside room #6458 in the '70's. Very quiet. No one running by the door. If you want quiet I'd recommend upper floor lakeside. The lower floors and those facing the pool will be noiser. Other than that I'd recommend '50's or '70's buildings since those are closer to Classic Hall. You might have similar experience with the parking lot side of the 50's and 70's. Don't have experience staying on that side in order to confirm that.
As an adult You'll enjoy the "walks down memory lane". There are a lot of things with will stir memories of those 'good ole days". There are plenty of areas to walk -- a great footpath. The food court is good but noisy when crowded. Outside prime mealtime hours it's quieter and very peaceful. I think you'll have a great time there.
Enjoy your trip!! I can't get there until the end of October :sad2:

I can't wait to get back to Pop! We just booked our room only ressie for 9/23 - 10/1. :cool1:  :Pinkbounc :cheer2: (Can you tell I'm a little excited?) We stayed at Pop last May for DD 2nd Bday and had a blast! We stayed at CBR July 03 and I LOVE Pop much more than CBR! I just can't wait!

Looking at booking a September trip. WDW veterans whose favorite resorts are Wilderness Lodge (we've rented points and stayed in the Villas there) and Port Orleans Riverside.

I am running the numbers. It looks like a switch from POR to POP, and adding only an additional $125 or so total to the package, could increase our vacation from 4 to 7 nights!!!!! Not being a fool - I am considering this.

DH and I are in our 40's, no kids. We stayed at the All Stars once when money was tight and it was okay - except for the hundreds of teenage cheerleaders screaming everywhere. :sad2:

My hubby & I have stayed at POP twice (Sept 2004 & Jan 2005) & we'll be there again in 2 weeks to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The WL is my all time favorite resort, but we love staying at POP & extending our stay. We have also stayed at AS Movies two times, but have found that we prefer POP over the All Stars.

I would highly recommend requesting a room on the 4th floor 50's section, facing the lake. We have stayed there twice now (the 2nd time we were in the room right next door to our previous room :rotfl: ) - it is nice & quiet up there & on one side of the building you can watch the fireworks from Illuminations in the distance. You can even see the top of Spaceship Earth at Epcot from up there. It's a great view for a value resort.

We always request the 50's over the 70's simply because it also has its own pool that tends to be quieter and less crowded than the main pool. If the 50's wasn't available, the 70's would definitely be my next choice.

The 2 of us really enjoy walking around this resort at night. There is a nice walkway around the perimeter of the resort and along the lake that is a quiet & relaxing way to end a crazy day at the parks. ;) It is also great to explore the decades & reminisce about different decades, or our previous trips. We also really enjoy the food court here - haven't had a bad meal there yet. Be sure to check out the fun shadow boxes in the lobby when checking in. In our experience (stayed at other values & some deluxes) the transportation at POP can't be beat. No sharing of busses with any other resort - and in a slightly better location than the All Stars - seems to be more centrally located. I think as long as you go into it with "Value" resort expectations & aren't expecting all of the amenities of a deluxe, you'll both have a great time!!! :)

Bill, We will also be checking in at POP on Jan 1 2006. Maybe we will see your family while we are there. I will have to be sure to have something lime green on. :goodvibes
I would love to meet you and your family. There is four of us, myself, DW, and 2 DS. I will look for your lime green. We always eat breakfast at our resort each morning, so maybe that will be the best way to meet.

Just booked 2 nites @ POP at the end of our June stay. Will be at WL 19-25 June and then move to POP for 25-27 June. (After that we do 27 June-1 July at HRH)

We didn't make any requests. That will be part of the fun. We're just going to relax for a couple days, catch whatever we missed at the parks (we added an 8th day to our tix for a whopping $3 each !), and maybe do a water park for a few hours (we should have one PLUS left on our tix at that point). Wonder what room we'll get or how the CMs will react when we tell them we have no room requests !!

Also, even though we are technically 2 adults and 2 children, our children are very adult size. DS16 is 6'1" and 235lbs and DS12 is 5'7" and 150 lbs. We should be able to give quite an interesting report on what it's like to have 4 adults in one room. We are bringing and Aero bed, so one DS will sleep on that.

We're real excited about staying here. So many fun pools and fun things to see. Can't wait !!!

Thanks for all the good info in this thread !!

Make sure you bring the smallest possible Aero bed. There isn't that much floor space at Pop. I would suggest maybe putting it between the beds? Otherwise, it might be a tight squeeze. Have a great time. We were just there in Septemeber and I'm longing to go back :guilty: Can't beat having the extra money for presents :teeth:

We bought a twin, just for that reason. Not sure what would fit. Worse comse to worse, we can lean it against the wall and DS16 can sleep standing up !! :rotfl:

We took a full sized aero bed to ASMusic and it was fine. Kinda tight against the door, but no big deal. We are staying in Pop (starting tomorrow  ) and bringing a twin sized aero bed this time. Iguess it will feel like we got an upgrade :teeth:

:rotfl2: LOL Good line!! Enjoy your trip!! :earboy2:

This thread had fallen so far back that I had to do a search to find it. Since I'm contemplating a POP stay and have seen so many one-off POP questions, I thought I'd "pop" this FAQ thread back to the front page for awhile.

Thanks for indulging me. :Pinkbounc

There's a handy dandy sticky thread at the top of the listings that has links to all the resort FAQs. :)

Hey Tyler, I have a ? for you. When we visited Pop last May we were in the 50's building (behind Tramp, building c right?) 1st floor corner room by the lake. We really enjoyed the location as it was quiet and conveinant to the laundry room and to Classic Hall. (Really liked the quiet part) Anyway, we are coming back Sept 23 and would like to stay in a different era and be a little closer to the goofy jet and playground. I don't want the 60's but if we stayed in the 70's lakeside would that still be quiet and conveinant to the laundry areas and such? I know we can't guarantee that, but if we get lucky where would you recommend? Thanks!

Hi!

We will be staying at Pop in July (yay!!) and I'm apologizing in advance if this question has been asked before, but we have a PS at Chef Mickey's for 8am does anyone know if we can take the bus?
Do we take it to MK and then hop on the monorail?
Also, what time should we be at the bus stop (or be calling a taxi if nothing else works)

Thanks!!!

If you aren't going to have your own vehicle then yes take the bus to MK and then either walk to CR or take the monorail (since your going in July I'd take the monorail!) If you have your own vehicle you can drive to the resort and they will let you park in their parking lot since you have PS at Chef Mickeys. We did this the first year when we stayed at CBR, but last year we rode the bus and walked to Chef Mickeys. HTH Also, since you are staying in July I would give yourself no less than 45 mins but an hour would probably be best.

70's lakeside would be quiet, and still near the Hippy Dippy pool where there is Laundry.

Be out at the bus stop 45 mins prior to your seating time. Board the MK bus. Let the driver know you are going to Chef Mickey's.

Thank you so much Tyler! I really appreciate all your help :) You deserve some sort of medal for all of this!

We also have PS at Chef Mickey for 8:00 and are staying at Pop. Will the bus take us to the CR if we ask him? I've seen you reply the same before but you've never said if the bus will stop at CR or just hurry to MK.

At that time of the morning, MOST of the time the driver will be able to. However, there are some times when the driver is unable to. But it's always advantageous to let the driver know where you are going.
