On a completely unrelated topic (and since there really isn't a topic right now anyway) My 4 year old son's first T-ball game is Saturday. There are about 12 or 15 kids on the team, most with little or no baseball experience. I'm trying to walk that fine line of "helping out, but not stepping on the coach's toes." Anyone else have experience with this kind of thing?

I think Aaron said it pretty well. I helped coach my son's T-ball team last year, and I think 95% of my instruction was, "Stand up, pay attention, turn around, stop playing in the dirt..." I'm sure the coach would appreciate it if you can help keep the kids focused on instruction and the game.

my first year in little leauge, our center fielder would sit on the ground and eat grass hoppers.:lmao: it was more fun watching him than playing the game. even the coach egged him on.:lmao:

That's what I did, too, Barry. I used to coach all my kids teams (soccer, t-ball, basketball) until they were about 7, and the coach actually needed to know how to play the game. There was one boy who I told his parents, that my one goal for him was to have him not sit down on the soccer field during a game (he finally did it!) Have fun!

ANNOUNCEMENT

This is a very special post for me.

Most people like to celebrate milestones of posts, such as 1000th, or 5000th, or even 10,000th.

As important as that seems to be, personally I have a HUGE milestone myself.

This is my 4083rd post.

There is really nothing overly significant about it, but if the Mad Hatter can celebrate his Un-birthday, I can celebrate an Un-000th post.

Un-congratulations. I thought Captain Jack Sparrow was much better than Mad Hatter.

Hmmmm... let's really give them something to talk about then.:lmao:

That's a shame. It is one of my favorite CS places. I love burgers though and that fixin's bar is fantastic.

Is this trip something that is almost definitely going to happen, or is it a plan and hope thing?

She complains about all the princess pics too.

Best. Milestone. Ever.

Can we get an official DDC decree recognizing the 4,083rd post as the DisDad Milestone??

Cheers,
Indy

Thanks everyone on the coach/parent input. Since we've only had practices so far, I've been assisting in teaching the way the coach wants things taught (proper foot work on fielding, throwing, etc). I've seen enough of "those parents" to know that I don't ever want to be one!
:woohoo::woohoo:

I coach dds soccer and basketball. I have 1 good at soccer and 1 good in basketball. As for softball, I offered to help the coach this year. Last year, our then t-ball coach said at the first practice on a mixed team, "don't throw like a girl". I was pissed and told him so after practice. To this year, we have a different coach and all girls softball team. My youngest (6) plays and can almost throw it from 1 base to the other in the air. He has a practice routine, and I offered to help, but he already has some assistants. One of the most important things at this age is to keep them from throwing/getting hit in the head with the ball.

Good luck.

Whatcha auditioning for?

The role of Amos. My audition was all right, we'll see. I'm up against someone who was actually studying and practicing the part before the audition. I'm pretty sure I'll at least get a call back.

I'm taking it that it is Amos from Amos & Andy, and not Famous Amos (the cookie guy):confused3

Big NBA game tonight... I know we have some Mavs and Heat fans on here, so I'm assuming there will be some anxious viewing tonight!!!

Good news from the Doctor today. Everything is doing pretty much what it should be doing. I need to get an X-ray for the shoulder but the best news is that I am cleared to scuba dive again. No more sitting on the boat while everyone else gets to have fun. The bad news is that my next planned trip to the Keys isn’t until August.

That great stuff! Congrats, and enjoy Key West (in August...):thumbsup2
