The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

Hi,

I'm planning a trip for January and will probably be staying at the POP. I was wondering how successful people have been with room requests? I'm going to ask for a room between 2450-2460 as I believe these offer a view of some of Epcot's fireworks.

What are the chances of them honouring my request?

Sorry if this has already been asked, this is a massive thread and far too big to read all of it (though I'm trying!)
You might be more successful asking for a certain building, 4th floor, and lake side. If you just ask for a certain room number and they don't have it available, then they don't know why you wanted that particular room and won't be able to find a close substitute.

Does anyone know how long of a walk (mileage wise) it is along the Memory Lane? Would like to get a nice run in in the early AM before I start my day!

Thanks!!!

This may have been asked, but is there an ice maker on each floor in all of the buildings? We are going to go for 8 nights in May and are debating the merits of renting a fridge, using a cooler or buying a small fridge to use.:confused3 I'm not terribly interested in a swap because that just sounds like too much work.:rotfl2: We'll most likely either use a cooler or buy a little fridge since we can always use it later in our basement. The only problem is finding room for it in the car.

I once faxed a request for the same room we stayed in previously and we got the room right next to it! :thumbsup2 I worded the request for a specific building and floor, then added in () that we would love to have room #xxx if at all possible since that is where we stayed on our last visit and we absolutely loved it. Don't know if it was pixiedust: - or just a slow time. ;)

This link might help you. I'm fairly new to running and have been using info on this website to help plan my next trip in September. I'm running in the Expedition Everest Challenge (my first 5K)!

We have finally finished reading this entire thread. It has a lot of information; especially the first post (thanks Buckeye Gal). We will be there November 30 to December 7 and it will be our second trip to Pop. We have stayed at all levels of resort, but really like the food options at Pop better than the others. The first trip we stayed at the 70s building with the foolsball players in front - we had a lake view (2 doors from the end of the building) on the first floor and loved it. It was very quiet and peaceful. This year we are asking for a pool side view (preferred room) in the 50s section. We can't wait.

How exciting that you'll be at the World to see all the holiday decorations, too!

My HD and myself will be at the POP Dec 7th--14th with my daughter and son-inlaw with two grandsons 11 and 7. We are hoping to get the "50" building too. We were there in "06" as well. We like the fact that POP has it's own bus. I can't believe it's right around the corner.:santa:

If you ask when you check in, they have a little walk/run map. I"m not sure if it includes Memory Lane or just around the resort. I think it's only a mile route that they show you, though!

I agree with the poster above. We made a request at reservation time (who knows what happens at that time!) and then a week before our checkin, we requested 50's lakeside by fax and got it. We got to see the fireworks 3 times and it was really nice.

This is a great thread!!! We stayed at Pop last September and even though I always try to stay at a different resort each time, I am missing Pop!!!
We try to stay somewhere different because when you do it kind of seems like a different vacation, KWIM??? I'm afraid of it being too "the same" if that makes any sense. Although, we were in the 50's section and I really want to be in 60's or 70's this time.

If I decide to switch to Pop, do I just make my section request known with the person I talk to, fax something in, or both???

Do both! When you place your reservation, they'll make note of it. Then a week before you go, fax your request in writing to Pop Century directly. If you need a fax number, I have it in Post #1 just waiting for you!

Enjoy regardless of where you stay!!

Looks like we will be there the same time as you BuckeyeGirl, keep the lime green mickey heads out.

Sweet!! I know of others staying there the same time as us who will be on my Disney cruise following the stay at Pop and the World! Can you believe we are 48 days away?!!!! I've been counting down since T-511!! I hope you haven't had as long of wait!

POP is so cute during the holidays! We were at the Poly last early December and although Poly is one of our favorite resorts, we missed the POP decorations. Very festive, colorful and old-fashioned homey - if that makes sense!

Have a wonderful visit!!:santa:

Looks like there are a few of you guys that will be there during the same time as me....:cool1:

I will be at POP September 17 - September 29!!!!

Are any of you going to the DIS Pool Party on September 24??

I loved Pop when we stayed there in Dec 2006. The food court, the gift shop, the CMs, the buses, all of it was great! I'm excited to return in just 18 days for my solo trip!

I get in on the 24th. Depending on how long DME takes and how tired I am, I may stop by for a few minutes. Any idea how late everyone will be there?

Ha! I just looked at who posted this...you're my fridge swap connection, right?

We are going to be at Pop in 13 days :yay: We are staying in a standard room and I would like to request a room close to the main building. What buildings/floors should we request?
