Hi
We are off to pop for our 1st ever trip to wdw in Nov.
We are 2 children with us who may want drinks at night or 1st thing in morning. Do you think we need a fridge.

Thanks
Angie

I travel a lot and can't imagine not having a fridge in our room......I don't really want to have to get dressed just to go get breakfast....and if you have kids that want something in the middle of the night, well, DIsney isn't open 24/7 so you'd be at the mercy of whatever you have on hand.

I'm in a fridge swap.....you said you're going in Nveomber.......the first part of November is available in that swap...here's a link if you want to check it out.

Depending on how much they may want to drink, you could easily get by with the ice bucket. Every room has a small ice bucket that you can fill with ice at the end of the hall. This would be room enough for a couple of juice boxes on ice, or a couple of cans of apple juice or whatever. They would be kept plenty cold, and just replace the ice when needed.

You could also get one of those soft-sided collapsable coolers. Fill it with ice at night and put drinks or anything else you want to keep cold. Then you can pour out the water in the morning and repeat at night.

So while a fridge is a nice convenience at times, unless you can get in on a fridge swap, we don't find it worth the rental fee when the ice can keep a few drinks cold as needed. :thumbsup2

I was amazed at how many people were going to fill their coffee cups in their pijamas

We had a 5 day cooler (keeps ice for 5 days) it was ore than sufficient we didn't miss a fridge so a small cooler for drink would probably work for you.

Perhaps the reason for responding to a single post before reading the rest of the posts is the fear that you'll forget to comment on those of interest to you. I can completely relate to that as I sometimes have a couple of pages to read to catch up! So I'll take this opportunity to mention how to do the "multi-quote thing", because I know not everyone knows how to do that.....

Typically, you select the [ Quote ] button to respond. If you want to reply to several posts, instead of selecting [ Quote ], select the [ "+ ] button that is right beside [ Quote ]. That button will then turn an orange-red. If you decide for some reason that you no longer want to reply to an individual post (like maybe you see a question was already answered or you want to respond later with a picture included or something to that nature), then click on the [ "+] again, it will no longer be orange-red. Once you're ready to reply to all the posts you want to, then select [Post Reply] that is on the left-hand side of your screen and immediately below the last post on that page. It's a very handy dandy tool! Sometimes I get a little too multi-quote happy!

I had no clue how to multi quote. Trying it right now. Thanks. I always answer as I read, just for that fact, I can't remember all Iwant to say. LOL

If worse comes to worse disney will have your ressie in their computer I believe it's anywhere from a week to 4 days prior to your visit I don't quite remember but you could fax a request then or call the hotel directly and have them add it to your ressie then if your TA can't but my friend used triple a this past time and he was able to add requests thru triple A . I don't know if thats who your using but I know he did it through them! Hope this helps.

I beleive if you didn;t make your reservation directly with Disney, then the only one who can make changes is your TA. You can fax in request reminders, but it all should be in your origional reservation that the TA made, and I was told all changes have to go through them. Disney usually won't do it for you as you are not the one with the reservation, it's the TA.

Well, since I only wear a t-shirt and panties, I doubt you want me in my pjs, lol. Gotta say though, even if I wore real PJs I can't imagine walking around the resort in them....must be a weird-me thing.

Just got back from a week stay and I was extremly disappointed with Mousekeeping. The room hardly got cleaned and there was trash behind the bed side table [a lot of it!] from who knows when! There was also this huge sticky gross spot under the sink that could have been cleaned. Also we had 2 beds when we only needed one. I called to find out why we had two [I was under the impression we would have only 1] and they told us we couldn't have 1 bed and they only had those for handicapped people. That's a bit silly to me, why waste a bed on people who aren't going to be using it?

Anyway, we weren't really there enough for it to matter too much.

The reason that the king sized beds are in handicap accessible rooms is that there is much more room to maneuver in a room that only has one bed instead of two.

I don't really understand your comment about handicapped people not having a use for a king sized bed. They can do anything in a bed that you would be doing.

I think OP meant they were wasting a bed by having 2 in their room, 1 of which wasn't being used.

Yes that is what I meant. I just felt bad having a bed that wasn't being used =/

Almost all hotel rooms (in all WDW resorts) have some combo of full/full or queen/queen. King rooms are less available.

So no matter where you stay, you will usually get two beds. And the platform beds are permanent, so cannot be moved.

Re: mousekeeping - I always recommend complaining the first moment you know there is a problem, so bad mousekeepers don't keep getting away with it. (You may have done this, but I'm just mentioning it for others who are yet to go.)
Too many people wait until they get home to complain, either officially or to their friends, when nothing can be done.

We've had great mousekeepers at two different resorts, so I do believe the good outweigh the bad. I bet it was disappointing to get a bad one! :sad2:

Hope the rest of your trip was great! :wizard:

Aside from housekeeping how was the rest of your trip? I'm thinking of maybe switching to a mod.

We didn't stay at the hotel much but when we did it was okay. The rooms were kind of a let down and the staff wasn't too friendly. In fact a lot of the ones we talked too barely spoke English and were of little help to us.

Got back yesterday from 10 days at Pop! I really enjoyed it! We were pool facing in the 60's building and loved it! Dh did get awaken around 4am one morning by some teenagers playing chicken in the pool...The only complaint about Pop was there pillows are terrible (bring your own) and beds (wish you could bring your own) weren't so great. Are considering moderate just for this reason (it will be awile)$$$ DS in another room actually folded a towel to use as a pillow! I found the Mousekeeping adequate, and all the CM's on property very nice. DS6 fell off that very high bed and when I called down to request bedrails they were brought up right away. I know it's here somewhere, but I want to make sure.....DS had a medical problem (he's fine) and the front desk gave me Turner drugs number and the delivered the medcine for $5!! It was there the next morning. Loved my vacation!!

DD16 and I also returned from a 14 day stay at POP last week. We also loved our stay. Last year we stayed at a moderate POFQ and we enjoyed our stay at POP just as much. We were on the 4th floor of the 60's building (poolside) and had what we felt was a wonderful room. I loved being able to step out of my room and just look down and see everyone at the pool (including DD16 with boys she met).:lmao: I didn't find it extremely noisy. As a matter of fact, many times we would use the latch on the door to keep the door cracked open when in our room so we could hear people from the pool. To me, it added to the "vacation feel" when in our room. I would definitely return to POP whenever we stay at a Value resort.

I have to agree it was worth the one and only one "early morning wake-up" to be pool side. We were neighbors - I was 60's pool facing second floor! :wave2:

We were at Pop last month and actually had great pillows we were in 60's by the water jets. I was wondering if anyone else ever got the wake up calls? I requested one every day and was very disappointed. No Character's voices only a few bars of music and then nothing. In years past I've had Mickey, or Stich tell me to wake up and start my day. I even asked at the desk if this was a new policy and they didn't know. The next morning I actually got a whole line of music but still no voices... I missed them telling me get ready for a great time...

That's kind of disappointing! I was looking forward to the cute voices..well Stitch was more :scared1: in the morning than cute but still!
