The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

:grouphug: THANKS girls!!! I appreciate your support and confidence! Well...my training is officially over for this level of pilates...it's just the beginning step of a much longer journey! But I learned so much over the course of the training and really REALLY found myself MILES away from my comfort zone! I feel like things went as well as could be expected and I'm very hopeful that I'll received my PASS certification letter :goodvibes . I'll keep you all posted!

Jackie!!!! It's so nice to see you posting here in my journal :). YES...I'm back on track and trying to post more to keep updated with my training for Goofy . WHAT was I thinking when I registered for that LOL! I'm sorry I've fallen out of the habit of posting on the events thread, I find it so difficult to keep up with it these days but I check regularly to see how all the WISH crew are doing. As training ramps up I'll need to post for support over there. After my injury I really went through a rough few months lol...just trying to make it WDW. I really appreciate that you came here and posted...what a great surprise! Congrats to you on your running as well..I love your picture :).

Now to training:

Tuesday: Pilates Mat Class and 4 Mile Run (stayed true with my 11:30 training pace)

Wednesday: Rest Day (getting ready for the big training)

Thursday: Rest Day

Friday: TERRIBLE run...my legs were cramping and everything just felt bad. Only made it 2.5 miles. Some days you just KNOW when to say NO to a run! Pilates Training

Saturday: Pilates ALL DAY

Sunday: Pilates ALL DAY

Monday: Rest Day

That's it for training....back to a normal week of workouts starting with my run tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by :sunny:

Hi Amy

There is a lot to be said for stepping out of your comfort zone. While I know you know the pilates moves (you do them so much!), I bet it's a whole different world trying to teach those moves to a class...and then to have to go through a certificiation where I'm sure you had to teach the moves to other instructors...that's stepping away from said comfort zone for sure! Great job Amy with getting out there and pursuing a goal, once again your dedication and determination show through. I'm really pulling for you to pass that course. I KNOW you have the ability to be an instructor :) And isn't there a quote out there somewhere about not really living unless you step out of your comfort zone every day? ;)

Sorry about the run on Friday, but I'm sure it was a combo of doing so many workouts leading up to the certification along with maybe being a little nervous about going to class that day? Shake it off though...everyone has very tough runs....it's nice to see you right back in the routine again starting tomorrow. Good Job Amy.

Be proud of a successful week and weekend!! I hope this week treats you good.

Hey Amy--glad to hear training is going well for you. Don't worry about that one bad run, we all have them once in awhile..I know that all too well!!! I hope the Pilates Certification went well....I am sure you did AWESOME!!!

Keep up the good work!

Hey Amy. Hope all is going well with you and your training. :thumbsup2

Good luck with all of the certification stuff. You'll ROCK it just like you ROCK your training!

Have a wonderful weekend. And thanks......for everything.

Thanks for checking in Scott, Kim and Laurie :grouphug: .

Let's see....I've got some perspective on the Pilates training now that I've been away from it for a few days. What an awesome experience it was. I really love the practice...and I firmly believe in what it can do for a person. I registered for a trade show/conference that's coming up and I'm planning to take a bunch of seminars and classes. Also hoping to start teaching some classes come September :).

On to the marathon training!

Tues: Well...it was blazing hot and humid and I had no opportunity to run in the morning. I did manage to get to my Pilates apparatus class which was awesome. Finally got my run in ....but it was LATE at night. Didn't finish up until nearly 10:30 PM!!! I put on a head lamp...Yes....very embarassing....except I wore it around my waist :lmao: which is slightly less embarassing. Anyway, did 3 miles instead of 4 just b/c it was kind of freaky running in the dark without any street lights or sidewalks. It was kind of peaceful...but still one of those things I don't plan to do very often ;).

Wed: Pilates Class :). My hip was VERY sore from running late and not stretching properly. So I decided to pass on additional cardio.

Thurs: 4 Mile Tempo Run (ran 1 mile at comfortable pace, 2 miles at a speedier pace which averaged around a 9:30 mpm, and 1 final mile at comfortable pace). It was wickedly hot and humid. Unfortunately I had to get the run in and the ONLY time I could do it was 11 am. Horrible time to run...but knowing bad storms were looming forced me to get out there earlier than I'd like. And sleepy kids (who couldn't get out of bed) were the reason I didn't run early  . My HR was SOOO high...I think I avg. 174 or something awful like that. But the humidity really makes it tough. Later I did an hour of pilates on my own :).

