The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Hey...watch yourself there rebel. :lmao:

Heading out into the sustained 20 mph wind. Wish me luck on this bike ride today. I don't think I'll be able to do 12 in this weather. Maybe 8???

:goodvibes

Hey Amy...

Good luck on that bike ride today.

Nah, no battle with my girl!

I hope your bike ride went well today. Be safe, my friend. :upsidedow

Hey Amy--Glad to hear you are keeping up with your training while on vacation! Sorry to hear about the fall on the bike--yikes! Take care of that, and hope your leg is feeling better! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

You're doing AWESOME as usual, Amy!

Hope you have a great, injury free rest of your vacation!

Hi guys...thanks so much for stopping in!!! It's so nice to see you Julie! I'll have to make my way over to your journal and catch up. Hope your vacation was awesome :sunny:.

OK...so yesterday I did manage to bike 11.3 miles...half of which was into that awful wind. Overall MPH was something around 13 mph but let me tell you what a struggle that was. It was like riding up hill for 5 miles LOL! Good workout though...had jello legs when I got home :). I managed to do a nice quick pilates workout as well...trying to keep up with my training! Managed to get that HR up a bit yesterday too during the ride. I think I averaged it out at 138 or something like that.

Today I ran a 4 mile tempo run in 43:00. Did the first mile easy peasy lemon squeezie at a nice 11:30 mpm. Then I ran two miles a little faster at a 9:30 and a 10:00 (not exact splits but close). My legs were dog tired from the biking yesterday LOL...lost a bit of my oomph on that 3rd mile. The final mile was slow and easy again...came in around 11:20 or something. I know my math is messed up LOL...but that's approximately what I did. HR was pretty high due to the faster miles at 171 avg. My tempo runs should look a bit more like 11:00/9:30/9:30/11:00. That's the goal. We'll see what happens next week :). I still plan to do some pilates later on and possibly an easy bike ride (but my legs may have something to say about that).

Sooo...last day at the beach. Last day for flat land to train on :(. Oh well...hills are my friend...right Scott???

have a great weekend everyone!!!

Reading about your "vacation" makes me tired! Truthfully, I'm envious. I'd like a vacation with that much time to spend running. A week at WDW put miles on my legs, but not much help. I'm amazed at all you've managed to do! Enjoy the last day, and get ready for hills!

Ran a race on the 4th that appeared to be all uphill - thought I was used to hills, but have discovered muscles that I didn't know were there. I guess you can never do too much hill work...

Hey Amy--Hope you are enjoying your last day at the beach!! Weather is supposed to be quite warm this weekend. Your workouts have been great!

I guess it is back to the real world next week!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a great weekend :)

Yesterday I drove home from the beach...was pretty tired out for some reason so decided to give myself a rest day in preparation for my Long Run :).

Today I headed out to the running trail...and decided to try a NEW running plan LOL. Seems I have a new one each week. But honestly I'm just playing around with different concepts to see what fits my style best!

Did 6 Miles....Ran each Mile then did a much needed water break and walk after the mile. Walked anywhere from 30 sec. to 60 sec. each time. Completed the run in a 42:16 (I think). HR was high at 173 avg BUT with the humidity it's to be expected AND it's early, for some reason my HR is always higher when I run in the morning. It felt pretty good. It was a little faster than I planned...wanted to hit solid 11 mpms. But I'm trying to figure out the pace with the walk breaks. I'm happy with this run... I KNOW...shocking. It wasn't going to set any land speed records for sure BUT...I had a lot left in the tank at the end and ran my fastest mile in MILE 6! So right there it tells me I did a pretty good job :).

After the run I came home and did my pilates and another good stretch. Legs are actually feeling ok tonight :). Then I went to watch my daughter's 10U Softball team win the NJ State Championships!!!! :woohoo: VERY excited for them. Guess we're off to the regionals at the end of the month. They've had a successful year...so she is on :cloud9:.

Thanks for stopping by!

Congrats to your daughter and family for the NJ State Championship!!! Way to go!! You must be so proud of her :)

And Congrats to you for a SUCCESSFUL run!! Nice to hear you upbeat and injury free after a long run! Sounds like this plan is going to work for you :)

Great job with everything Amy...things are really going well for you at the moment. I'm super proud of you.

Hey Amy--Congrats on a great time!! From the looks of that time, you must have been flying!! Keep up the good work!

That is so awesome that your DD's team won the state champs!! I can imagine how proud you are of her!! Would love to hear how the regionals go--keep us updated!!

OMG!!!! ROFL :rotfl: 6 miles in 42:16. NO NO NO. TYPO. And YES Laurie...i would have been flying for sure. Never ran THAT fast in my entire life LOL!

OK...actual time of my run TODAY...6 miles in 62:16. ROFL. 10:20 ish mpm average. OH MY. Glad I caught that. Not trying to dupe my friends. But thanks Laurie for even imagining that I could have done that LOL! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

LOL!!! I totally missed that when I read it....too funny

Congrats to your DD and way to go on your training, Amy!:cheer2: You are doing an awesome job! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Hey Amy-Just dropping in to see how your training is going. Hope your workouts are going well, and you are surviving this awful heat we are having this week.

Hi guys...just a quick update on my training for last week.

Monday was a rest day...and I happened to notice some pain on the top of my right foot. I had this issue around this time last year, so I laced my right sneaker differently to take some pressure off the top of my foot. I hoped the rest day would help to heal it so I could run on tuesday.

Tuesday was supposed to be a run but a combination of extreme heat (90+ temps and humidity) and pain in the right foot prompted me to do an indoor workout instead. I did 30 minutes on the ski machine and a pilates class :).

On Wednesday I decided to XT again along with another session of Pilates. I did another 30 minutes on the ski machine, but this time I set the resistence higher and went faster. Had a really good workout!

Thursday, FINALLY the heat and humidity broke. I put on the running shoes and was hopeful I'd be able to complete my 4 mile tempo run. There wasn't any pain while running so I did .5 miles warm-up at a comfortable pace followed by 2.5 miles at a tempo pace (around 9:45 ) and then the final mile was at a slower pace again. In addition, I went to Pilates Circuit in the evening :).

Friday....rested from cardio but did a 60 minute Pilates circuit class.

Saturday: Pilates circuit class in the morning followed by a 6 mile run! :thumbsup2 Pace was somewhere around 10:45 mpm overall.

Today I'm resting up and will begin again tomorrow with a nice bike ride.

Thanks for stopping by. :goodvibes

Hey girl! You've been kickin' some serious butt with your training. :woohoo:
Great job slowing down when you were feelin' some pain, but I'm so glad you're all better now!

Fantastic week of training there Amy!!! Way to go!!

Hey Amy--sounds like you had a great week of training last week!!!!!

Smart move to take it easy when you were feeling the foot pain. I have actually had some problems with tying my shoes too tightly, I have to make sure i don't tie them to tightly or else my foot falls asleep while running.

Not sure I am going to be able to do the Westfield run next week, I have a dinner for work so I don't think I am going to be able to make it down there. Oh well! Good Luck if you run!!
