Other the t-shirt for Terry & Stephanie's tea, I don't think anything has been made.

If you have any ideas, I'll give them a shot. I know that there were a lot of really nice F&WF shirts made a couple of years ago.

I hope everything is done and ready to go so we have an easy morning. Nicholas is excited, Alyssa is nervous but excited too. He promised to take care of his sister on the bus in the morning, so that's a bit of a relief for me.

Here is how I'm feeling now. Have you heard this before?

Dear World:
I bequeath to you today one little girl...in a crisp dress...with two brown eyes...and a happy laugh that ripples all day long.. and a flash of light brown hair that bounces in the sun when she runs.
I trust you'll treat her well.

She's slipping out of the backyard of my heart this morning...and skipping off down the street to her first day of school. And never again will she be completely mine.
Prim and proud she'll wave her young and independent hand this morning and say "Goodbye" and walk with little lady steps to the schoolhouse.

Now she'll learn to stand in lines...and wait by the alphabet for her name to be called. She'll learn to tune her ears for the sounds of school-bells...and deadlines...and she'll learn to giggle...and gossip...and look at the ceiling in a disinterested way when the little boy 'cross the aisle sticks out his tongue at her. And now she'll learn to be jealous. And now she'll learn how it is to feel hurt inside. And now she'll learn how not to cry.

No longer will she have time to sit on the front porch on a summer day and watch an ant scurry across the crack in the sidewalk. Nor will she have time to pop out of bed with the dawn and kiss lilac blooms in the morning dew. No, now she'll worry about those important things...like grades and which dress to wear and whose best friends is whose. And the magic of books and learning will replace the magic of her blocks and dolls. And now she'll find new heroes.

For five full years now I've been her sage and Santa Claus and pal and playmate and mother and friend. Now she'll learn to share her worship with her teachers ...which is only right. But no longer will I be the smartest woman in the whole world. Today when that school bell rings for the first time...she'll learn what it means to be a member of the group...with all its privileges and its disadvantages too.

She'll learn in time that proper young ladies do not laugh out loud...or kiss dogs...or keep frogs in pickle jars in bedrooms...or even watch ants scurry across cracks in sidewalks in the summer.
Today she'll learn for the first time that all who smile at her are not her friends. And I'll stand on the front porch and watch her start out on the long, lonely journey to becoming a woman.
So, world, I bequeath to you today one little girl...in a crispy dress...with two brown eyes...and a flash of light brown hair that bounces in the sunlight when she runs.

I trust you'll treat her well.

 Tammi, I hope that the day goes very well for Alyssa tomorrow. It is great that she has a big brother to watch over her on the bus. Even now that my kids are older, I feel better that Matthew will be on the bus with Laura tomorrow. They are both in the orchestra, so they are in the same homeroom, too, every other day. Matthew is taking AP Java and orchestra this year. Since they are both offered only 1st period, the teachers gave him permission to attend class every other day.

Amy, I hope that Alyssa's first day of preschool goes smoothly. We start next week.

Tom, it sounds like your ADR's are coming along well. How exciting that your trip is getting so close!

Elizabeth, I'm sorry that your ds made you :headache: over his homework. Matthew has an essay due tomorrow for AP American History. He had all summer to do it, and it still isn't done. I hope that he gets it done today, but I have given up all ownership of the problem. He is in 11th grade, so it is completely his responsibility. (Of course, that is easier said than done. I am still worrying about it, and if he is stressed later, I will definitely feel that, too.)

Steffy, I'm sorry that you are sore, but I'm glad that you know that the Crocs will keep you from being that way.

Ok...back for a little more reading.

Beth

Anne Marie, I love your trip report so far! I can't believe that you were upgraded to concierge again! :woohoo: Welcome back! I can't wait to hear more about your trip.

Bernadette, Welcome back to you, too! I think you were right for calling about the fire, and I wouldn't bother to tell that your reported it unless she asks you directly.

Beth

Deb, the deck looks terrific! Want to come visit us for a long while and get our butts moving on some projects? We could use your expertise as well as your ability to get things started and finished!

Anne Marie-LOVE your TR!!!!

I didn't have a dole whip on my last trip. And I have never EVER been to CM. I NEED to go back!!!!

I have an ADR for Joe's birthday dinner at CM.:thumbsup2
Thanks!

Ok well you have to get a Dole Whip float in November then!!! I think you will like CM's.

I think you did the right thing calling about the fire. Don't feel bad about it, they are putting your home & family in jepardy.

Becky,
:yay: for your trip
:grouphug: for your aunt

Tom,
Mama Melrose's food is yummy. CP is great & 5:30pm would be fine to get you to the party. Don't sweat that one. I think Leighanna will love it. My kids don't like LTT but they love CP. They prefer the buffet & selection of desserts over the thanksgiving type food at LTT. I love both & I missed LTT this trip but I get to go in October which is cool.:yay:

Deb,
Awesome job on the deck!!!!:cheer2:

Kim - You guys arrive the day we depart. I bet we'll miss you because we'll have to get on ME at 11 AM.

