The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I really want to try this ride. Big problem though im about 5'5 310 lbs, My husband is 5'11 maybe 250. Our question is, is if we go ride this can we get our own car. Other wise its going to be to uncomfortable for both of us. to ride in the same seat together. Does anyone have some tips for this ride?

I loved primeval whirl - hubby and I got a car to ourselves and we made sure to sit on the outside (so two empty seats between us). We're both fluffier than you and your DH (and taller) so you should have NO problem.

Check my blog/TR (in sig) for pictures of us and a video of the ride! :goodvibes

My son is not pooh sized but is a 6'2" teenager, when he was little he would squish into one side with me on this ride but that just isn't possible any more. What we have done, with good success, is just ask when we get up there for a car to ourselves. It has never been a problem. I have also seen the CM put other pooh sized couples into cars by themselves without them asking so I'm sure you won't be the only ones with this need. Its a fun ride, but really jerky so be prepared and have fun:rotfl:

I am sorry what does Fluffy mean on these threads? :confused3

Hey, Tito! Fluffy refers to those of us whom were built for comfort, rather than speed. It is the opposite of hard body. We also say "pooh sized." :dogdance:

I heard the term first from Gabriel Iglesias (whose stand-up specials are a RIOT) but have heard all sizes use the term too (doesn't have to be severely overweight). But yes... anyone bigger than the "standard" height weight ratio.

We'd be glad to allay your Aunt's fears and help her realize that Disney can be enjoyed by all. :goodvibes

Oh okay I get it, it means severely overweight. I have an aunt that is Fluffy or overweight that I am going to show these threads too. She thinks she is to big to go to Disney but she really has no clue. I appreciate all you Fluffy's making up these threads for people like her.

Thanks again,

Tito

"Extremely overweight feels a bit insulting. We are larger than average, but not necessarily HUGE! Be sensitive, and if your lovely aunt can get something from this thread, great. We welcome her. Just please, be sensitive to people's feelings!:flower1:

:thumbsup2 We all come in different sizes and shapes but were ok with that .

That's frustrating, even "normal" sized people encroach into the other seat. Jeez, those seats are so small to begin with. I'm just glad they haven't taken away the right to a seatbelt extender...I can fit in that seat, but where I carry my weight causes a real problem with the belt. Oh well!!

You have plenty of time to shed a few pounds, don't stress over it...or try not to at least. I was sick to my stomach before my flight, not because of the fear of flying, but because of the fear of FITTING...I swear it almost ruined my trip. Try for the back, and try to check-in online right at the 24hr mark to get a good boarding number so you can board earlier. Good luck, and try not to worry!

thanks spartankid...im not going to worry about it anymore..ive stressed so much over this I think it started to make me :sad2:

Im just going to do the best that I can do and keep trying to shed these pounds and just leave the rest in God's hands....I know that as the days get closer I might start to stress again but I am not going back on that stupid website, nor am I going to scour google for information in regards to it so I wont see anymore :scared1: stories...since I started this I have lost 45lbs and 5 inches off my waist and I still have till very last day in Nov.:thumbsup2

Anybody try a baggallini Messenger Bag, or any other brand messenger bag? I have a "fanny" pack that I bought several years ago that I usually use at Disney. I got it at Walmart and it came with an extender to make it fit waists up to 50+ inches. I don't usually wear it over my fanny, usually either over my stomache or to the side. For some reason last year when we went it was bugging me to no end. I ended up wearing it slung over one shoulder like a messenger bag or a purse, depending. But its not really made for that so thought I would like to find a messenger bag but... being pooh sized I know I need to find one that has either a longer strap or a strap that will adjust to a fairly long size. Any ideas??
Thanks!!

I'm a big fan of Vera Bradley bags. The lizzy is a small crossbody and I also have the cargo sling(style retired, but I bet you could find on eBay). The straps on these VB crossbody bags are very long and comfortable for us pooh size folks.

I agree her bags are very comfy. Lizzy looks like a great option. She has new crossbodies with a wider strap. I always use my mini hipsters. I am 5'4" and 222# and it flows over me nicely and always hits my waist just right. I have also used her small backpack in the parks, but still my fav is the mini.

Thank you both so much. :cheer2: I am 5'8" and 255 so have both a bit of height and a lot of weight so everything I have tried so far ends up choking me or doing that weird pull one of my girls way over to the side thing... I'll try Vera Bradley. :cutie:

I stumbled across this thread just a few minutes ago, and I'm breathing a sigh of relief. I'm a Pooh sized mom taking her sweet little boy to Disney in January and Ive been so worried about my weight. It's so great to know the experience won't be as bad as I've been worrying about!

