DVC Point Transfer Rules

As per the “old” rules only current UY points could be transferred but for the last year and more also banked and borrowed points could be transferred.

Hypothetically, could I bank points one year, transfer them to a friend the next year, then that friend banks them, and the following year transfers them to me?

Seems odd Disney would want to keep points on the balance sheet like this. But hey, that’s why I’m not in accounting.

No the system can see if they have been banked or borrowed already. Also transferred points can’t be transferred again. It’s a one and done.

But you can bank points one year, transfer them to a friend the next year. After that it’s done. If your friend does not use them they will expire.

If you didn’t bank them but transferred them instead, then your friend could have banked them.

Yes, you’d want to know the status of the points since points can only be banked or borrowed once.

It’s just now if they are in the banked status, they can be transferred and if they were current points, the receiver can borrow them, which was not an option.

The home resort rules and Regulations document has the specific rules that started Dec 2024

Points transferred don’t change their UYs or when they can be used.

Right now, you are in your 2026 UY….that means you are only allowed to get 2026 UY points from anyone.

The reason is because your 2025 is over and so you can’t get 2025 UY points any longer.

An owner with Dec UY, can transfer you their 2026 points today and would be avialbe for booking trips from Dec 1st, 2026 and on.

You don’t need to wait to get them.

There is some discrepancy between the first post and a few other pages.

My understanding is that Disney changed the rules and that you now can transfer banked points and borrowed points.

Is that correct?
