Have you ever wondered what it would sound like if an entire country would stand and cheer at the same time. I don't need to wonder anymore.

What a game!!!!
Congratulations, Canada! We really enjoyed your Olympics! Wait 'til 2014!

Check out the Signature boys!!:banana::banana::banana: I wore her down. :rotfl2: Going to take the boy out of kindergarten for a week in December. I am going to miss the DisDads meet by just a few days...we are leaving on 12/5 to come home.
Way to go! I wish I could convince my DW.

Sorry...just us Siemens employees.

First Drawing is this Friday...4 Night Disney Cruise for 4. :woohoo:

he must... :rolleyes1
Good luck!

hey Guys ? for you all.Have any of you been to House of the Mouse with just your wife? no kids !!!..I am thinking of a nice little trip in July for our 20th wedding anniversary.I am trying to get some input on this cause my other choice is a cruise cause that is what we did for our honeymoon.I am leaning toward the House of the Mouse.Any input would be great
My DW and I took our kids once, in 1990. We have been there a bunch of times without them, although this last trip our younger son went with us (he's 27). We have learned how to relax at The World, which makes it enjoyable. However, we can't wait to go with a grandkid or two.......or three! We definitely pace ourselves and we've learned to enjoy sitting outside the food court at POFQ and just watching the kids on their way to the parks. The princesses are great and now there are always plenty of pirates, too.
ok guys sitting here with nothing to do waiting for my wife to get home from work and was wondering.Who is the most famous person you have seen in Disney?
I have seen President Carter. As a matter of fact believe it or not I shared a restroom with him( and yes he washed his hands) lol.Could not believe how relaxed the secret service was.I even got a pic of him walking through the park and in the pic you cant see the secret service. But then again most people didn't even notice him. lol
Well he is the most famous I saw.
Now my wife was at the same hotel as Shaq Oneil when he was drafted by the Magic and she has pics of him.
Waiting to hear some stories of your famous meetings
Mickey Mouse! We did see Neil Patrick Harris when he was in the parade at DHS but that probably doesn't count. As for famous people at other places, Larry Holmes lives in Easton so we've seen him numerous times along with other famous fighters: Shavers, Arguello, Pryor, Duran, etc. And, I once saw Frank Zappa in O'Hare Airport along with Flo and Eddy. Does anyone remember them or are you guys too young?

Do they have gambling on a Disney Cruise:confused3

Evey time a wife walks into a gift shop its a gamble:scared1:

That was my first thought too. I'm sure there is someplace on earth they don't know who he is but I'm pretty sure I don't want to visit there!

Haven't met anyone non-Disney in the parks, I did meet George Foreman in Vegas. I happened to be walking through the MGM just as they were setting up for his book signing, there were only about 20 people waiting around so I got in line. About 5 minutes later I get a tap on the shoulder and it's George, he puts finger up to his mouth and gives me a ssshhhh then squeezes into line in front of me. There was a kid in front of me who couldn't have been more then 8 or 9 with a pair of boxing gloves over his shoulder. George crouches down, taps him on the shoulder, and asks what everyone is waiting in line for. I thought the kid was going to wet himself.

We saw Kelly Ripa a few years ago when she was in town to tape the Christmas parade. We were just about to get on Toy Story Mania when they brought her, her husband and kids in from the back (I'm assuming a VIP entrance) and loaded them up. They were a few cars ahead of us, so I couldn't see her score. :confused3
Last trip were were in to see Tinkerbell and friends, and cast member brought a younger family in from the back. They were definitely dressed like they had money, but I have no idea if they were famous or not.

Outside of Disney, I did almost get killed by Reggie Jackson one time. We were in Cooperstown, NY at the baseball Hall of Fame in '99 when Robin Yount, Nolan Ryan and George Brett were inducted. I was on the sidewalk, crossing an ally, when a big black sedan comes flying down the street and cuts into the ally. I had to jump out of the way. Sure enough, Reggie is driving. He was late for an autograph signing where he was charging $20 for a signature. I don't care what anyone says about him, he's a class 1 ****** in my book.

The most famous person I saw....I have two:

1 - Frank Caliendo - the comedian

2 - EmmasDad aka Don!

I think that Don was the most famous of the two. He seemed so down to earth.:lmao:

I've never seen anyone famous at WDW but I did have the pleasure of scaring the BeJesus out of VP Quayle once. I had a balloon business and exploded a 5 foot balloon just over his head in a gymnasium and only a couple of the secret service knew it was coming. The look of shock on his face was priceless! When he came by me, in a cordoned off area, he shook my hand and said "are you the one?" hahahahaha:rotfl:

***Blows Whistle and signals for a foul***

Ok, I'm getting lost (yeah yeah yeah, I know, big surprise).....What dates are we talking about when everyone is going to be down here???

Is this Spring or December???? Somehow, I got cornfused:rotfl::rotfl:

Reason I'm asking----I deploy back to the Sandbox in May, but get back in September---just in time to TRANSFER:scared1::scared1::scared1:........

