This world is so full of hate and anger and that's all you ever see or hear about in the media. The good things get pushed to the side because they don't rack in the ratings. So every day, I'm going to make an attempt to find at least one good news story to post here. Hopefully it will brighten someone's gloomy day, or possibly even restore someone's hope in humanity.

We're going to start with this one.

This story has made my heart warm.

I am not sure how I missed this thread until now but what a great idea! I will be sure to share anything good that I come across too.

Thanks :D

It's amazing how quickly good news will get passed over and sent straight to the back of the line. But take a minute to look at the thread on Charlotte, it keeps growing and rather quickly. I live an hour north of Charlotte and haven't even read a thing about the shooting because that's all the media wants to shove in people's faces; negative, controversial, stories.

Oh, I know. I put up a thread called 'what made you smile today' and it was quickly buried. Even threads that don't start as something negative turn into an argument and it just gets so old.

Old good news. In both London and New York, there are hairdressers who cut and style the hair of homeless people for free, just because they can. I'll try and dig up the articles when I'm on my laptop.

I got an A on my second bio test quiz after doing poorly on the first... AND I now have the first 40 elements of the Periodic Table memorized(science is not my thing)!

I don't know if that's the good news you're looking for but I am HAPPY!

That's a hard task to do! Congrats!

We have a guy here in NC that closes his shop to the general public on Sundays and gives the homeless haircuts for free from noon until 3pm. It's hard to explain how something as simple as a haircut can mean the world to someone, but people line up for haircuts every Sunday and even stay and help him clean the shop.

One from Melbourne, even though the council has recently been an *** about it and issued parking fines :sad2:

This is out right awesome. I've been wanting to convert a bus to a camper for a while now, maybe this might be what I actually end up doing.

I didn't get a chance to part and article today but you guys took care of it for me :)

My sister in law went into labor at 7am this morning and at 158pm, my nephew came into this world.

Congrats on your new nephew. That's some pretty good and special news :goodvibes

I've been trying to figure out how to post an article about a young man in Indiana helping an elderly woman get on an escalator at the Glenbrook Mall. It happened back around September 3rd. She was afraid to get on and he helped her and held her hand the whole way down. Very sweet.

I don't know if this falls into this category, but (as long as nothing bad happens between now and then) as of March 4th I will be debt free other than my car payment. Student loans, etc all paid off (including some major mistakes with credit cards in my low 20's).

The feeling is amazing!

Teenager holds hand of scared elderly woman to help her down escalator

Carma Greathouse was with her granddaughter Leah Kerr and her two children shopping in Fort Wayne, Indiana when she had to use the escalator.

But Leah, who was distracted by her two daughters, didn’t realised that her grandma was too terrified to get on it.

Writing on Facebook, Leah wrote: ‘I felt horrible as I watched her try again and again to get her footing right. People walked around her, pushed by her or asked her to step to the side.’

That’s when 19-year-old Alujwyon Lowery came to the rescue.

The young man stepped in and helped the elderly woman on to the escalator at Glenbrook Mall.

But he didn’t stop there – he held her hand the entire way down and helped her off.

‘So I did and I got on and he held my hand all the way down the elevator. He was a very nice man.’

The picture of the teen helping Carma has since gone viral with more than 7,800 likes on Facebook.

YES, love a thread like this.

My youngest turned 20 yesterday. Today she went for training at her brand new volunteer job at her college, working in the women's center in the PR dept.

My oldest is doing well too after struggling with issues at her work.

I am pretty happy today.

My older daughter called to let me know their dog passed the temperament testing and is now certified as a therapy dog, already scheduled to visit pediatric cancer patients. He's an awesome, funny, loving dog, and I think he'll be a bright spot for some special children who deserve all the bright spots we can give them.
