Well, of course it does, but.... you could surely pick up a little Maleficent shirt or bag to be in the spirit of things for the trip, after all, DS would want that, right?

It's sooooo easy!

This is too funny!

An update: Since I first started this thread we have bought APs, planned a one day quick trip on Jan 2 before we all go back to school, and are also planning a week long anniversary trip for DH and I in June. That snowball just keeps on rolling! :rotfl:

Hes getting something...A sleeping Beauty set that has Maleficent in both Evil Fairy form and in Dragon form. At his birthday party...besides the Anniversary Edition of sleeping beauty releases on the 7th and we get to the park on the 5th considering getting it there rather than wait...lol

here's my snowball effect...
first of all the initial reason we're going is because my sister, who takes care of my 2 little girls during the week, is going to DL with her family. i mean, i thought "who's going to look after the girls while we're working? will i have to put them into daycare for a week? or should i just take vacation and spend a few days at home with the girls?" after thinking about it, i thought "shoot, why don't we all just go to DL, too?!". my sister didn't mind one bit that we were tagging along. they will get to DL 2 days before us, and we are all on the same flight back home.

anywhoo...what i thought was going to be a quick trip...is still a quick trip, but the things i've bought to prepare for this trip is crazy! i wanted to do matching color shirts...so i've had to buy both girls new shirts...blue, yellow, and red. dd2 has shirts of these colors, but when i was buying dd8months her shirts, i thought it'd be cute if their shirts matched! then i had to buy dd8months a few pairs of pants for the evenings there since i heard october nights can be a bit chilly...then matching jackets for the girls...new shoes. practically brand new outfits. i didn't have to buy anything new for DH...but i did buy myself blue, yellow, and red, shirts, too. not to mention some new shorts and capris. next thing you know, DH buys me a new camera! he said it's my early bday gift (my bday is in november, but he thought it would be nice to have a new camera for the trip). then i bought dd2 a new minnie backpack...which ended up being too big for her, so now i'm going to use it for the plane...and i snagged a toddler minnie backpack for dd2. then the toys...i bought several new toys for dd2 to keep her busy on the plane, at restaurants, and waiting in line for rides....even got dd8months new teethers and toys, too. got a new mickey mouse clubhouse DVD for the plane ride. oh, and i got myself a new disney hip pack to use while in the parks (DH refuses to wear a hip pack...LOL!).

what else? oh, i even made luggage tags with disney designs on them...made a total of 16 tags (8 for my sister and her family and 8 for us)...and i've made several LGMHs tags for me.

...and the greatest snowball effect for us...was booking a 2nd trip to DL in december! now for that trip, we'll have to purchase a toddler booster seat for dd2 because we are renting a car from LGB and driving to DL. we already have a spare car seat for dd8months (who will be 10 months in december).

whew! it's crazy...what can happen while planning a trip to DL! but i love it! the planning, the excitement! i can't wait to be there in 10 days! whooo-hooo!

I've discovered a new law of nature: No matter how casual of a trip to Disneyland you plan, it will snowball into a bigger and bigger trip. :lmao:

We started off with going to see my sister who lives about 60 or 90 min. from DL. Well, we may as well run over to DL for two days.

Well, even a short trip requires photos and my old camera is bigger than I wanted to drag around. So I just bought a new tiny Cannon (love it).

Then we thought maybe 3 days is better so we don't have to rush. And then we thought maybe we should just stay at a hotel in the area so we don't have to drive so far in rush hour traffic.

So, now I'm looking at hotel prices somewhere in the area. We have a car, we will get free DL parking with our tickets from AAA. So non walking distance is fine. No small kids who need a nap.

