The Everything and Nothing Thread

What? I'm the first one here today? I can't believe that!

So, Good Morning everyone! :goodvibes I hope all of you had nice, relaxing weekends. And most of all, I hope all migraines are history and everyone is feeling well!

autumn - How was your girls' weekend? See, I remembered! Tell us about it, please!

Dizno - How was the weekend at the beach? Sounds like the weather was perfect!

marcy - Blueberry picking sounds fun! I've never done it before. What all do you make/use the blueberries for?

I have a dream to add to the weird Hollywood dream list. Last night I dreamed that I was at Carrie Underwood's wedding reception! Actually, her reception was held where I was taking dance lessons (no, I don't really take dance ;)) so I just happened to be there. One weird thing about the dream was that both Carrie and her husband had just finished med school and were starting residencies. At least I know where this crazy dream came from - I read an article in the new People magazine last night about the wedding.

My weekend at our camp was pretty quiet. It was just me and my DH (my DSis and DBIL backed out and my DSon chose to go hear a band instead :sad2:) We didn't do much of anything. DH fished some and took me out in the boat to fish a little bit Saturday evening when it cooled off. He fried fish and french fries that night for dinner. Mostly I just read the book I had started July 4th weekend (and hadn't picked up since). So it was relaxing, but definitely not exciting!

I hope everyone else had a nice weekend and found ways to beat the heat!

Oh, Pakey, I am so sorry about your surgery. Three weeks is very recent! You are still recovering; no doubt you know all about feeling bad.

It's nice to meet a fellow BC survivor. :goodvibes How long for you? Mine was in 2003 - I just passed the 7 year mark. I feel "cured", but there is always that fear of recurrence. Any time I have some little weird ache or pain that lingers, I think oh, no, it's back. But if it does, I'll just have to fix it again, like you're doing! I hope you're back to 100% very soon!

First time around on the BC was 3 years ago. I was advanced stage at that time so odds of it coming back were pretty high. First time, I had a great attitude except for losing my hair through chemo. This time around, I was a lot more scared. Lung removal sounds so much worse than breast removal, LOL. Anyway, now that the surgery is over, I'm doing great again. I will not have to do chemo again, a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy diagnosis.

This is why we travel a great deal. Life is short, for all of us. I spent my entire adult life working 80-100 weeks pursuing my career and I just don't want to live that life anymore.

My weekend was all about the nothing. With my husband out of town at a golf tournament, I didn't even get out of my pj's on Saturday. I worked on my China scrapbook, ordered delivery pizza, etc. Yesterday I went to the movies with my youngest son, 29. We saw Grown Ups, not a movie I would have picked, but I can't remember laughing that hard at a movie. It was a great weekend. Between still having to get around slowly and the heat (it was 106 both days), there was no way I was doing anything outside.

Good Morning Sweets!

Pakey---- wow- you have been thru it. Hope your recovery is really super fast and you are 100% back to normal soon.

Jane-- my mom is a survivor as well. So happy you are well.

So good to hear that everyone's weekend was a great one.

Ours was hot, just like everyone elses-- our heat index was 115. We went to the pool, saw the new Leo DeCaprio movie, Inception--- and can I just say that I didn't understand any of it????????:rotfl2: I suppose that's nothing out of the norm for me though----- I never understand jokes either.:rotfl:
Rented When in Rome- fell asleep to that one. Rented From Paris With Love and enjoyed it, minus the language.

Went shopping a bit at WIlliams Sonoma- love that store.
And that was my weekend!:goodvibes

ummm- blueberries. I think I will go get some with my breakfast. Marcy- how much did you pick??????