I will be going to the beach for a week starting on Saturday. Will bring my shiny NEW bike :rolleyes1 . Yep....got myself one LOL! And of course I'll do my runs while I'm on vacation. I think I'll be able to check in since they have wireless at the house I'm renting.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Amy

(not jealous of the bike...not jealous of the bike...not jeal)

So how are you doing these days??

First, way to go with that Pilates cert training! You are so knowledgeable about fitness, nutrition and body mechanics...you are gonna make a great instructor soon. Let me know when your studio opens, I may need some assistance with the running form or the golf swing or something!

Second, nice job with the runs!! Ok, I have to admit...the image of you with the running lamp on your head (or waist for that matter) could be slightly humorous :) But I have to say it shows a major amount of dedication and for that I give you major props. Way to go!!!

Finally, have a great time at the beach!! Gonna take that new bike with you?? (not jealous of the bike...not jealous of the bike) And I'm assuming that you are gonna continue training while you are over there...must be nice, running along the ocean, cool breeze in the hair, warm smell of shrimp on the grill, booze in the blender ready to render frozen concotions...hey, aren't you the one to blame? ;)

Anyway, have a great vacation, you deserve it. Give us a full trip report when you return (WITH PICS) :)

bye!

Amy - Be careful with those night runs! I'm assuming you're in a safe area? No way will I run after dark! But that's dedication to use the head lamp and get the miles in - I admire you for that!

And 11am? You have to get a better schedule. I did a couple of runs at 5 and 6pm, and the humidity almost killed me. I even asked my doctor if there was something wrong with me since I couldn't breathe - he told me to get used to it, it was just the air here.

Have a great time at the beach!

Jackie

Can't believe I'm at a desk in downtown Atlanta and you are sipping a drink on a beach with your toes in the ocean right now.

Ugh.

Not jealous.

LOL!

Hope you are having a GREAT vacation!! Was thinking about you and wanted to wish you the best this week. Hope all is well with your world.

Hey vacation girl! :dance3: Have a great time at the beach! Are you in south Jersey?? If so, give me a call and we can meet up! :thumbsup2

Way to go with the runs! Hot weather, dark conditions.....MAN you're somethin' else! :worship:

How cool that you got a bike. And I'm glad Scott isn't jealous. That could put a damper on your friendship. :rolleyes1

I agree with him though....we must see some pics when you get home!:goodvibes

Hey Amy--I hope you are enjoying your vacation at the beach!!! Are you at the Jersey Shore?? Should be a nice week, not too hot.

WTG for getting out there last week in the heat and humidity we had, I don't know how you do it!

That's awesome that you signed up for a trade show to learn more about pilates. I always try to get to 2-3 conferences a year for physical education. I always come home with new ideas and a refreshed attitude towards teaching! Have fun with that!

Enjoy the week!!

 Hi guys!!!

Once again...thanks so much for the support and encouragement. It's so great to see you guys posting and reading my journal. Helps to keep me accountable :goodvibes .

Yes...Laurie and Kim (my fellow Jersey Girls!!!)....I'm at the beach in the beautiful New Jersey shore. I am writing this from lovely Long Beach Island where the weather has been simply outstanding the last few days!!! The water is crystal clear and the sky has been cloudless for days. Can't ask for better weather!! :sunny:

Although I'm on vacation I have managed to keep up with my training so allow me to update since last I posted:

Friday: Hour pilates at the studio. Was a fun private class with one of my mentors :).

Saturday: 30 minute bike ride with my new clipless pedals. Didn't fall! Got my HR up a bit and did a solid 8 mile trek. Nice pace for me on the bike. Gotta' LOVE the flat Jersey shore ;).

