The Genius Things to Pack

  • Clothes pins. To hang wet swim suits on the line above the shower. Also to hold curtains closed to block the morning sun
  • Glow stick. Great for parties and make awesome night lights. The bathrooms are super dark at night
  • Collapsible boxes to put on the desk to collect odds and ends. These fold pretty flat for packing and snap together to make a box.
  • Pre-made envelopes for room service tips. I stuff them w/ a couple of dollars each at home so they are ready to go once on the ship.
  • Magnets to decorate the door. Makes your door easier to find.
  • Highlighters to mark what on the Personal Navigators what all you want to do.
  • Pack 1/2 the clothes you think you will wear and twice the money you think you will spend.
Haha I love the last suggestion. So true!

So even when just ordering say a cookie, you tip at least $5? We may have to skip room service.

I do a dollar per item up to $5 for a full service for 3 people. I think I gave 6 or 7 when when we ordered a ton after our excursion to Disney last year and the waiter was VERY grateful.

We bring several space bags to put dirty clothes in. When one fills we press out the air and throw it in a designated suitcase. Then we open a new bag and repeat the process. This cuts down on packing the last night and keeps all the dirty and smelly clothes contained in one or two suitcases. When we get home, the suitcase(s) with the dirty clothes is/are deposited directly in the laundry room.

I added another toiletry style bag to our mix with travel essentials: laundry pods and dryer sheets, small thermometer and routine meds (fever, etc), travel pack of Clorox wipes, and the Bownty paper towels with Dawn built in.

Also: wrinkle release spray, extra clips for hanging towels and swimsuits, magnetic hooks/clips for lanyards and such

Lights is another...we’ve done cheap tea lights and book lights in the bathrooms, although next trip I’ll take a decent nightlight. I also found some flat magnetic flashlights at the Dollar Tree that were great to stick on the door.

I forgot to include - a small tube of super glue. Gel type is nice. Put it in a zip lock, roll it up and secure it with a rubber band. You know why...

Should you need some super glue while on the cruise, stop by guest services. They may have some to loan you. Don't be that person that doesn't bring it back. That way it will be there tomorrow night when you need it again.

I had a strap pull off on the back of a shoe. Unfortunately, I had made a conscious decision to leave the super glue at home. The nice people at Guest Services opened up a new package for me. Here's another use for those clothes pins and binder clips - holding the strap to the shoe after you glue it. The next day, thinking I had repaired the shoe, I returned the super glue to Guest Services. I proudly presented them the glue and mentioned I was the guy that actually brought back the super glue. Later that day I realized the strap did not hold, so back to Guest Services. The following day I got to tell them I was the guy that brought the glue back twice.

So even when just ordering say a cookie, you tip at least $5? We may have to skip room service.

The pp may have a minimum of $5 but I don't think that's standard when you are just ordering an item or two (that's why a lot of people indicate they tip $1/item from room service). It's not like the room service guy is walking all over the ship to deliver your one cookie, he probably has a couple deliveries to make. We usually use a Maximum of $5 per room service order (we order a couple meals and maybe dessert; but nothing overboard). I look at it this way, your dining room server is standardly tipped $4.50 (think that may have just increased) per night and they serve you a lot more than the room service guy so a maximum room service tip of $5 per trip seems generous to me.

I always pack half my clothes in one suitcase and half in the other, just in case one gets delayed.
Ohhhhhhh smart! And if you aren’t a gifted packer (I’m not) check out Pinterest for mini capsule outfits to pack for a cruise.

My first time on board, I took the USB extra outlet charger to charge multiple phones. Have a great cruise!

Laundry detergent pods, small baggie of laundry powder (if you need to wash undies in the room)
Sun relief gel (put it into the fridge in the room and it will be lovely and cold if/when you need it)
String bags or small crossbody bags to hold phone/wave phone/stuff; my kids do not take theirs off during the day
Multiport USB charger
Water bottles to fill before you go on excursions
Is a wave phone, waterproof?

Not my picture, but one I found on the internet of the Wave Phones. There will be 2 in your stateroom.
