A tip on the bottles: it does help if they're labeled. I have a perfume that's 1.7oz, but the bottle is shaped funny, so it looks like a lot more. I'd say 9/10 times it goes through security it gets pulled and they check the bottom for the # of ounces. So if it's borderline, I have seen them check. And if it helps momfor2kids, if you're talking Rochester, NY...that's where I fly from!

For sunscreen, it helps to have family in FL you're meeting up with ;) My brother is meeting me for my trip in August and I told him that his job is to bring the ponchos that we have from our past year's trips and sunscreen. Hopefully he can handle that!! :lmao:

Okay success  - I found the clear bottles to put sunscreen in at Wegman's here in Rochester, NY so I am all set. They had a set of 4 and they are clearly marked on the bottom as 3 oz. so HOPEFULLY Air Tran will not have a problem with that.

Also to the fellow Rochesterian we are going to the POP for the 1st time in August too - Aug. 19- Aug. 25.

Thank you all for the advice - who knew flying would be this much of a pain.

I am not from NY but have family in Wappinger Falls and will be at pop from 8/21-8/29. Have a good flight... and we will be two ships that pass in the night!

We are seriously considering staying at POP. We have only stayed at a moderate POR, but my parents stayed at ASMu and they looked fine to us, having been renovated. We are trying to decide between ASMu and POP. Pop seems like it would be more fun for us and our 5yo.:goodvibes

Ok, so I'm not from Rochester, but I am from NY!! And we are also staying at POP Aug 19-25th!!

We are flying Jet Blue out of Stewart, maybe we will pass in the lobby!

On Monday I sent a fax to Pop with our room Request, I noticed Yesterday a charge from POP on my Bank account (card is on file for room) The fax is the only thing I could think of that they would charge me for... It was only $1.25 so not a big deal I was just shocked that I was charged.... Has this happen to any one else???? :confused3

I'm wondering if it's some kind of "verifying your card is valid" thing. Did you list a credit card initially when you booked for all your "incidental" expenses? I know my reservation shows I did and I think shortly before your visit, they may check to make sure it's valid before you check in so they can ask you for a different one if not. I'm guessing it had nothing to do with your room request. I know we've stayed places that told us they did this, but can't remember if they refunded it quickly, or when you were there, or at all! :confused3

That would be my guess, as well.

wow I have never heard of that. Is it legal? You haven't asked or signed anything giving them permission to charge your card. If they need to know if the card is valid maybe they should just call up the credit card company and see.

I believe that if you use a credit card the charge is not actually "charged", just that money is "reserved" until check-out and the actually amount is processed. However, if you use a debit card they might actually make the charge and then refund the difference.

I used to work in hotels and that was how it was done a few years ago, assume it is the still the same...

You may well have granted them permission if you read all the fine print in all the reservation info. If you didn't give list a credit card for incidentals when you booked, then I might be more questioning. However, as I said before, we've had places tell us they make a "nominal" charge to ensure the charge is valid. $1.25 sounds nominal. I can't remember where exactly I've seen this but am thinking it may have been on a cruise line.

I have read that the water supply is not all that strong coming out of the faucets. How do you wash out the refillable mugs? Is there a place at the food court to wash them? My DH tells me I worry about the silliest things!

I have never had a flow issue in my sink, but the beverage bar has sinks, 2 each I think, where you can wash. They are motion activated, and were pretty hot last year

Yes there are mug washing sinks at the Foodcourt!!!:thumbsup2
I was gonna say people wash them in the :lmao:pool:rotfl2: But that would have beeen mean!!!:) The sink in the room is a standard bathroom type sink so the foodcourt ones are much better !!

I know about the verify fee and last week when I did the online check in I was charged the $1 verify fee (and yes you usally get this refunded back to the card within a couple days).. The only other thing I did was send in the fax on Monday...
Maybe if I was charged for the room request that is a sign that I got the room I wanted :rotfl: I will see tomorrow at check in :cool1::banana:

Good luck on getting the room you want and have a great time!

I was going to say, why not wash the mug out in the tub? Well, using that faucet at least? I know we've rinsed out coolers there. You'd have a stronger flow and more room (I'm not sure the mug would fit under the sink faucet, although I think the mug designs are different these days).

I'm pretty sure everything that is brought on board must be in their original containers. I could be wrong, though.
