The role of Amos. My audition was all right, we'll see. I'm up against someone who was actually studying and practicing the part before the audition. I'm pretty sure I'll at least get a call back.

Hopefully they will look right through that guy...like he's not even there.

Good luck Mister Cellophane.

Congratulations on this milestone!:rotfl2: Love it!

Well said :worship:

your the man!!:worship:

Un-congratulations. I thought Captain Jack Sparrow was much better than Mad Hatter.

Best. Milestone. Ever.

Can we get an official DDC decree recognizing the 4,083rd post as the DisDad Milestone??

Cheers,
Indy

WOW Didn't see that one coming:confused3 Congratulations on your 4083rd post:woohoo:

Huzzah!!!! Congrats!!!!:cool1::thumbsup2:thumbsup2:cool1:

Thanks folks....

It wasn't easy, I attribute to, ummmm, well, paying the Internet Bill every month, so I can get an IP tunnel to DISboards.com, and let me tell you, as much as I've held up my side of the bargain - paying that bill every month, I am not so sure the DIS has. There have been some brutal nights trying to get on. But that's all behind us now.

It's the friendly folks of the DISdads, that makes me battle slow connections, and often lost service. So I would like for you ALL to share in the moment with me, whether you got 142 posts, 1379, or if you are Stopher with like a kijillion, we all made my day special, and therefore all of our days special.

Thanks DISdads.... and Rogers Internet service (in Canada).

:grouphug:

Oh acting, I hope you get the part, was there alot of people trying out:confused3

You know, I don't honestly know. When I showed up for my audition time, I was the only one there, but it sounded like there was a number of people that were there and left before I arrived and there's still another day of auditions tomorrow.

At last night's BBQ, after getting a good fill, I asked one of my friends who has a extremly heavy Eastern European accent, to say What we do with Moose and Squirrel:lmao:

He had no idea what it was from, but after we told him , he was going up to random people at the party and during conversation would say it all serious:lmao:

I coach dds soccer and basketball. I have 1 good at soccer and 1 good in basketball. As for softball, I offered to help the coach this year. Last year, our then t-ball coach said at the first practice on a mixed team, "don't throw like a girl". I was pissed and told him so after practice. To this year, we have a different coach and all girls softball team. My youngest (6) plays and can almost throw it from 1 base to the other in the air. He has a practice routine, and I offered to help, but he already has some assistants. One of the most important things at this age is to keep them from throwing/getting hit in the head with the ball.
Did you see that catcher from the University of Florida that knocked his pitcher out cold with an errant throw to 2nd base? It looks like he stumbles over the batter's back foot, changing the angle on his throw. The pitcher is ducking down, facing 2nd base and the ball hits him right in the back of the head. Warning: the video is pretty scary. May want to get the kids out of the room before watching.

ANNOUNCEMENT

This is a very special post for me.

Most people like to celebrate milestones of posts, such as 1000th, or 5000th, or even 10,000th.

As important as that seems to be, personally I have a HUGE milestone myself.

This is my 4083rd post.

There is really nothing overly significant about it, but if the Mad Hatter can celebrate his Un-birthday, I can celebrate an Un-000th post.
Congrats!

Good news from the Doctor today. Everything is doing pretty much what it should be doing. I need to get an X-ray for the shoulder but the best news is that I am cleared to scuba dive again. No more sitting on the boat while everyone else gets to have fun. The bad news is that my next planned trip to the Keys isn’t until August.
Awesome! How old was your DD when she learned to scuba? I'd love for the family to take it up, but the kids need a few more years of swim lessons under their belts.

You have to be 10 years old to be PADI certified, but you can do "SNUBA" at Disney (in the Living Seas Aqua Tour) at 8 years! :cool1:

Hey Guys..... Guys....Where'd everybody go?
Maybe I smell bad?
sniff, sniff
awwwww!
(Sticks head directly under then Dole Whip spout takes a squirt and runs away)

If you stink, I won't be able to smell it. I have the smell of a 10 year old that just came off of a soccer field, in 96 degree heat, stuck in my nose.

