The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

Also, if your shoes aren't wet / extremely dirty (and most people's wouldn't) don't forget you can step on the seat on most rides. Don't think you have to step all the way down into the ride as one big step.

We are going to WDW in December with a day at Harry Potter World. I won't even attempt to ride the Harry Potter ride, I'll wander the shops while my DH and DD ride. It's a pity to miss it but better than being refused entry.

JennyN,

I've heard that they now have bigger seats on the HP ride, so depending on how much you want to try it you might give it a chance.

I'm going to try it. If I get refused, I get refused. Its not like I'll ever see those people again! :thumbsup2

I've struggled with my weight since I was in my early 20's and as I've grown older, I've decided that I'm not going to let my weight stop me from doing what I want. If it doesn't work out, well - I tried! No regrets is the name of the game! Give it a whirl!

Just back! And the "hover and buckle then sit" technique worked SOOOO well on the rides i was concerned about! I had no problem with star tours OR dinosaurs. :) makes me happy!

By all means, give Universal/IOA a chance to show you that you WILL fit into many, if not all, of their rides. I'm 5'6" and 265ish pounds with a giant Santa belly and the only thing I will not/cannot ride at those 2 parks is Ripsaw Falls because the seating makes me feel claustrophobic. Most of the other rides that have tighter seats DO have a special seat for the Pooh sized with testing seats outside. All you have to do is tell the person seating you that you need a modified seat or row whatever.

I have ridden Forbidden Journey on both visits to the park. ALL of the ride benches now have modified seating on the ends. The 2nd time we went (May of this year) was after all seats had been modified and we were not pulled into a special line or anything, just told to sit on the ends. It was a tight fit for me because 95% of my weight is in my belly, but I DID fit, I wasn't uncomfortable, and they were more than happy to let me ride.

was just wondering...any of you pooh sized lovies flown SW recently? If so can you recommend any particular advise as far as maybe a great row to be in? Should I sit towards front/back/middle in order to not have someone sit in that middle seat?? I realize that I may be on a full flight and that if so it wouldnt matter but just thought I would ask if you have any ideas:goodvibes

I fly SW somewhat regularly and I find most people don't want to sit toward the back. If the flight isn't full I can count on sitting in one of the back 2 rows and having an empty seat next to me.

I fly SW a lot and do the same thing - sit in the very back. Usually it is my son and I flying and if we know the flight isn't full I'll sit by the window and he'll sit by the aisle and we will often end up without someone in the row with us.

I went last year to Universal and MNSSHP with DH and DD4. I am pooh sized at just under 5'3" (although I like to round up :rolleyes1 ) and between 265-280, I'm wider in my hips but fairly fluffy throughout. I wear a size 26/28 and was convinced I would have to just be happy to enjoy the sights while my family rode most of the rides. Hopefully I can reassure those of you that are around my size.

1. We flew airtran 17' seats and I could lower the armrest during take off. Thankfully DD4 was between DH and I so I could raise them during the flight because it was not comfortable, but it could be done. No problems. I couldn't put the tray all the way down but could lower it enough so my drink didn't slide off. The only issue I had was the nutjob behind me on the way home, every time I would lean back in my seat (the whole half an inch it allows) she would seriously punch and kick my seat. Finally after she hit it hard enough to hit DD4 and wake her up I came flying over the back of my seat. OK part of me did. Her excuse was she was uncomfortable. Long ago (mainly due to new flight rules and my dislike of jail or the thought of it) I decided being creepy was better than violence. So after we got off the plane I stood very close to her at the baggage claim, winked and asked her if she needed a hug. She left me alone after that. :confused3 anyway.....

2. The HP ride at Universal. We went last Sept. so they had just installed the pooh sized rows. I had already given up riding it and was positive due to the reports I was not going to fit anyway. I sucked up my pride and sat in the test seat. It did not give me 3 clicks. I wanted to see the inside of the line anyway and figured I could hang with the kids (we went with friends as well) while everyone rode my dream ride. sigh...While going through line one of the workers asked if we might think we need the larger seat I said I don't think I'll fit but hey why not give it a try? I sat in it just fine! I even had an inch or more to spare. The restraint closed without issue and off we went. I now understand there are plus sized seats on the end of every row. I really think for many of the Pooh sized readers here it is worth a try. It's dark and no one but maybe 5 strangers will know if you don't fit. You'll never see them again so who cares? The ride is worth it!

3. Disney rides were great. This thread had me pretty convinced I wouldn't have any issues but you just never know until you are actually there. We only were at MK for the Halloween party so I can't speak of the other parks but I do feel confident that I will fit on every ride. If I can squeeze into it I will ride anything so no worries if you are around my size. The only ride I passed on was Dumbo and that was simply because DH rode with DD4 and I took pictures. I didn't want to ride bad enough to ride solo, it was more for DD4. I also opted to let DD4 ride with DH on BTMR because of the bar issue. I did want want to terrify DD4 by sliding around in her seat. She was able to be more secure seated with DH so I rode alone in the seat behind them.

We hopefully will be going next month for a full week and can give an acurate report of the rides at other parks. I will ride them all if I can and hopefully put some fears to rest about being Pooh sized at Disney.

Can anyone speak about Mission Space? My dad is a larger but I know he's wanted to do mission space for a little while, however he thinks he won't fit as it's a close quarters ride. he's about 6'3 and... I don't know I'm bad with guessing weights, over 300lbs I would say. He'd be doing green side if that makes a difference.

If he can fit on the green side, then he can fit on the orange side. OOOPs, sorry, I misread the last sentence. Anyway.... Yes, he should fit just fine. As long as he isn't claustrophobic.

I would say that in the back is where you would have a greater chance of not having anyone next to you, but lately they jam pack those darn flights :confused3 I just flew SW coming home from our trip in August, and boy was I excited to see the exit row available, but then way disappointed to learn that you can't sit in that row with a belt extender  The flight attendents were surprisingly nice about being discreet when giving me an extender, but boy was I nervous that they hound me about needing that extra seat. I was very well prepared to argue the fact that my armrest went ALL THE WAY DOWN LOL!

Wow, where was I going with that  Basically I was going to say that if you can fit into the seat without an extender and the exit row is open, TAKE IT. There are only two seats in the row, with plenty of room!

My DH is 6'1 he weights about 295 and he had no trouble fitting he was green and had water and crackers when he got off the ride:rotfl:.

well spartankid...i have to tell you that I read that whole page on SW customer of size thing and I think they changed it because I read it again the other day and I swear this wasnt there before...but now they are saying that not only does the armrest HAVE to go all the way down but you cannot be touching the other seat either...

Customers who are unable to lower both armrests and/or who encroach upon any portion of the adjacent seat should proactively book the number of seats needed prior to travel

im just not going to stress myself over this anymore...Im losing weight and still have a good 2 months and a little over a week before i go so whatever is going to happen is going to happen..i will wait and be stressed out at the airport lol...im just hoping that it wont be a full flight...im definitely going to go towards the back though:thumbsup2

That's frustrating, even "normal" sized people encroach into the other seat. Jeez, those seats are so small to begin with. I'm just glad they haven't taken away the right to a seatbelt extender...I can fit in that seat, but where I carry my weight causes a real problem with the belt. Oh well!!

You have plenty of time to shed a few pounds, don't stress over it...or try not to at least. I was sick to my stomach before my flight, not because of the fear of flying, but because of the fear of FITTING...I swear it almost ruined my trip. Try for the back, and try to check-in online right at the 24hr mark to get a good boarding number so you can board earlier. Good luck, and try not to worry!
