A Greek Salad usually has feta cheese, sliced onions and black olives in addition to the lettuce. The dressing is oil & vinegar like. Never had Pop's version but a friend has and enjoyed it. Think it came with some pita bread or some type of bread. Hope that helps! :goodvibes

That's pretty much it! POP's Greek salad isn't quite as large as the other salads tho - more of a single serving. A lot of people aren't fond of feta, but I love it - gives ya some stinky breath tho so make sure DH eats some too! :goodvibes

Thank you both...that is what I assumed, but was not sure if Pop's version was different than a traditional Greek Salad. This will be a wonderful option on a hot Sept. day...I love Greek salad!!

We just went at the beginning of the month. Its awesome there, for the value you can't beat it.
As spoken "You made a great choice" I totally agree with that.

I must admit that I am a little bit nervous about staying at PC, as our only other trip to WDW was a stay at SSR last year. We booked 13nights/14days at PC (preferred, HA room) in September. We had to either choose a Value, or not go... so that choice was a "no brainer"! :rotfl:

I appreciate your post, it helps put our mind at ease! :goodvibes

As you were there recently, can you verify (from your experience) that the rooms are comfortable and clean? Comfy and clean... in the grand scheme of things isn't that all that we truly need our rooms to be? :)

I/we absolutely loved the layout, rooms, decor, eatery, CM's, ect... at SSR last year. :lovestruc We drove through the Value Resorts last year, and it was a toss-up between AS Movies and Pop Century (as to our favorite) and when it came time to choose a VR, our DS chose PC... he thought it looked fun! :woohoo:

I am hoping that choosing Pop Century (over AS Movies) was a good choice!

I love the shrimp lo mein noodles. They come in a take out wax box. Grab some soy sauce and a pair of chopsticks and you are good to go!!

The chicken ceasar salad is large and easily shared. If you are really hungry add a side of bread sticks. What you eat really depends on how hungry you are. If you are looking for something to tide you over to your ADR just share an entre. However, we found the meals this year to be smaller than they were last year. In the past we have always shared meals and this year we were not usually able to do it.

The flatbreads are really good. You could split one.

The salads are really nice and fresh (tho nothing really special). I like the Asian Chicken and the Greek. There's also a Chicken Caesar.

We're in the same situation - with dinner ressies at 4:55. But I know we'll be hungry at lunch time since we won't have eaten since very early morning. We'll either split a flatbread and a salad or maybe just have a dessert for lunch. :rolleyes1 Well, we're on vacation after all! :goodvibes

We love the chicken alfredo thingie with the pasta and breadstick. It's a large cutlet...perfect to share. I think three of us have even shared one order when we wanted just a little something to hold us over.

Thanks to everyone for all of your great suggestions! They all sound really yummy. I think my DH and I might end up eating more meals at Pop then we originally planned! It sounds like there are tons of great options! :thumbsup2

I think you'll enjoy POP. We've stayed at both and we were happy with both. I guess POP is a bit more fun because of the theme. Enjoy!:yay:

My DH &DS first trip was to the World was in May 2004 and we were lucky enough to be able to stay @The Wilderness Lodge! We absolutley loved the atomsphere! We've been back twice since then and have stayed @Pop both times...as much as we loved WL we couldn't justify the price...I was afraid my DH would be disappointed...but the price and convenience can't be beat! :yay:
I am a self proclaimed clean freak/germophob when it comes to hotel rooms and have found the facilities to be more than satisfactory! :thumbsup2

I can't remember what was on the cheese plate I think a couple of cheeses , crackers and grapes I remember and it cost $5 something and then I had dessert as well which I brought home for DD! Tyedye cheesecake !!

Yes very clean and comfy. The rooms, well our room, was clean. Housekeeping came in everyday if you choose. Bed linens were of a good quality. Towels also very good. Our room had a wall hairdryer, iron and ironing board, wall safe. We basically use our rooms to sleep and clean up. TV was on maybe an hour a day, to keep the kids busy while we got ready.