Big NBA game tonight... I know we have some Mavs and Heat fans on here, so I'm assuming there will be some anxious viewing tonight!!!

Not much of an NBA fan here. Yeah, they're great athletes, but their fundamentals leave a lot to be desired, for me at least. It's hard to teach a middle school kid to block out and not to walk when these guys do it all the time and get paid millions for it.

Day 1 of classic soccer tryouts today. Blazing hot, and the staff did a great job of keeping the kids well hydrated. DS said that he did "medium" today. I told him if he wanted to make the team that he needed to do a lot more than "medium" on Thursday. Honestly, from my vantage point (read: tinted lenses), I thought that he had a pretty solid tryout: not great, but very solid. Hoping for more of the same on Thursday and letting the chips fall where they may.

AC is fixed:worship:. It was 84 in the house when I got home from the soccer tryouts. The temp is slowly working it's way down to normal, and it feels great.

All the reports I'm reading are that Star Tours 2 is better than any other 3D movie experience anywhere - in any context, whether movie theater or theme park attraction. They're using a different technology on the main screen. It's not Disney Digital 3D. It's a process developed by Lucas at Lucasfilm/ILM called Dolby Digital 3D. Even the glasses are different. That, combined with reportedly much improved ride mechanics, appear to lead to an attraction that is far less subject to motion sickness issues as compared to the previous iteration.

Yes. All true. Very different. Much better than any other 3D or simulator experience I've ever had.

Very cool! I'm ready to go back and go again!!

That sounds way cool. Being a full-time glasses-wearer, 3D has always been a bit of an issue for me.

Like you, I am a full-time glasses-wearer... and the new 3D glasses are terrific. They fit right over and kind of "lock" in place. They are very, very cool. They don't fold up either, which kind of helps keep people from walking out and keeping them too I'd think. Bulky, but very very good glasses.

And the 3D is not cheesy. Definitely worth seeing again, and again, and again...

I think there can be 54 unique experiences. Ergo, a minimum of 54 shall be required. :thumbsup2

(I have no idea what "ergo" means, but I makes me sound smart when I use it)

54 is correct.

Ergo, Barry gets the prize for thread correction today. DING DING DING!

There truly is no prize, but it felt cool to say it.

Did you get a Galatic Passport to get the destinations that you visited stamped:confused3

Yes, it was ugly. A friend of mine was at the game and he facebooked that it was really scary. Florida did go on to win the SEC championship and are the top seed in their regional.

As Chris pointed out PADI certification as a Junior Open Water Diver is 10 YO. There are some restrictions with depth and who you need to dive with until 16 when it automatically goes to a regular certification. Andriana got certified at 12 when I moved back to Miami from NY. I disliked the move and one of the only fun things to do down here is dive. Since she lived in Florida, she was in the water before she could walk and is a good swimmer. Start them off snorkeling in a pool.

We love it. She is a natural diver and is getting to be a pretty good shutterbug. To keep it Disney related, we twice did the living seas dive. Pretty easy dive but very cool.

Oh, and to cap off my day, the Heat won Game 1.

Well, if Stopher can use "ergo", it must really be a good word. :woohoo:

I guess I'm facing that dilemma that every parent starts to face. My kids are just starting to get to that age where they can do things independently (dance classes, t-ball, etc) so I see the potential to do so much with them and have them experience so many of the things that I never got to as a child. Yet the old saying is true: "they grow up so fast". I treasure every day with them and a part of me wants to keep them this age forever.

Good morning gents :surfweb:

Yawn. 'Morning. :scratchin <--not scratching his chin.

Know why no one makes fun of Indiana Jones and his satchel? Because he has a whip in the other hand.
:idea:Think they'll let me into the park with a whip????
And for times when the whip won't do, he just shoots the guy...
Good idea, but I already know they won't let me in with a gun.:lmao:

Thanks! To be honest, the other guy is a better singer than I, but I think I'm a better actor and have better stage presence. And I don't know who else all tried out. I think it's going to be a tough decision for the director.