Hope everyone has a great day!:goodvibes

Good morning everyone

Sounds like everyone had a nice weekend. Hot, but nice! We did a whole lot of, well, nothing. :rotfl: It was too hot to do much. And DH had to work all weekend. I did make it to Kohl's Saturday and got a swimsuit cover-up on clearance! I was so happy - my size and on sale!! :woohoo:

Autumn and Dizno - can't wait to hear about your weekend trips! :yay:

Hello Jane, Pakey, and JO - glad you are all up and chatting this morning! :goodvibes

Good Morning Everyone:goodvibes
I hope that everyone had a nice weekend! We didn't do too much. Just a lot of swimming...it is so hot here!
Big weekend coming up for DD16. She will be 17 this Saturday and is going to Indiana for a seminar. She was elected President at her high school of the Best Buddies club. If you haven't heard about Best Buddies, it is an organization for people to work with others with intellectual disabilities. My daughter loves working with this organization. So, since she was elected president, there is a seminar in Indiana where she will represent her high school's club. I am very proud!
Looking forward to hearing about Autumn and Dizno's weekends!
~Lauren

Morning everyone...Is it really Monday? Can I rewind to Saturday? Or fast forward to Saturday...lol..

Well after a nothing filled weekend, back to a busy week at work..Trying to adjust to my DH's new work schedule, which is completely opposite mine..:headache: I have not spent a lot of quality time with him, as we never have the same days off. I am taking off on Friday so we can have some quality time together..

Other than that, planning an upcoming Ocala weekend to visit my aunt..

Hope you all are having a good time this horrid Monday!

Hello everyone!

Is it wrong to say on a Monday that this week is already dragging???

Off to finally get some lunch.

Pakey, I am glad you are feeling better, and yay for not having to undergo chemo this time! :cheer2: My Mom had to have part of her left lung removed (lung cancer, not mets) and she recovered fully and lived a full life until her death 21 years later (age 76) of heart disease. So I know that major surgery like that is very scary, but it sounds like you are on the road to recovery. And I truly believe that a positive attitude - which you certainly have - plays a big role in getting better! Your whole philosophy of life changes when you face an illness like cancer. Sometimes, in a roundabout way, it can make your life better. Not that I would have chosen to have cancer, but there were some good things that came out of it. I admire you for taking your life back and enjoying it, not just the traveling, but even the lazy weekends at home. And I bet it was so much fun going to the movies with your son and laughing your head off!

Hi everybody! Once again, I'm checking in from what is apparently the only cool corner of the country. We were in the 100s for a few days week before last - last night we had to close the windows because it was so cool!

The beach was lovely - quiet and relaxing. It's rare for the northern Oregon coast to even get into the 70s, so it felt great to sit out in the sun. The trade off is that the ocean is freezing, so only the most crazy go in the water! The summer temps made the drive over and back through the Coast Range smell extra pine-y.

True confession time - I've never seen any of the Twilight movies or even read the books. Not really that unusual, except my brother-in-law was on the crew of the first movie and my niece was an extra in it. I'll look around for a picture we have of her on set with Robert Pattinson.

Hope everyone is off to a good start of the new week!
Joan

eta - It seems I popped in in the middle of some very Everything posts with a very Nothing one. Did not mean to look uninterested in current discussion.

Thanks, Jo! :goodvibes I'm glad to hear that your Mom beat BC, too! We are lucky to live in a time when there are better screenings and treatments for all types of cancer.

I don't know anything about the movie Inception, but if it's one of those movies that require you to think too much, I would have been lost, too. I want to be entertained at the movies!

We were going to see Inception but I know my husband wants to see it and I doubt I'll want to see it twice so I told my son we should wait. I'd heard it was complicated. I'm still trying to figure out the Matrix trilogy since I was lost in the second two of those movies.

I did read the Twilight books (I'm an avid reader, I go nowhere without my kindle) but I have not enjoyed the movies. I didn't pay to see the first two; I waited until they came out on cable. I do have movie posters from the movies though; my daughter in law works in Los Angeles for a major movie studio and I have tons of movie posters. Having 3 sons, none of them are too interested in the Twilight ones, LOL.

Lauren that's wonderful what your daughter is doing. I've never heard of Best Buddies but it sounds like an amazing organization.

Funny dream Jane! :rotfl: Guess you need to stop reading People before going to bed!!

Pakey - I have wanted to go see Grown Ups the past 2 weekends, but just haven't made it yet. I heard is wasn't that great, but Adam Sandler always makes me laugh!

