I've got great news that I just want to tell everyone I meet - my little chihuahua, who was diagnosed with cancer in March, considered too high of a risk for radiation treatment (she had a stroke during a CT scan due to anesthesia and they have to go under for every treatment) and given two weeks for me to spend with her before they highly recommended euthanasia, is snoozing happily and comfortably on my lap right now. Against the odds, I proceeded with radiation despite the risk because I knew she'd want to at least go out fighting. But she decided to fight and stick around instead. She's doing GREAT!! I had barely had her for a year; she was a rescue that helped heal me from the loss of my GSD (who also died from cancer). But my little cancer-kicker has surprised absolutely everyone. The treatment was considered palliative, meaning that it was just to make her comfortable and maybe slightly extend her life, but she's rocking on like nobody's business. I'm very happy.