......All the way from Brunswick, GA (36 Miles North of the Florida Border) to (duh duh duh) Jacksonville, FL (35 miles SOUTH of the Florida Border):lmao::lmao::lmao:

Got really lucky and don't have to move---

That being said, I'm game for trying to "drop in" on the crowd if you guys are going to be down here in December!:woohoo::woohoo:

Also, never seen anybody famous at WDW...I will caveat that by saying that WDW is one of the VERY FEW places I put my blinders on and focus on just my family and NOT the environment around me----so I very rarely pay attention!!!!

Funny story....this last trip we weren't expecting it to be as cold in the mornings as it ended up being, and some dummy (not mentioning any names, but his name is Michael:rolleyes1) didn't bring a sweatshirt.....well, the only thing I had was an old Raid Jacket I had under my seat in the truck. It has a flap that says "Federal Agent" on the back, that normally velcroes in the vent in the back. However, the velcro was all blown out on this one, and the flap kept coming down. Well, after fighting the bus crowd one morning going into MK, the flap came down, and I didn't realize it....

Make a long story short I "met" the front end Security Supervisor while kneeling down and putting the diaper bag udner our stroller---he came up and introduced himself (he was in a tie, not a Mouse Cop uniform:rotfl2:). Come to find out, he and I knew each other from when I used to work the area (he's a retired Feeb, and laughed when he saw who it was)...

They basically wanted to find out if I was "carrying" or not---I wasn't, and I never do at WDW.....

I tried to shove that stupid panel back up, but it just fell out again---he laughed and said "hey, you guys are free deterrents for us".....

Needless to say, I bought me a sweatshirt pretty quick!!!!!:lmao::lmao:

For you guys that don't know, the security apparatus at that place is second to none---when I was on the JTTF, I used to work with them a lot, and it's incredible what they have---be very very very careful where you pick your nose in the parks:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Fed - there are 8 of us (so far) that will be there roughly during the first full week of December. As far as I know there are two (GoHerd and Cinderella's Fella) going to be there the week before.
The planning thread is the green link in my signature. Or click here

Steve - I added you to the "previous week" roster of the thread. I guessed at your dates based on your ticker. Let me know if you want them updated.

I know for sure that myself, that's nice, and stopher1 will be down there next week. Possibly someone else, too, but I can't recall.

I'll be posting pics and status updates on Facebook during my trip. If anyone wants to follow along, friend me at www.facebook.com/barry.sommer

Barry, what day are you starting your pilgrimage to WDW:confused3

I pick DD up from pre-school on Thursday at 3:15 (Central Time). By the time we get home, DW should be home from work and we hope to be on the road by 4:00. We'll have sandwiches packed for dinner and stuff packed in the cooler for breakfast on Friday. We're planning gas/potty stops every 250-300 miles (or when DS or DW say they have to go. DD seems to have an iron bladder :thumbsup2) DW and I will drive in shifts. We'll grab lunch to go at one of the gas stops and hope to be pulling into Grandma & Grandpa's house in Lakeland sometime Friday afternoon.
Last time we made the 1260 mile trip in 22 hours. Cross your fingers for a favorable tail wind...:cool2:

That 3:00 - 4:00 time spot sounds like its going to a crazy madhouse, once you get on the road hopefully you have smooth sailing, and we hear from you Fri afternoon- I'm here:yay:

You will have to let us know how far into the trip you hear from the back seat

Daddy are we almost there? or Are we there yet?:lmao:

Chuck is displaying his strength dangling upsidedown with his toes while holding 2 balls that equal to his total body weight each. Drum roll...

Chuck is amazing!

Missing Socks ehh! I always wondered where they went

oh Yea Steve, forgot to tell you I even came up with a game plan that once a stepped foot on the ship ,my feet did not touch land for 7 days :thumbsup2 I am the type of person that could just take a cruise to nowhere,I do not need to get off the ship. There is no need to !!!! they have beer/drinks, they have food did I mention the beer? ok so I did. Did I mention the food? ok So I did again, get my point? :lmao:

You bet!! DW wants to go on all the ports. I want to stay drunk and well-fed for as long as possible. That is time away from my intended purpose in life.

I shouldn't be too much of a madhouse. I have off on Thursday, so I can take my time getting the van packed and getting the last minute stuff done. If all goes as planned, DW will get home, change clothes, and away we go.

Our last trip there wasn't too much whining from the back. Plenty of DVDs, games, books, etc to keep the kids content.

:lmao: Watching this last night.

I remember when I was down there in July there was a rumor that Disney was looking for a new sponsor for Test Track as GM was in such financial trouble.

In light of Toyota's quality issues...wouldn't it add a certain excitement to the ride...will the accelerator stick??? will the brakes fail???:eek: BOTH????:eek::eek: Is my car a Prius! :scared1:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Shari and I went every year even before the kids came along. It was a different type of pace then. Now, it is more laid back and easier pace so the kids dont tire out so quickly...It was fun with just us but I did not know any different...nowit would feel sad to me tonot have the kids with me. We are using the december trip to celebrateour 10th anniversary which is really oct 28. Wanted to go to Hawaii again but decided on Disney with the kids instead. You said you went on a cruise...that is a great romantic adult getaway...we cruised Royal Carribean with just the two of us twice and loved it...I will have to let you know what a disney cruise is like in a few weeks

You guys will enjoy the cruise, I'm sure. We had a good time, and our kids had a blast. It's very difficult not to have fun with a Disney vacation.