Heidi - We love Crystal Palace! OK, not so much this past trip where they had issues with seating people on time, but in general we love it!

Tammi & Kim- I hope the bus goes OK! I used to HATE riding the bus. Especially when we had to sit 3 kids per seat. Not fun!:headache:

pixiedust: for the bus! Laura hates to ride the bus, too. Dh has driven her to school for the past two years, because the middle school was on his way to work, and it started at the right time. Now that she will be going to high school, she will need to take the bus. I think she is dreading that more than going to school. Matthew said that the bus was very crowded last year and they did have to sit three to a seat.

We love Crystal Palace, too!

One more day for me too! I start coteaching a prekindergarten class tomorrow!! Im a bit nervous, because its the first time m starting a school year, full time..but im really lookng forward to it too

pixiedust: for your teaching! You will do a great job!

We have one more day before the kids go back. The teachers are in school today, though.

Why did you stop that report? I really enjoyed the one that you have started on this thread!

Hi Beth!

I realized how time consuming the TR was getting as I like to make it very detailed. So I just started a condensed version over here. I would like to do a proper one with all the details at a later time when I can get it all done. I knew once school starts & I start working that I might not be able to finish it & didn't want to leave it out there hanging with no ending.

That makes sense. I would love to read all the details when you get to it! I never did write a report for our trip last year. I meant to, but once school started and I started teaching...well, you already know.

Where are you going to be working?

I need to get going even though I didn't quite get caught all the way up. The older two will be home from practice soon, and I have a ton of errands to get done today.

I now have ADR's for Mama Melrose for dinner instead of Sci-Fi. After looking at the menu, I think that will be a good choice for us.

Still no availability for LTT before MNSSHP, so I have kept CP for now.

We liked Mama Melrose Tom....it was yummy but the air conditioning was on super sonic cold I think!!

Thanks everyone on the advice for Sci Fi and CP.

I really want to try to change the Sci Fi to almost anything else. I think that it will be too hard to converse with everyone at the table, and I am sure that Leighanna will become impatient and want to get up and out often.

I will keep CP, but if I can get LTT on the off chance that there is a cancellation, I will.

Deb, the deck looks great! That is exactly the type of deck I want on the back of my house!
I agree with waiting 6 months to treat it. Although I wouldn't recommend Thompson's. It is over commercialized and overrated. There are alot better choices out there! CWF by Flood is a good choice.:thumbsup2 I sold LOTS of it and it far outlasts Thompson's!

Thanks, we don't know much about paints, stains or protectants. Now I know a little more thanks to you.

:scratchin did you have a child and not tell us. :confused3

:rolleyes1 :teeth:

that would be my dear Dad :)

Deb-great job on the deck

For those with kiddos starting back today in school....some    for you. Elin I am sorry you are feeling the way you are about teaching. Jen you'll get into a groove quickly!!

Loving the trip planning and discussing...I may eventually get to go back to the world...maybe when I'm 80.

I know I am missing some, sorry.

I love MM, Tom, so I hope you find it just as yummy.

Have you tried for an earlier ADR at CP?

Keep trying for LTT. The kids HAVE to eat at Pizza Planet every trip. Chris and I usually get something at the ABC Commissary when they have their pizza as the pizza isn't very good. We also like Prime Time, but the server definitely makes or breaks that meal. Auntie Claire was excellent and we really enjoyed that meal. Last years server was average at best and the meal seemed average too.

Not many people mention the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs. The food there was very good. The house special potatoes were DELICIOUS. They even had stick pony races for the kids.

The ESPN club was the restaurant that surprised us. The food was great and the portions were huge and the price wasn't bad at all. They even have some booths with Playstation which our kids loved.

Whispering Canyon is another family favorite for us. Lots of action and good food.

We love Take out at the Trails End Buffeteria at Fort Wilderness. It is wonderful for a picnic lunch and it is so affordable. It is the same food that they serve at the Hoop Dee Doo. One take out order would most likely feed your family and you could find a picnic table to enjoy it at and then head over to the campfire program

Truer words have never been spoken. (is truer a word? :confused3 )

Thank you to everyone for the compliments on the deck.

Beth don't give us too much credit, it isn't finished yet :lmao: My dad called this morning and wanted to come work on it. I have so much laudry and housework that I neglected this weekend so I told him no. Then He wanted to come work on it alone. I still said no because I know that he will need me out there every other minute for this or that and I need to accomplish stuff in the house. Chris and I are supposed to work on it tonight. Of course I have to work the next 4 nights so whatever doesn't get done tonight won't get done until Sunday. I am the queen of unfinished project, someday I may finish some of them.