Has this happened to anyone else? - It must have! :) BTW, if anyone has a favorite hotel in the area I'd be interested. I wasn't paying much attention to this when I thought we were staying at my sisters. :)

OMG!!!!!! This is so funny....I soooooooo agree....it happens to us every time!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

No kiding...we live about 2 and half hours sometimes 3 hours from DL and we always say oh hey lets go next such and such a day for a day trip......LOL ya right!!!! Then we say oh maybe we should just stay at a hotel...lets find a cheap one near by so we can stay and then still stay on the low side of the budget.....LOL Ya right!!!!!! We always end up staying at one of the resort hotels either the DLH or GCH!!!! We just push it off with oh well we are getting more time at our very favorite place in the world (work sucks) and hey we got an AP rate on the hotel room so that justifies it right!!!:woohoo:
My Dh has a love hate relationship with me when it comes to Disney...yes we both LOVE DISNEY just as much as the other..............but he knows when ever he hears the words ok it's time for another quick trip in between our longer stays.........it's a cover up and will just slowly lead to the inevitable over night or 2 stay which he knows that means cha ching...........let the bank roll flow!!!!! I know he still loves me though!!!!!
I should mention as you can se by my ticker that a simple one day only trip down in Oct the 22nd to be exact, to celebrate our daughters B-day has now OF COURSE....become an overnight stay at you got it.....GCH!!!!! I know he loves me now!!!!!!....Hmm wait does this mean he loves the mouse more than I????? Oh my!!!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

PS......It would really give me a Grand Disney Day....if I could be booed...anyone want to boo me????

So sad I have not been yet:guilty:

But you know what? Even though it is a classic case of the Disney Snowball Effect, it actually looks like a really full, well thought out itinerary! You are getting Northern California and Southern California in, as well as a few really good character meals and several days in DL/DCA, you are staying at the GCH (which is my favorite), you are eating at some of the favorite DLR restaurants and you are dining with Shamu! What could be better? So next trip you can do Knotts and Universal and maybe squeeze in Six Flags and Catalina Island or something. And you never know - the TOTP MAY still have tickets available on the night you are there, so you MAY be able to have a last minute addition to your busy itinerary!;)

Thanks for making me feel better! I WAS feeling a bit gulity...now I feel like I'm not doing enough! :rotfl:

I Boo'd you! Check your PM's and you will find the Boo instructions!

Bump...;)

It seems like a good time to resurrect this thread, as I suspect some of us are falling victim to new aspects of the DLR Snowball Effect as the magical holiday season approaches. Come share with us your stories! You know you want to!;)

Well, being the expert Disneyland snowball maker that I am, I currently have two trips in the works. One for Jan. 2 (just for the day) and one in June. The one is June is just DH and I for our 20th anniversary. It was going to be just a few days but has snowballed into an entire week. :lovestruc

When we bought our APs, we thought it would only be a few days and we didn't think we needed a parking pass. Guess what? Now we need a parking pass. And I think I might need to have some rain gear on hand for Jan, just in case. At least some ponchos.

The snow balling can be humorous to read. he he! :)
For me, my last trip for example, it was more like the opposite. I had wanted to have 3 days at Disneyland, but I had to come back a day earlier, from what I had planned. So I stayed 4 nights, instead of 5. I have not bought a camera yet, so I use my camera phone, he he!
Because I wanted to travel as compactly as possible, for I was traveling by Amtrak, I did not want to take a suit case, forget it. So instead, I just brought along two small bags, and my purse of course, but with a price ;) For I decided not to try to stuff shoes into my bag, so I went with what I was wearing. Now when I go down by car, I bring a shoe collection! ;) Seriously. I brought a second pair of jeans, of course socks, etc. and a top for each day of the week, and of course something to sleep in. So clothing and shoe wise, that was it. :) I shocked myself, as to what little that I was bringing! ;) he he! Seriously. Oh, and I carried a light jacket, just in case. Now with the stinking hot weather in Anaheim, during my time there, who needed a jacket? Still though, it is always good to have it. I left it at the hotel, for I knew that I was not going to become cold, during any part of my stay. :)

Gisele..You had a snowcone effect.. where it got smaller and smaller..:rotfl: like a snowcone getting nibbled on.

I saw that Jetblue was having a fare sale. So, we could fly for less that $100 each.:yay: We were going to stay at Hojo's for 4 nights. Then Dh wanted to stay at GCH for the 2 nights he'll be there. Then I decided it would be too much of a hassle to have to switch hotels after 2 nights so I added 2 nights to the GCH. (which I have yet to mention to DH :confused3 ) Then I booked us on the Holiday Tour. So, that is my snowball story.
