We had a 2 hour storm this afternoon got about 2 inches of rain in that time Kris's pics resemble puddle that formed under our fence

Ok, so i may have screwed up my hot water heater or water pump in the camper. Dumb me left it on when i left my last campground. I was rushing because i had to leave early, i got called into work. No idea how leaving the water heater on could have effected the pump, unless i have no water in it. After it cools down i will add some water to the tank and troubleshoot it. Just a reminder, turn off your stuff when you park it for a bit. Lesson learned, hopefully no dammage done.

@Sjm9911 I have done that once before, left the tank on for a week, though it was full of water so really no damage. Water pump was off and no damage to it either. Hope it's fine.

Thankfully I am on higher ground and the big rainfall early this week (about 3" in an hour) did not cause us or any neighbors issues. Areas of Alexandria that are known to flood in those conditions did not fare well... That would be kayak country during these storms. Right now the several days of slow rain from the remainder of fred has been good for us, I am sure the well is being refreshed and my field...I mean lawn is turning green again.

Right now I am trying to plan out some end of season trips. We want to go up and visit Melissa's family in October after our niece is born. I also want to plan a weekend for just her and I to get away and unwind like last year. I think I have some good ideas rolling and I am hoping she will like them. First I need to call a few places in PA and verify there are spots. October and later gets tougher as places close, and then add in the camping surge and there is less room for last minute plans.

Ok , so here is my story lol. I couldn't acess the water pump, as i moved my camper to reseal the driveway, its under a slide and i had no room. Hooked it up moved it , and had the valve set to the wrong position. I changed that still no water out of the bathroom sink, or air but i could hear the pump working , filling the hot water holding tank. Hymmmm. Weird. Checked all the other faucets, they all worked fine. Really weird as the sink had a ton of pressure before when the pump wasn't hooked up...... so then went to the aerator, clogged solid. And what happened.

The water heater, not 100 percent full of water but still heating up crated its own pressure. This sent the sediment from the heater to the only valve i was using , the bathriom sink. Clogging the airator. I will keep it on under pump pressure for a bit then tomorrow i will start up the water heater to see if it still works. Im optimistic at this time. For a minute there i was stumped and about to start removing things that i had no buisbess touching. I think just having to move the camper started it off. Clear minds always prevail in the end. And i get lucky :teeth:

Now the co detecter keeps going off. Its the propane/ co and is one year old. No gas on or burning. I will take my personal one from work next time in. Im 100 percent there is no co in it. Not possable unless something is burning up in it, and i think i would have noticed that. May be batteries off gassing, but there outside. Camper has grown demons. Lol. Time to look for a stand alone propane alarm, and a battery co detecter.

Mine goes off when the battery gets low. It's tied into the chassis battery not the house. Difference is mine was 14 years old at the time, not new like yours. I just replaced it with a residential, 10 year battery. That was the CO, my propane is separate.

Yea, im plugged in power is fine. I may blow it out first and see how that goes.

Agree with Stratman. It's usually battery voltage related that early in it's life, even though you're plugged in. I might have experience...

I ripped mine out of the wall around 3 in the morning after it chirped 3 times. The first chirp, I shut off the propane. The second chirp I bled all the propane off. The third chirp it was lights out for it.

Lol , ill check the batteries in the am , but there not weak or shouldn't be as they worked fine on the last trip. And i have 2 of them. Detecter should last 30 to 60 days with nothing else on. I probably should check thenwater levels anyway. I need to get a hydrometer. They make those anymore?

As FYI, at the end of July 2021 Florida State Parks implemented a $7/night "utility fee" for all new reservations for all accommodations except tent sites. Apparently all us big trailer rv types running our AC all the time is the only reason I can think of. I guess nobody was using AC before when there was no fee, right?

But it's not a price increase, no no :sad2: , just a "fee". Florida senior citizens and handicapped can get it waived with proof.

I have an old reservation for a stay coming up in January at Lake Louisa that was before this new fee but new reservations statewide in the Park System going forward are implementing this.

Meh.

Sounds like a price increase to me. That's a steep one too really.

So it's the first week of school. Really the second as Melissa's gets preoccupied with setting up her room for her new students to come into. I am trying to plan something like last year to head out for a weekend at the end of the season to just unwind and relax a little. I been throwing dates by her with no real response so I think I am just going to book it, plan it and then let her change her mind if she really wants to.

That's what I do. We are camping this weekend in Southern Illinois (Shawnee Nat'l Forest- Giant City SP). A few months ago, I saw there was more than a 2 week gap that we weren't out camping so I booked this reservation. Didn't tell DW. She occasionally asks when the next trip is and I tell her. She doesn't notice that we never talked about going this place. I did just add 3 nights over Labor Day weekend (I usually avoid holiday weekends at all costs) at a small private campground in south/central Illinois where we know the owners. I asked DW if she wanted to go to Vandalia and see Barb and Bill. She said yes without remembering (knowing) we were also going out this weekend. Two weekends in a row! Yes!!

We have a couple of weekends off and then head out for 2 weeks to North Carolina and Tennessee.

I'm trying to sneak in some trips when the weather is amazing in the fall. Have one penciled in over DW's bday weekend back to her alumnus, K-State, for a football game. And by penciled in I mean I have applied for vacation and have a spot reserved. Just need the game tix now.

Trying to shove in some more short weekends in nearby spots.

Giant City brings back some memories, Jim. I think the last time I was there was maybe 1994 or 5 with Scouts. It's on my list to get back to sometime.