Wendy,
Breathe a great big sigh of relief!! My son and I have been going to Disney regularly since he was 7 and I've been pooh sized the whole time. I am 5'8" and have varied between 230-280 on my various trips. I have ridden every single ride and Disney. The only one I had any trouble with is astro orbitor - easy to get in, really hard to get out! It was no great problem though I hated it. I'm not afraid of heights and love roller coasters that spin upside down and all around and for whatever reason astro orbitor scared the pee out of me :scared1: My son had the same exact experience, we spent the bulk of the ride encouraging each other and praying for it to be over. Not sure what the deal is. The other thing - you won't be the only pooh sized person at Disney (far from it) and I have NEVER had a castmember be anything but gracious and helpful. If you are nervous about something speak quietly to one of them - I've done this often and they are usually GREAT. Have fun!! If you want to private message me any time I'm happy to share any helpful hints I might have for you. :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I made all our reservations today and now all I have to do is wait no-so-patiently until January!

Just got back from 12 glorious days in WDW...and I am soooo I found this thread before going because it really did ease my mind. I had been to Disneyland several times, but this was our first trip to WDW,and I'm more pooh sized than I've ever been so I was worried at first. I had no problems with anything!!! I have to say, Disneyworld does it better than Disneyland when it comes to catering to all sizes. Disneyland is awesome too, but I found it much easier at Disneyworld..especially Splash Mountain, with the side by side seats. There was one ride that I had to squeeze sideways and on my tip toes, but I can't remember if it was Winnie the Pooh or Snow White. It wasn't a big deal at all though! Had an amazing time and cannot wait to go back!!!

It was probably the Pooh ride... I remember when we were there last month thinking... "For this being the POOH RIDE they sure didn't make doorways on the cars wide enough for POOH SIZED people!!"

Hey just a update for you guys now that I'm back.

I'm about a 20-22 and I carry most of my weight in my bottom half.

1. Baby powder worked great for the thighs, both for the heat and chaffing, I had no problem and believe me I walked my tail off for 6 days. Prescription Strength deodorant worked fine and even if you don't normally wear it, invest in it for the hot months.

2. Two pairs of sneakers. I have chronic Achilles Tendonitos which can cause PF like sypmtoms as well. I was there 7 nights 8days, 6 of which were park days. I hit up to 3 parks a day, and I walked non stop all those days. I switched them every other day. No blisters, no hot spots. I did have a little problem because one of my pairs can push on my big toe, but I put some of the padded mole skin on my toenail and it worked great. I took one pair of croc arch suport flips and I wore those when I was just at the resort, pool, or the night I went to DTD.

3. I fit everything and had no problems with turnstyles or seatbelts. The closest I came was on Astro Orbitor and then it was only that I needed to leverage myself up and back a little with my arms to get my knees bent to exit. There are a few rides where you sit next to each other and may touch thigh wise. Soarin', Star Tours, Kali River Rapids were the worst.

4. I had a bad time finding things that fit souvineer wise. I am roomy in a 3X and can wear a 2X as long as it is not that extreme contoured cut. I like things to be cut in on my trunk but not clinging and I don't like it to hang long, so I know I'm picky. Even extra large items were not fitting with out moulding to the trunk of my body. I looked at the men's XL and 2X and while these were roomy they were just too long in the shoulders and body length. There were some hoodies at Everything Disney DTD that I thought about but I own 3 or 4 and just didn't want to put out $50 bucks for it. In the end I didn't buy one clothing item. Even the outlets were a wipeout. My mom carriers her weight around her middle and she did find a 2X at the Vineland Wal-Mart that fit fine (she is a 3X usually). They had a pretty good size assortment I just didn't like anything enough to buy.

5. I normally have a some light deniem capris I wear a lot. Too much for Florida in September. I had 2 pairs of light weight shorts and a pair of cotton plaids. I washed them mid stay so I could wear them again. There was one rainy night that I wore one pair of lightweight capris, and it was tolarable, but the others never got worn. It was NEVER cool enough for any kind of mid weight or heavy material.

Any question that I may be able to answer? Please ask.

My biggest fear is not fitting properly on the flights, as well. When I sit, the armrest does move up a little. I don't have a problem with the seat belt...I guess my hips/butt are what spread when I sit? LOL

Never had any problems on any Disney rides. Six Flags....that's another story. I can hardly fit on any of the roller coasters (again, width wise in the seats) :(.

We are a pooh-sized family. I finally sat down and started to write about being Pooh sized at WDW. I have written 2 parts and am working on a third now about each ride in WDW and how as a 28-30W and 5'8" tall woman I find each ride.

I took a tape measure with me on our last trip and found the smallest seats 15 1/2", inside armrest to armrest, are in the back section (handicapped area) of HOP - they are an old style metal with wooden armrest type seats. I had to move out of them and leave my family to sit somewhere else. The widest seats are the newer seats 16 1/2" at the newer places or recently renovated such as Mickey's Philharmagic.

There is a link to the first part of my report on Magic Kingdom if you are interested here.

The second part on Future World in Epcot is here.

I am now working on one for World Showcase in Epcot then plan on writing one for DHS and AK.

Hope this helps someone because I know how much anxiety I have had over the years of will I or won't I fit. :)