Inception looks good, but I was afraid it would be one of those hard to follow movies.

Dax - I sure hope you get some time with your DH soon! :goodvibes

Lala - That sounds like a great organization. I bet you are so proud of your DD. Is it something she might want to pursue a career in?

Dizno - Glad you had a nice weekend at the beach. :goodvibes Count me in as one of the very few people who have never read the Twilight books or seen any of the movies. Just doesn't interest me. . . :confused3

My big Everything news -- AirTran changed my November flight times on me this weekend!! So I had to call and inform them that messing with my Disney time is not acceptable. :rotfl: They agreed and changed us to a very EARLY flight and we will now have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to make our flight!!

Hope everyone is having a good day, well as good as a Monday can be! :)

butt crack of dawn! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My DBF always say the "crap of dawn" which I have borrowed on occasion. ;) But I think I like yours better!

So are you happier with the new flight than the original one? Will you be able to check in earlier?

Yes, I should pay attention to my reading material at night. Maybe I will read an article on George Clooney tonight. ;) I'll probably dream that I was at his wedding, though.

I'm also a Twilight un-fan. I'm still reading my owl book, but I'm almost finished! I didn't pick it up for 2 weeks. I'm just more likely to read at our camp, where there are fewer distractions.*

Crap of dawn, butt crack of dawn. Either works. :lmao: Both mean WAY too early!! :faint:

No, I was much happier with the flight time I originally booked. 11:00am. Not too early, not too late. Chances were better our room would be ready, no one would be tired & grumpy, etc. But yes, it is more time at Disney with the new flight - about 4 hours more! But chances are pretty slim our room will be ready that early and the kids will be grumpy. I will be grumpy.

Oh well!! It is what it is.

Maybe you'll dream that you are marrying George Clooney! ::yes:: :rotfl:

Just please don't make your family stay up for 24 hours and then hit the parks without even a nap. ;)

I've been meaning to ask if your DS ever found his Lego dude?

 Nope, wouldn't do that. :sad2:

Yes, the Lego dude was found. In the garage later that evening. :confused3 He was on the 4-wheeler, the boys said he must have wanted to go for a ride. :rotfl:

This cracks me up! We have a place we like to go called Sushi Boat, where the food actually floats around on little boats. My oldest daughter, who takes after her dad in that she has a huge playful streak, once took a couple of lego sailor guys and sent them around on the boats. She was in her early 20s at the time!

Yeah, a real joy!! I sure do miss the days of good flight times, low rates, and no extra fees!

Hello, Sweet Nothings!

I had a lovely weekend, full of laughter and sleeping in!:cool1: It was so nice to just be able to spend time with friends and have fun. Lots of girl-talk.:goodvibes And beautiful weather!!

Jane: A Carrie Underwood dream!! I have a good friend who is actually related to Mike Fisher, who she married (they are second cousins). I am a huge Carrie Underwood fan.:thumbsup2 I told him if he needed a date to the wedding he could take me and I would try not to ask for too many autographs while I was there.:rotfl:

Lala: Congratulations to your daughter!! I work with disabled children and there are a lot of them involved in similar programs and it makes such a difference for them. I hope she has a safe trip!

Pakey: Wow, I'm so sorry for all you've gone through. My mom had breast cancer when I was 8 and had a double mastectomy and is now doing well, but I know what a hard journey it was for her. I will absolutely keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Dax: Hope your workweek doesn't seem too long and you get to spend some nice quality time with your DH on Friday! Any special plans?

Dizno: Sounds like a lovely beach weekend... ahh I just love summer weekends, I wish they could last forever.:goodvibes

Momof2: Ughhhh I hate early morning flights. "Crap of dawn" sounds like a perfect description.:rotfl2:

autumnpalm: Nothing planned as of yet, thinking maybe going to Gatorland..its only $9.99 for FL residents right now..

Happy Tuesday all...we all made it through Monday, and are now trucking through the week, full force to the weekend...

I am in a funk as of late...got some info on my review at work that was not expected, and just tired of the backstabbing that goes on here..not much I can do about it though..

Hope everyone is having a good day.