The facilities and grounds are kept up and clean.
We were in the 90's building the one closest to the buses, on the 4th floor. We are walkers so the stairs are not a big deal.

Ive stayed at both SSR and POP and what you have to remember SSR is Deluxe POP is Value ! If you don't expect POP to compare to SSR you will be fine! We had a great time at POP and also All Star Music! And we usually stay DVC! Which is either Beach Club Villas, Old Key West Resort or Saratoga Springs Resort for us ! And we had no problem making the transition and we actually had so much fun were going back to POP in August for FDP! We were debating between POP and ASMU but the kids really wanted POP! So POP it is! Can't wait! Under 30 days now!! School will be here before we know it! :thumbsup2

So many people are mentioning this fruit and cheese plate at Pop, does anyone have a picture of it?

I have stayed at both Pop and AS Movies, and I like Pop SO much better! Movies wasn't a bad experience, but Pop just feels like more fun! Not to mention that it is a bit brighter and newer than Movies. When we were at Pop in May this year, our room was very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was good, and the public areas appeared well-kept. I think your DS made a great choice! Have a fun trip! (Looks like you'll be there just a little bit after me!)

My thought exactly! Maybe she got one of the older lumpy mattresses? :confused3

thank you:goodvibes

take care ;)

Thanks everyone! :flower3: I appreciate all of you taking the time to reply! I am glad it seems to be clean and well-kept!

I know it looks like there will be a lot of photo-ops for me (I love to take pictures) at Pop! While I loved staying at SSR, we could not afford it this year... and I am OK with that (someday I will become a DVD member:idea: and can stay there then)! In the mean-time, Pop Century sounds pretty cool, I am glad we chose it and we are so excited!

Thanks again for your input! :flower3:

Man... planning a year-out, time crawls! :rotfl:

We just got an hour ago from 3 night at Pop. We were also there 4 weeks ago for 5 night. Both times we stayed in a Handicapp accessible room with king bed.

Now the one 4 weeks ago was a preferred with "roll in" shower. Really nice. Plenty of room since it was a king bedd and not 2 doubles. So that made for extra space. Nice and close to CLassic Hall.

This time we had the standard king handicapp. But no roll in shower. So the room itself was even bigger. The roll in shower/bathroom takes up more floor space. So gobbs of extra room this time. But what a way to walk to Classic Hall. Wasn't crazy about that. yes, I'm lazy! LOL!

Yes, the rooms are kept very nice and clean. While we were there this weekend, we noticed they were putting new bedding in. Lots of Sealy Trailers in our parking lot.

I really think you will love Pop. We are going back in september for my birthday and the "pin event". We can't wait.

Blessings,
Winnie

Winnie,
Good to hear that you saw the Sealy trailers. I've read several complaints lately about the mattresses - enough to make me think that maybe some of them needed to be replaced. Glad that that's taken care of! :)

For sure! Funny thing is, our mattress this weekend was not so great. Not only was it hard as a rock for the most part, with a bit of a sag in the middle. But it had the most awful squeaky noise when I got in and out of bed. I mean it was really bad. So hopefully it will be one of those replaced. Although I think the bed frame is what was "sqeaking". If it wasn't so annoying it might have been hilarious!:lmao:

Hi! I think I remember reading a few years ago about how you could over ride the air conditioning unit and keep your room cooler. Could someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks,

We had free range on our thermostat. We were able to low and high the temp. with no problem.
We're not AC people, so we used it very little. Well, we maintained a comfortable temp. for us.

I read somewhere that there is something you can do to the thermostat. Just can't remember, sorry. But a quick fix is to buy a balloon and allow it to bouce around so the sensor thinks someone is in the room and it will be cooler when you return. In other words it won't shut off as much.

Blessings,
Winnie

I don't think our AC was on any type of sensor system in May. We set it at 72 degrees and that's exactly the temp it maintained...no balloon required for us!
