check out this website for the temp each day last May. It will give you a good idea of what to expect this coming year. http://www.wunderground.com/weather...LAN3&day=12&year=2006&month=5&graphspan=month

We were at WDW during the beginning of May. It was hot, but not nearly as humid and uncomfortable as the July/August/Octobers we have experienced. I think the hardest part is adjusting to the change in temp, if it is a big difference.

We had a great trip! Hope you do too!

Cool website! It was HOT when I was there last year 5/19 to 5/23 it was 97.0, 103.6, 103.1, 96.4, and 96.4.:scared1:

I also went to WDW last Aug the 23rd to 30th and it ranged from 84.7 to 101.5 so it really was hotter in May for me. But I think it was unseasonably hot in May and a bit cooler than normal in August.

I'm heading back to Pop May 6th to 11th. I'm hoping for more seasonable weather.

I booked my trip to Pop in August. :goodvibes

Any suggestions on room locations that I should request? :)

It depends what you want. Some folks love the ease of a first floor room-especially if they have small children. I like a top floor room because I think it is quieter but I've only been to Pop one time so I can't really say that it is.

I also like 50's lakeside but I know lots like pool side too. And I know a lot of folks love the 70's too.

Thanks! I called and requested 50's and lakeside, so hopefully we'll get it. We haven't had problems with room request before, so I'm sure we'll be OK.

Am I ready it correct that is rained on May 10 - 13 last year?

We were there at the end of last May, and it was unbearably hot! And when we went back in September, it felt much better then! Honestly, we were sweating by 9am each morning in May! :scared:

Ok, I need some help:confused3 . Here is the background. Before DH and I had DS we always stayed at Values, All Star Sports and Music. Then after DS we went to POFQ, Wildernss, and AKL. I have loved them all, but unfortunately now have deluxe disease. This trip we have planned for May will be during my birthday and our anniversary so I booked AKL at AP rate $179 per nite. However, being the obsessive person that I am and hating to spend more then we have (and put on cc) I am thinking of switching to POP which will save us about $1000. So tell me what I will love about POP, the buses (which were always troublesome at All Stars), the food, the pools, etc. Will DS 2 like it? Will I like it or have buyers remorse? Not trying to sound like a snob, but I have gotten spoiled. Help me, I want to make the decision and settle things, and rearrange dining plans if necessary.

Thanks for the help!

we've done the deluxe thing and can't get out of the POP rut we are in we like it so much! we've been staying there since they opened and now we keep going back! haaah! we have even booked deluxes b4 and then switched to POP again! My kids love love love it! (DD is 2 DS is 1) they can't get enough of the POP jets, the kiddie pool, the playground! everything! they love to walk around and take pics with all the giant icons too! Esp. love to play Twister! haahah!

The foodcourt is GREAT! i like it better than POR & POFQ & CBR! We also love the bus system and the CMs are number 1 for us!!!

I understand how you feel. I used to stay at the Polynesian and concierge to boot for the "ease" of it. I got a really great discount code my first time there (45%+ off) and then I got scared to try anything else til the price just kept getting higher and higher. I really loved the Polynesian but I just can't pay those prices anymore. I was really worried about my first value stay but loved it. I'm going with a friend in May to Pop. In August it is cheaper for my family of 5 to stay at POR. And in all honesty my DH wouldn't like the values. He enjoys the lush landscaping at the moderates.

I think the bus service would be simular at AKL and Pop but the bus stop would be a bit closer when leaving the parks if you stayed at AKL.

At AKL you would have a coffee maker and fridge in the room but you could rent a fridge (or bring a cooler) and bring a coffee maker from home.

AKL would get you double sinks (I think?) but I don't see that as a big deal.

AKL would get you queen size beds instead of full.

AKL would get you interior doors and balcony.

AKL has a zero entry pool.

At Pop you'd get a great price. I know what it likes to come home with real buyer's remorse for spending too much on a room. Its hard enough to come home from a Disney trip. Coming home to a huge credit card bill makes it a lot worse! I always pay my credit card in full but it wasn't fun writing that huge check!

At Pop you'd get really fun icons that your DS would LOVE!

At Pop you'd get the Goofy Pop Jets that your DS would LOVE!

At Pop you'd get a great food court with frozen coke in the refill mugs.

At Pop you'd be able to stroll the grounds more than at AKL. If your DS got tired and cranky you could put him in his stroller and walk around the resort with him. At AKL the animals have free range and the people are fenced in-much less strolling around there.

At both resorts you'd have a very magical trip!

Hi, new to this thread. Probably going to POP in Sept. Had a ? about the building #s

Facing hippy dippy pool from classic hall are the 60s buildings. The room numbers to the one on the left are 5101-5472 and the one on the right are 4101-4472 so, would these be buildings 5 and 6?

I think I want to request to be in front of the goofy jets but not sure how to word it.

If anyone else has a good suggestion for us we will be 2 adults and one 23 month old traveling with friends that will also have a 23 month old. I want to be as close to the buses as possible. There is only the bus stop in front of classic hall, correct?

TIA!

We only decided to take a trip to WDW two weeks ago and it has been a whirlwind. We finally paid off all the credit cards after my husband was unemployed for over a year after 9/11 (he worked in NYC). It has been a long time since we could do "normal" family things like vacations - last year we rented a house with two other families in the Adirondacks and that was great.

Anyway, we never thought we would get to go to WDW but, with the value resorts, we realized we could do it.:cool1: I am so glad we chose Pop after reading all the reviews. We'll be there 4/22-4/28 and reserved a preferred room. One question I have is - would a lake view room on an upper floor be the quietest? If so, I will call and request it - I have already requested a non-smoking, not near any smoking rooms, room because of asthma. I really value my sleep and want to be able to take naps in the afternoon. Our kids are 12 and 9 so we don't need to be really close to the pool. What do you think?

We will be taking a taxi from the Kissimmee train station and my husband would like to stop to get some beer and wine on the way - what would be the best place to stop? We were planning to place a food/snack order from Amazon.com and have it shipped to the hotel - has anyone else done this?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated by this newbie!!!

Thanks:yay:

This will be our 3rd summer at POP. My kids love it and refuse to go to a deluxe, even if we wanted to spend the money. Because we save so much money we now go for a little longer than 2 weeks. For me, I'd rather stay longer in a value than longer in a Deluxe. POP feels like home to me!

Hello :)

We are staying in POP the first week in June. I have a question about the refrigerators for medical use - what are the requirements? My husband has type 1 diabetes and needs to keep insulin cool (doesn't have to be refrigerated but needs to stay below a certain temperature). I'm wondering if that would qualify for the refrigerator. What do you think?

If so, how do we get one? Is it the size of a regular mini-fridge?

Thanks!

Me again :)

My DH and I are taking our 3-year-old daughter to WDW in June... tell me why we will LOVE POP!! :)

Your 3 year old will love the bright colors, big icons and fun of the hotel. There is a goofy statue next to a car that has water that squirts - the kids love splashing through that. We love POP!! It just feels like home!
