Seeking birthday party advice......

Nicholas' 8th bday is rapidly approaching and I've been asking him what he wants to do. I gave him the option of having a party somewhere (skate rink, Fun Land, etc) or having a sleepover. He has chosen the sleepover. I'm a sleepover virgin!!!! It will be his first. How many boys should I let him have? What kinds of foods should I serve? Games? Entertainment? Remember, I need easy and convenient. I'm thinking that it will probably be a Saturday night. Kids will probably be too tired for a Friday night sleepover after a week of school. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

Here's how I handle birthday sleep overs....invite as many as the kid is...most of the time all won't show. Pizza and movies (make sure to tell the parents which ones are on the viewing list), popcorn are all sleepover standards.

I would probably do Friday night if I had the choice. Saturdays often lead into having to leave early Sunday for church services.

My last tip is have Alyssa have a friend over also...than she's less likely to "bug" the birthday party boys.

Thanks Theresa. I didn't even think about the Sunday morning church issue.

I agree with Friday night too--then,after they are up later than normal, they can sleep in on Sunday--plus the church thing, which i didnt think about

I w ould say 5 or 6 boys--pizza , movies and popcorn definitely!!we always liked ice cream or something like that too

Elizabeth - have you seen this pin? It's the Thomas Kinkade painting.

what is the code for free shipping. I saw a cute fleece blanket and hat set the blanket can be personlized

SHIPPZ is the free shipping code.

well Virginia's weight is the same as it was wed. Her jaundice number is higher but it is right at the end of the low intermediate zone. we go sun. morning for a weight check and another jaundice level blood draw.

Good luck! I hope she is all better by Sunday!:wizard:

Elizabeth - how do you stack the 20% off and free shipping codes?

Put the items in your cart, then click to check out. Type in the first code and hit enter (or whatever to apply the code) then type your next code and it will apply them both. SHIPPZ and HOLIDAY.

I would just invite 3 other boys - 9 boys in my house would be WAY too many!:scared1: If there are 4 total that should be PLENTY! I agree with Theresa - pizza, cake, popcorn, movies, board games. Donuts & fruit for breakfast and then everybody goes home by 10 or 11 AM.

Mary from MouseSavers e-mailed me back today but she wasn't aware of the new Bounce Back. She said she is traveling (which is what Lindsay said!) and that she will check into it and see what she can find out.

So it appears the VAST majority of people who made it to Round 2 of the Moms Panel are not advancing to Round 3. That includes the Travel Channel Dad AND the girl who smarted off at me. So HA!:stir: And they are posting how sad they are. Oh, now that the shoe is on the other foot they are all sad? When I said I was upset because I didn't make it I essentially got called a sore loser but they can be sad and not get shot down for it? Whatever!

We just had a big BOOM and lost electricity for a minute. I thought it killed my printer, but I got it working again.

I know I am entirely way too hard on myself. Deb keeps popping into my mind and the creative and fun spread she would prepare for a bday party sleepover. Then there is me, having pizza delivered, microwaving popcorn and throwing in videos. :sad2: :rotfl2:

That would be me, as well! Only I would make DH go get the pizza because it is better than the kind we can get delivered. Oh, and I would buy a cake at the store, too. Only I would try to pre-order it so it wouldn't have the gross icing.:rolleyes1

The only time I've different on sleep overs than you is when we did Cassidy's 13th party...then we picked Chick Fil A up...borrowed a theater popcon machine and gave the girls matching cups and bowls for movie night!!
