Christmas Special Events Thread

This was in a post today on W D W N T about events at Disneyland for the holidays:
“Also at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will be the Holiday Tea with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Hearthstone Lounge.”
I don’t think it’s accurate, though - still haven’t seen anything official about it.

The Candy Cane distribution schedule is on the Merchandise Events section of the Disneyland website. Although can't remember the exact dates from last year, it seems that they are selling them earlier this year. And it sounds like no VQ this year.

Edit to add the exact wording.

Candy Canes at the Disneyland Resort
Handcrafted candy canes have been a Disneyland holiday tradition since 1968. Our candy makers are making a limited batch of 18-inch, red-and-white swirled canes this season, available at 2 locations on select dates. In-person purchase is required.

Is there a reason they can't make them every day all day?

Like are the resources hard to get?

I've never understood why they can't just make the Candy Canes all day....I bet they would still sell out

I always assumed they were labor intensive.
They are EXTREMELY labor intensive and takes a very long time. We watched the process a couple of years ago, off and on. I'm guessing they wouldn't be able to make other things people love if they devoted so much time to candy canes every day. They're very interesting to watch being made and it's fun to "score" a candy cane (cue FOMO), but honestly they pretty much taste like any other candy cane to me. It would also be quite a challenge to eat a whole one. Does make for a nice photo op when you put 2 of them together to make a heart

Can anyone give me a detailed play-by-play about how this works with wristbands at the DCA Trolley Treats locations specifically? We will have early park entry as hotel guests but I don't think that will matter, as Buena Vista Street will be open to all.

For example, do we enter at 7:30am, line up outside, wait for 8am or so for the wristband distribution, then return at a later point with your wristband on to pick up and pay for the candy canes?

I think the wrist bands are new this year. For other merchandise events (ex. jewelry trunk shows), they have a CM in front of the store handing out wrist bands with return times printed on them. You pick up your wrist band, go on your way, and come back at the time indicated to make your purchase.

They’ve definitely done the wrist bands in the past because I’ve seen pictures of them

I have yet to try one. This will only be my 3rd Christmas season going to Disneyland. This time and last I’ve been too early in mid November.
The first time was December but I didn’t know about them

We didn't purchase candy canes last year so maybe they did wristbands then. The year before, you gave your cell to a CM who typed it into a tablet and then texted you to come back when it was your turn to purchase.
