We do make Maple Syrup. We actually sell it at the restaurant that I work for as well as other locations. We make around 500 gallons per year. I know all about not being able to eat it. This is the 3rd year that I have been on a low carb diet while making Maple Syrup. I always end up breaking the diet at least once. There is nothing better than fresh Maple syrup on a warm raised donut. I also love Maple Spread (It's like a really soft maple candy that is awesome on fried bread dough). Just writing about it is making me hungry. If anyone is going to be in Vermont within the next month, please let me know and we can get together for some Sugaring. It is a lot of work, but so much fun.

Deb

Wow - I never knew anyone who made maple syrup before - cool.

Which made me think actually, a lot of people talk about going to work or DISing while at work, but I don't think I have any idea what most of you do! Anyone want to share?

oh - I found a counter argument to the all-star resorts are just fine - from another thread....

2) The people who handle the events such as the Wishes Cruise are also the people who maintain and staff the resort pools and, at various points throughout the day, they have to take sample readings of the water in each of the resorts pools. Well, anyway, our driver told us that he/she (don't wanna get our driver in trouble) would be happy to stay at any of the WDW resorts, excepting the All-Stars. When I asked why, he/she told us about the daily pool samples and said that it's routine for any single All-Star pool to have a higher urine reading than all of the other resort pools combined. Sheesh. He/she said it was because of the high concentration of families with children that stay there. He/she then said something to the effect of, "You know, you can only shock a pool so many times in a day before you kill someone..."
EEWWWWW....that is just gross.

Here's a little potty humor.
As I know I've mentioned before, Colby is in the throws of potty training. This has been the longest potty training ever. :confused3 . We have been offering bribes to get him to poop on the pot. He used to do it, but then decided that he like the diaper better. Anyway, he announced tonight that he had to go pee. We sent him to the bathroom. About a minute later he is yelling for me to come to the bathroom. I figured he hadn't made it and needed new underwear. Much to my delight he made it and he pooped all by himself. :cool1: That is huge. I called Chris into the bathroom and we made a really big deal of it. Colby, still sitting on the toilet, looks Chris straight in the eye and announces "that pays money". I thought I was going to die laughing. I hadn't offered him a monetary bribe in a while, but he remembered and was looking for his quarter. Don't we all wish that taking a poop would pay. We'd all be rich. :rotfl: :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :cheer2:
Way to go, Colby!!

I watched that on Saturday. That is what made me crave the Penne Alla Vodka. That one girls wedding was over the top (70,000). And they looked like the were only 22 or so. Mom and Dad must be soaking rich. I bet the don't go all out like that for her second wedding.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I actually meant to post, but it's been a crazy day!

I went to a surgical oncologist last week, that specializes in the head/neck. He decided to do a needle biopsy on my lymph nodes, although he was certain they were just reactive after seeing all my tests from my other dr.

Sure enough - test results came back today, and everything is completely fine! My nodes are purely reacting to something, and have actually lessened in size - I bet it won't be long until they're gone for good!

Thanks for asking, Amy - and to all of you for your prayers a couple of weeks ago! :grouphug:
That is definitely good news Lindsay! YAY! :cheer2:

Okay Tammi - this is bag number one

I think this is for people who like to travel light or have a stroller and don't need a place for water bottles - I am working on a backpack and will hopefully post that soon!!

the bag part is about 11x16 inches and you can see my video camera inside it

each strap has a pocket on it with a velcro closure - one has an elastic band on it making it perfect for a cell phone - and one does not - more designed for fast passes - I think I will move the cell phone pocket to the front of the bag as it is awkward to reach the pouch on the back strap - the strap also has a long strip on it for pins to go on
Kate, I love the bag! Are there any separate pockets on the inside, too. I really like the cellphone/fastpass holder, and the strap for the pins was ingenious. I would have never thought of that.

Wow! A size 8! That's wonderful!

I just found out I fit in a size 12. I haven't been a size 12 in almost 15 years! Talk about a good feeling!
WOOHOO! Good for you! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am trying desperately to get back into a size 10. If I wear the low-rider jeans, I am. But in regular waisted pants, my leftover pregnancy pouch gets in the way. How do you get rid of that??!! :confused3 :confused3

So is it stealing when one takes about 10 of those lime green paint heads to laminate for all of their bags????

Hey -- we're so tired after our long trip and all you people want to do is bash. So unfair. Is there anybody here that will defend us??

I was thinking the same thing. After that long drive and now all they are doing is giving you grief.

I would like to proudly say that I was born in 1966!!!! And very proud of it. It takes special people to be in the "40+ club"!!!!

You should have heard Matt in the car today!!! Whine, whine and more whine! Mom, how come we don't have a tv in the car? There's nothing to do, I'm bored. Meanwhile he had plenty of electronic gadgets to play with, coloring books, reading books etc. to keep him busy. Know what I had to keep me busy on long car rides? Two brothers to beat me up!

Me Too!!! I had to sit in the middle of them to keep them separated. When they would act up and get in trouble my Dad would reach his arm back there and start popping legs.......while still driving of course......well guess who got 99% of the pops?? ME!! It just wasn't fair.

Yes - please post it - I love Dole Whip!

DOLE WHIPS

Ingredients
1 quart pineapple juice (Dole)
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups cream
3 cups sugar
milk

- Mix the pineapple juice and sugar...make sure that the sugar is dissolved.
- Next add the cream and vanilla.
- Poor the whole mixture into the Ice Cream container.
- Add milk to finish filling to the "fill line"
- At this point simply follow the instructions on your ice cream maker
- When the ice cream is ready you can serve it as is, or you can stick it in the freezer for a while and let it set up a bit.

This makes about 3-quarts, so if you have a smaller ice cream maker (or larger, I suppose? ours is 1.5qt) then either adjust the recipe or stick some of the mixture in the fridge for the next day. Don't try to make 2 batches in one day, even if you think you are able to "refreeze" the canister. At least with the electric ones (not sure about the old ones with salt/ice, etc) they don't freeze enough and you'll be left with a pineapple smoothie. Which also tastes good, just isn't exactly the desired outcome. :goodvibes

Lynn -- Me too! Although I've got a few months until I'm "official"!

Glynis -- congrats on your jeans size!

Lindsay -- Great news on your tests. I know you are so relieved to have a definite answer. Hopefully those pesky nodes will completely shrink soon.
