As for the boogering story. The kids are usually very sweet and very friendly. Mike is just one of the unusual cases. I still love seeing them in school and make it a special point to say hi to Mike. Like I said, I am just not trained to handle their needs be it medically, socially, or emotionally. Mike happens to be a younger brother of a girl in Chris's class, he is like this at home but mom usually gives in to his demands. (That is what older sister told Chris when she found out what happened at school) I didn't feel as bad once I knew that this was a normal for him but I was not happy that I was left alone with him. I got this feeling that the aids left him with me just so they wouldn't have to put up with him that day. That really bothers me and that is one of the reasons I do not want to sub there again. I felt very used. I have heard that a sub should never be left alone with special needs children. So I will not sub in their classes again.

Jodie, I have been thinking about you all day. How are your kids taking all the changes?

Betty, the kids are having a tough time dealing with the ping pong kind of day it has been here. Honestly, so have I. It is totally unerving. I know ya'll have not known me for long but I am not easily ruffled...I was a neurosurgery nurse for 15 years...nerves have to be kind of steely for that. I feel so silly letting all of this get to me like it has. At this point it is starting to look like we don't have the sniper in custody. Have no idea who we DO have!!! I know the authorities can say very little and that is difficult too. They are deciding about school tomorrow as we speak. I feel less secure today about them going to school than I did yesterday!!! There is so much unknown! I am hoping they will close the schools again...at least until the authorities can be more "comforting". I do believe SOMEONE has threatened the schools here, be it the sniper or the guys we have in custody and until someone can assure me of the kid's safety...at least a little...I think the schools should remain closed. We will see soon I guess. Man does this ever SUCK!!!! I think this will be one of those "dormitory nights"...where the whole family sleeps in our room. Might as well put the sheets on that pull out sofa now![

Betty, I work at a preschool, so I had the 3 year olds today. I have 18mo....I would like to work at a elementary school, but I don't have my degree. However, when I went to talk to the girls principal about Market Day, I mentioned that I didn't make it to Lunch Bunch because I subbed. She got all excited (thinking I was on their sub list) and asked me to fill out a sub application. Hey Betty! I am smilie and picture challenged too. I wish they offered a class, don't you?

Betty, we know you're a dork. We *ALL* are. Are you using IE or AOL? I use Netscape, so it's a little different than those two. One of our IE or AOL experts could better explain how to copy the link location and paste it. Anyone?

Betty, you are one amazing person to have put up with that. If I were you I would not have wanted to sub there either. I almost went into a rant about my cousin but decided not to. I'll just say it isn't always children's disabilities that make them act that way, but rather the way they are handled at home.

Glad to know I am not the only one who thought that Luis' brother was a bit off... I like Kim's word for him "weenie"

Oh and back to you Betty with your smilies... are you trying to get them off of those sights Kim gave? If so there are a few different ways to get them. Most will either make you click on the smilie and a box at the top or bottom of the screen will fill in with a website address with the needed tags for them. Just highlight all that and then you can either right click on that highlighted addres and then onto "copy" or you can do the easy short cut of Ctrl+C (hit both buttons at the same time) Then come back here and past it by either right clicking and "paste" or the easy short cut of Ctrl+V.

Now to get a smilie that doesn't give you URLs like that, you can take your cursor and while pointing at the smilie right click and then "Properties" You will see a box come up and a website address will be in the center. Highlight all that and copy it. When you come here click on the "IMG" button at the top of the reply area and paste it into the box that pops up. You'll get a smilie

Well guys...schools are closed here again tomorrow. The FBI advised the school superintendants to close them and cancel ALL outdoor and indoor activities. This just gets creepier and creepier. This is one relieved Mom though...I know I couldn't have sent them tomorrow. Guess we will just take this one day at a time. My tank is full of gas so I don't have to worry about that...although the guys with the red berets are here and pumping for you if you want them to. I do have to get to the grocery store tomorrow though...and a craft store! Yikes!!! Won't be Michaels!!!! I am sorry but this is all my mind seems to be thinking about. It really tests your faith!
Betty I sure could use one of your slushies!!! And who had the recipe for crock pot mac and cheese yesterday? If it's handy could ya pm it to me?

Um, Elaine, can we not do the parents are to blame for children's behavior talk? Please? Since my kids are adopted special needs, and my son was severely behaviorally handicapped, this hits a sore spot. I have been blamed so many times for his behavior by those who didn't know the history, it gets a little hard to stomach. You would have no way of knowing that I am a little sensitive to that, so whatever you do, don't feel bad. I would just appreciate it if we didn't go there on this thread. Thanks.