Sunday: 6 Mile run (slow...and steady)....Pilates (20 minutes).....40 minute bike ride. I just about killed myself as I couldn't clip out of my pedals fast enough as I hit a pot hole at an intersection. Totally BIT it on the pavement and landed square on my left hip and shoulder, meanwhile digging the cr@p out of my right leg on the sprocket. UGH. The worst part of all....scratching up my pretty new bike :sad2: . Oh well...every single Roadie (road bike rider) has to have one classic kodak moment while trying to get used to the clipless pedals. For those new to biking...this is when you are literally snapped into your pedals and need to make a special motion with your foot to unclip them. It's an art form, slightly dangerous, but ultimately the best way to ride if you are serious about cycling. I'll admit that I felt slightly cool riding the 4 miles back to the house with blood dripping down my leg and white paint permanently embedded in my bike shorts from the paint line on the road. :lmao: I've been inducted...I'm officially a road warrior! :thumbsup2

Monday: 20 minutes of easy pilates. Today is a rest day (and boy do I need it). My body...slightly bruised (but not as bruised as my ego) was still recovering from the intersection fall on my bike yesterday. Everything hurt...but got better as the day progressed!

Upcoming training plans:

Tues: 15 miles on the bike, pilates

Wed: 4 Mile easy recovery run, pilates, easy bike ride

Thurs: 15 miles on the bike, pilates

Fri: 4 Mile Tempo run (feel the need for speed?), easy bike ride, pilates

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a fun and safe July 4th Holiday!!!!

Yikes Amy! How is your leg feeling today? Hope it's feeling much better.:goodvibes

You are doing an amazing job with your training, especially with the heat and humidity and with being on vacation. Wonderful job!:cheer2:

Enjoy the rest of your vacation at the Jersey shore and have a safe and Happy 4th!

Hi Amy

Welcome to the Road Warrior club!! Wait....I'm not in it yet (and may not want to be...deep cuts...blood...:scared: Yikes! Do they have a Road Warrior Jr. membership?)

It's great to read that about your fall, especially since I'm headed out this afternoon to get shoes to go with my CLIPLESS PEDALS :scared: What have you gotten us into now?? Is this retaliation for the whole Goofy thing?

Actually, I'm glad you aren't badly hurt. Road biking can be a dangerous venture with all of the cars out there who aren't paying attention to us Roadies. Please be careful.

Congrats on getting so much exercise in while chilling at the shore (spoken like a NJ person...shore...not beach...;) ) I'm concerned that you may have too much going on there this week...biking and pilates every day, plus running every other day? Listen to the body for signs of over training or injury...don't push yourself too much...besides isn't vacation supposed to be relaxing? Wait...what IS a vacation? Maybe the rules have changed since I've been on one. :confused3 (NOT a jealous statement at all)

Anyway, keep up the great work...have a great week and a wonderful July 4th celebration.

Just thinking about you and wanted to wish you a Happy 4th of July.

Stay safe.

Congrats on getting so much exercise in while chilling at the shore (spoken like a NJ person...shore...not beach...;) )

Actually, that's spoken like a "northern" Jersey person. Us NJ-ians that live right by the beach still call it the beach. :rotfl:

Amy, I hope you had a great 4th, despite the completely unseasonable chilly/windy weather we had yesterday. :goodvibes

LOL..Yeah..I'm a benny I guess ;) . Growing up in NJ and spending endless days at Seaside Heights has ingrained the odd phrase "going down the shore" into my vocabulary. But at least I don't have the accent. And in fairness I do interchange beach and shore  . When we're here we go to the beach...but when we make our way down here from the mountains, we're going to the shore. :confused3

On to training update from this week:

Tuesday: Pilates and 12 Mile Bike Ride!

Wednesday: 4 Mile Run...WOW was it tough. 2 miles up the blvd no problem...but the 2 miles back down against the brutal wind was soooo difficult. Oh well...in the books. Wasn't horrible. Averaged about 45 minutes. HR was good at 165 avg :).

Today's Plan: 12-15 mile bike ride and pilates :)

Tomorrow: 4 Mile Tempo Run if the body feels up to it ;).

Wish the weather was better. It's a bit cool and windy here at the beach. Hope everyone else is having a good July 4th week :sunny:.

LOL..Yeah..I'm a benny I guess ;)

Benny's a new one for me. We lovingly refer to you guys as shoobies. haha

Your training looks GREAT, girl! I need just 1/2 of your energy. :goodvibes

Uh oh...have I sparked some kind of Hatfields vs. McCoys turf war?

Tourism $$ is Tourism $$..can't we all just get along? :rotfl2:

Damn Yankees....
